Family style chicken dinner, mashed potatoes, noodles, peas and fresh bisquits.

If you want a nostalgic walk back in time, Dam Site Inn hits all the marks. The interior gives sets a retro theme reminiscent of a simpler time of family dining in a nice country setting. The chicken is amazing, lightly coated and crispy. All the sides are freshly prepared. Served family style with all you can eat portions. Service is good and servers are very attentive. One of our favorites and we go every year for dinner.

Though we did not have our entire family here tonight, this place is nothing but good. The feeling you get from the second you walk in is you are taken back in time to when things were nice, and people cared about the little things. Every year the owners mother carves about 100 pumpkins, she's in the beginning phase, but the pumpkins are spectacular as you will see in my postings. The highlight of the evening I must say was our server Tom. Tom started out here as a busboy, and was promoted to server back in 2020. His brother has worked here, as well as his mother when she was younger. This is a true example of people that care about service, and are proud of what they do, as they should be as they are at the top of their class. The owner is a genuinely warm man and cares so much about his customers, and the people and his operation. Trust me when you go here it's not just a meal it's a memory that will last forever.

We have been coming here for fifty years nows. The current owners are the third generation and know how to operate a winning formula. While you can't go wrong with their chicken (delicious), don't be afraid to try the rest. Especially the seafood. The whitefish, perch and walleye are always fresh and fantastic. Strangely, they have some of the BEST fried shrimp you will ever taste. Noodles & biscuits made from scratch. It's the most requested restaurant visit at our cottage by both family and guests!

It will not be possible for you to leave hungry. Enjoyable place to take the family (especially the grandparents ) all you can eat portions with quality, homemade taste. If you are into some retro, nostalgia like I am .. you will appreciate the interior vibe. Some may say it is dated, and that is true, but that's what provides the character of the restaurant.

A classic throwback to mid-century dinning. The decor, the menu and the ambiance harken back to simpler days. We love the place.

Ask the Community - Dam Site Inn

Should we give them a heads up for large party?

I personally get reservations for parties of six or more.

    Does it have outdoor seating?

No, very large separate dining rooms in the restaurant. (They also offer carryout at least in 2020)

The restaurant opened a few minutes after 12 noon. Other customers ahead of us were also waiting to be seated. The hostess was not very friendly. The older female hostess seemed to be annoyed, when we checked in. We were seated at a round table near the deck. We had a partial view of the bay. I enjoyed my two Michigan Manhattans with Iron Fish bourbon whiskey, sweet vermouth, Iron Fish cherry maple smoked bitters and a cherry up for $19 each. I also enjoyed my reuben for $21. The reuben is made with Sy Ginsberg corned beef, house sauerkraut, swiss, house thousand island dressing, toasted rye and beef tallow fries. This restaurant is expensive. Our food service was slow even though the restaurant was not crowded. We had to wait almost an hour for our food to be served to us. Being with young children was not good for our young children to wait so long. Keni served us very well. I don't think Keni was the cause of our slow food service. Our total bill was $242 excluding gratuity.

Coming from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, I received word I must bring heels, a dress and white gloves! No problem, as those items already graced the suitcase. A beautiful sunny day we left Mullett Lake and drove and drove and drove to the Argonne Supper Club! After a gracious greeting, we began enjoying our meal! The servers and entire meal - bread, coleslaw, 2 types of shrimp, and dessert - far exceeded all my dreams for the evening! What a lovely Club! Now it is 2026! Due to a health problem, my husband and I created a bucket list of all the Michigan places we wished to revisit! Kind of like rereading your favorites again! Yesterday, we made 4 o'clock reservations, and entered The Argonne House with our daughter, wondering what changes we'd find! Structural changes, an updated menu - those were the only changes Katherine ( Kat), our server made us feel like part of the family, telling us about the 100 year party! How we wished we knew about it! Amazing - the tables still stood far part!!! Did we imagine the walls the lovely colors they are now? Our daughter was a planner for the Washington Post! Well I couldn't get a reservation in the fall so my girlfriend and I tried again while taking a ski trip to Boyne Mountain . Yes, The location and ambiance is fabulous . We were graciously greeted and sat at table # 1 right by the windows looking out to the frozen lake truly a great table. Our waitress Janice a local greeted us and was very nice. Janice did a great job going through the menu which I will added the prices were very fare . The wine and cocktail list were also impressive with a wide offering in price and choice. We decided on a Malbec to start. Then they brought out a the welcoming taste of salmon pate on a cucumber which we both found to be very tasty . After reviewing the menu we chose to bypass an appetizer for fear of just getting too much food and not finishing our dinner . After I told my girlfriend how good whitefish is in Michigan we both ordered that instead of the salmon or short ribs that also looked enticing. . Before our entree was served we had the warm bread and garlic butter that was terrific and tempting to eat the whole basket . Our dinners were served very quickly even though the restaurant was sold out . As we took the first bites of the white fish I was extremely disappointed . The breading had absolutely zero seasoning or flavor . The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly but the breading was completely flavorless taking away from the fish. Neither of us finished the dish and my girlfriend tried adding salt just to get some flavor but it didn't make it any better . I was going to order dessert but we were so disappointed after our dinner we chose to bypass dessert . . I did order a coffee since they didn't have cappuccino. I will say the coffee was very good , but what good restaurant doesn't have a cappuccino machine . As a side note the bathroom very nicely decorated in old wine box shingles on the wall and was very clean . I gave 3 stars simply because the Walloon Inn has been around so long and highly acclaimed as one of the better restaurants in the area. This was very disappointing . I may come back with my business partner and hope my experience will be better . Until next time .
