Well, this is your obvious tourist area Bar and grill. It's western themed and extremely large. The seats at the high top were saddles. Not very convenient for the senior side of the tourist industry. The rest of the chairs were very small in comparison. I know I'm a larger person but my friend is only 5 6 160 and his hips were being pinched just as well. The food was decent but it was definitely freezer to table that is when we were actually served. I know it was end of season, but the late step behind the bar which was approximately four or five at one time definitely didn't have time for customers. They did have a lot of time to gossip back and forth are complain about situations that they have worked through. Finally know that because they did that you're shy of everyone sitting at the bar. I don't know how places with the footprint that large continues to make it in our economy with their quality and make it in our economy. Sorry about that.

Walked in to buy a glass n bought a tshirt instead. Met a wonderful lady bartender Jacqueline so we had a shot n beer too. She has fantastic personality and shared ideas of where to trail walk in UP (Narnia). We will definitely go back again.

My fiancée had the wild game burger with sweet potato fries. Said it was delicious

The server was a sweetheart. So friendly and attentive to our 8 top group. The Parmesan crusted whitefish was moist and so delicious - not to mention HUGE! My fiancée loved the Big Game Burger with sweet potato fries. I stole the garlic dill spear served on the side. One of the best I've had in ages

Brewery #274 Yet another tourist trap but that's basically the whole town. Dixie Saloon and Brewery as they now call themselves is kind of a misnomer. The top of the Mitten of Michigan is about as far from Dixie as you can get. We stopped here to eat and get a few beers. They supposedly brew their own beer and have several to choose from. I just grabbed a couple of their Hazy Enough which is the name of their hazy IPA. It was actually pretty good. For dinner I got a Reuben Sandwich with "spicy beans" as a side. I wanted French Fries but it was a 4.75 UPCHARGE for fries. WTF? That's not the cost that's the upcharge. Are these fries hand cut with Ginsu knives cooked in Lambda luxury olive oil from Greece then tossed in white truffles? Anyway the sandwich itself was pretty good with a decent amount of meat. The beans were mediocre at best. Spicy beans equal: Campbell's pork and beans with a few pieces of jalapeno and pineapple. Overall everything was ok but like everything in Mackinaw City, it's overpriced for what you get.

Only at the bar however the menu looks impressive and the bar service is excellent. Great friendly customer service and conversation.

The extra fees not posted anywhere that are added to you check at this customer unfriendly place.

Food and services were good, but what will make me not return is the $5.33 of extra fees and the assistant manager's condescending tone. I do not do business with price gougers. The keyhole bar, is cheaper, better food, and has no added fees

Got seated quickly. Fun decorations every where. I had the Red-Eye Reuben very good bread was perfect and the corned beef was so yummm! Staff was attentive and polite kept our drink full and cleared plate when empty. Will stop back next time in mackinaw !

It is definitely a bar with some character (writing and money on the walls). For everyone saying it is a tourist trap, well the whole town is geared towards tourist. They do offer a good number of beer to choose from and the food is typical bar food. I would say that the serving sizes are massive. We couldn't finish either plate. We had the Mackinac n Cheese and Red Eye Rueben. Both had good flavor. We also tried the Soulful Red and Happy Blonde beer. Not a bad spot for a quick dinner or to grab a beer. They even had a guitarist the night we were there.

I don't think the restaurant is beyond saving by any means, but I do think there are some issues that need attention. Looking back, I wish I had paid closer attention to some of the lower-rated Google reviews because my experience ended up being very similar. Upon arrival, figuring out how to enter the restaurant was a little confusing. Once inside, I decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Unfortunately, every step up was covered with what felt like an excessive amount of sand. The windowsills along the staircase were filled with cobwebs and what appeared to be piles of dead mosquitoes. Now, I understand that restaurants near the beach have to deal with sand, insects, and other environmental challenges. That comes with the territory. But this felt beyond that. It felt neglected. Once upstairs, the staff was friendly enough. I don't have any major complaints about the service. It wasn't overwhelming. It wasn't underwhelming. It was just... whelming. One thing I did genuinely appreciate was seeing a restaurant filled with people of color, both among the staff and guests. In many of the places I've visited in the area, that hasn't always been the case, so it was refreshing and welcoming. Before being seated, I asked to use the restroom. Unfortunately, the cleanliness issues continued there as well. What made this frustrating is that the restaurant itself wasn't dirty. The tables were spotless. The bar area looked great. It was the neglected areas that stood out. The stairs, the windowsills, the corners, and the restroom all felt like they needed a little extra attention. Honestly, I feel like one dedicated deep-cleaning day could dramatically improve the overall experience. These things make ir break an experience with a customer. Now, onto the food. I ordered the lobster poutine, and honestly, it was really good. I'd absolutely order it again. I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10. I also ordered a burger. It was beautiful when it arrived, but there were a few details that took away from the experience. The lettuce was a little spotty, there was visible dirt on the tomato, and the house-made chips were slightly burnt. Everything was edible, but those small details matter. There was also an uncomfortable interaction with another guest seated near me. I'm intentionally not making this review about that situation because it wasn't the restaurant's fault. However, it did add to an experience that already wasn't heading in a positive direction. Overall, I think this restaurant has tremendous potential. The location is fantastic, and there are moments where you can see what they're trying to create. Unfortunately, I don't plan to return. That said, I encourage others to experience it for themselves. Plenty of people seem to like this place, and you may have a completely different experience than I did. I sincerely wish the staff well because they were kind throughout my visit. I just think the restaurant has some opportunities to improve, and I hope they take advantage of them.

He even wished my mom a happy Mother's Day before taking our order, which was a nice touch. We started with the Street Corn Nachos as an appetizer, then ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich, both with fries on the side (an additional $4 each). This was an excellent place to bring my mom since she's vegetarian, and the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian-friendly options. The food was excellent, especially the nachos -- the queso was amazing. The restaurant also gives you a lot of customization options, like swapping chips for fries for an extra $4 or adding protein to the nachos for an additional charge. That said, while the nachos were really good, they were still $18 without any protein, which honestly felt overpriced for chips, cheese, and vegetables. We came during lunch service, and overall the food, service, and view made for a great experience. However, it is definitely on the expensive side. Most entrees seemed to range from around $20-30. Still, if you're willing to spend a little more for quality food, generous portions, and a great atmosphere, it's definitely worth visiting.
