Creole boiled whitefish
Mia M.

Wait was 30min quoted and wound up shorter. We walked the pier in the meantime. We ordered 3 appetizers and the fish and walked out very full. The portions for the Animal fries were huge! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space was busy with a "front porch" vibe. It was quaint and pleasant to look out at the harbor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

enjoyed the Whitefish Fingers so much, we ordered a second order! Hubby and I split a Bison burger and the house cut french fries, both were delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All dining is on the deck, offering everyone a view of the waterfront.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our wait time for table was approx. 45 minutes so we took the opportunity to walk across the street to the park/marina area to enjoy the beautiful lakeshore views. Service was great. Definitely coming back next time we're in da U.P.

Chips & salsa

Was passing through on my way to pictured rocks & stopped here for lunch! Sandwich was AMAZING!!! (Avocado/onion/dill havarti one) It was a little chilly when we went in May, but worth it for the yummy meal.

The last cheese curd, from our second order! We almost fought over this little nugget of crunchy, gooey goodness!

Today was our third time visiting the Gangplank. Every time we've driven north and south so far! The whitefish fingers are excellent, the whitefish sandwich is also great, and the Hot Lips Houlihan is like no other sandwich we have ever had, anywhere! Delicious. Today we tried the ghost pepper cheese curds, and had to get a second order they were so tasty!! If ever there were a reason to go off your diet, do it at the Gangplank. It's worth it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small and breezy, the view is nice, and the service has been super every time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Quaint! Great food Best whitefish sandwich we have ever had. Homemade margaritas amazing!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The deck dining room is really fun and the service was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went at lunchtime and it was super busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was really nice that you can get a drink while you wait. I enjoyed my whitefish fingers and fries but they were ok. Because it was so busy, I think they sat for bit so the fish was not crispy. The dipping sauce for the fish was really good. I loved the dill. The fries were really good.

I've seen better service at a restaurant run by the blind. Not sure why they run around not doing anything but for the money you'd think they'd have a clue. The fish sammie was tasty but the side selection was hurting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice view of the harbor[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but not really worth the money.

Just got to gang plank after an 8 hr drive from Cleveland!

When i first walked up i was greated quickly and with a smile which set a great mood and feeling it was goig. To be a good time which it ended up as....The food was delicious and made right the fries are FRESH cut, and the bison burger was amazing and for the appetizer i went with the cheese curds and house made ranch absolutely delicious! The white Russian cocktail was perfection almost dangerously good! And just the over ambiance of the place was perfect and made you feel truly at ease!

Greek pita
James B.

The mains here are pretty decent. I got the Greek pita and was very impressed with the flavors, the tzatziki, the freshness of the onion and tomato. It kinda falls apart after this. There are three side choices for most mains: chips and salsa, fries or cottage cheese. None are really healthy or different from what anyone else is doing with the exception of cottage cheese, which also is a no for me. The fries were a little too salty and on the limp side. The wait time for a Saturday night is about an hour which we saw some people leave from that but there's only 12 tables. The wait staff did not really having it together so we only really got our order in and the check and didn't get a second round of drinks. Overall 3/5 would recommend to friend for the views and the mains.

Fun times, good food. Loved the appetizers! It was busy but expected waits during tourist time. Wait staff was friendly and on the ball!

I like the theme and vibe of the place - the play on bikes and name of the restaurant is perfect. Decor is bike themed but not overly done. Rustic and laid back. Our waitress was excellent - very friendly and attentive. All staff were wearing masks. Good drink menu in addition to food. A lot of small plate options but the portion sizes of the small plates could feed at least 2-4 people. I went with sweet potato fries and steak tender bites - delicious! The dipping sauces for the fries had three different options - sweet/savory, loved trying each one. The sweet potato fries were not mushy and had a good crunch. The steak was cooked to perfection - I asked for medium and I got medium! Everyone seemed happy with their food. Restrooms were downstairs. Nice dining option in the city - only con there was no outdoor seating. Picking up on social media - looks like this place used to be Huron St. Pub & Grill not sure if it was a re-branding or new owners. Either way, I hope Broken Spoke is here to stay on the island!

The tomato basil soup was too salty and we couldn't finish it, the fish tacos were a little fishy, but the Po' Boy was still really good.

Self serve beer/cider - really cool concept....you pick the size glass you want (4oz, 8oz, or 12oz) then pick the cider/beer/seltzer you want, then swipe your bracelet to that machine and it pours it and charges you only for the amount you poured. We stopped by on our way up to the Soo and since it was 10:30 am we got breakfast food. Definitely plan to come back during lunch/dinner next time.

Skip to the end to see my rating scale…read more The three things I look for in a brewery are an inviting outdoor space, accessibility to some good food options, and (of course) some quality beers. Big bonus if a place is dog friendly. Salty Mac accomplishes all of these parameters. It's self-serve, so it's a little different in that regard, but someone was always handy to get you pointed in the right direction with how the taps work - and there are a lot to pick from! They have options for wine, seltzers, ciders, and about a dozen different varieties of beers. In my experience it's tough to have that many offerings and produce a brew that's fantastic and make me want to come back for the beer alone. So while none of the beers were fantastic, there are enough solid options that I found one I liked and happily ran through three within a short time. The flatbreads available were really nice. We had a crab rangoon and a white, both excellent. Lastly I need to point out their tipping policy. The owners decided to pay their staff a good competitive wage so that their income wasn't based on the number of customers through the door. For that reason, all the tips are donated to local charities which were listed on a card near the register. I absolutely love that approach and wish more places did it that way. Much respect for this! My rating scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive 30 minutes out of my way just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

He even wished my mom a happy Mother's Day before taking our order, which was a nice touch. We started with the Street Corn Nachos as an appetizer, then ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich, both with fries on the side (an additional $4 each). This was an excellent place to bring my mom since she's vegetarian, and the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian-friendly options. The food was excellent, especially the nachos -- the queso was amazing. The restaurant also gives you a lot of customization options, like swapping chips for fries for an extra $4 or adding protein to the nachos for an additional charge. That said, while the nachos were really good, they were still $18 without any protein, which honestly felt overpriced for chips, cheese, and vegetables. We came during lunch service, and overall the food, service, and view made for a great experience. However, it is definitely on the expensive side. Most entrees seemed to range from around $20-30. Still, if you're willing to spend a little more for quality food, generous portions, and a great atmosphere, it's definitely worth visiting.

To be fair, since it's on Mackinac Island, you're going to travel an hour just to get here anyway. But yeah, if I lived anywhere in the area I'd plan a night around coming here. The three things I look for in a brewery are an inviting outdoor space, accessibility to some good grub, and (of course) some quality beers. Big bonus if a place is dog friendly. Great Turtle easily accomplishes all three. Our waitress was great - they were fairly busy but she was super friendly and made sure we were taken care of without being up-in-your-face. The lunches we enjoyed were tasty and filling. We actually came here twice on the same day. The first time we got the 12-sample flight of all their beers. We then left for a walk around the town. After an hour of talking about Great Turtle we decided to go back for lunch and a pint of our favorite beer from the flight. Very rare for us to repeat a place, especially on the same day! So we went down to the pub and luckily we were able to get a table right away. I should note, we also chose this pub because it had Gluten Free options and we had someone with us who could only eat Gluten Free. We were provided water fairly quickly, but to order took a little bit, about 20 minutes. I would say there were only two waitstaff working on a busy afternoon. The pub is kind of small, with seating at the bar, along the sides and then two high top tables in the middle. Once we ordered our food didn't take too long to get. I ordered a Reuben, and got the vinegar coleslaw. Rueben was good, I wouldn't say great for being an Irish Pub. The coleslaw was actually cream based so based on the menu saying vinegar I was a bit surprised. Two others ordered hamburgers which they said were just ok. All in all, the dining experience was alright, nothing spectacular but because we got seated quickly and were hungry it was good for us.
