I love a good local coffee shop and Village Grinder was one such place! It is so cute and cozy inside, with an adorable little seating area, delicious coffee smells all throughout the shop, and all the little touches like wooden signs welcoming you in. And for the shopper, they have lots of small decor, gifts, and actual coffee beans for sale. But the star of the show is the coffee drinks themselves! I had the pumpkin spice latte (it was Autumn, so I am allowed!), and it was creamy, had a good spice to it, and smooth. I would definitely get that again. But I look forward to trying more flavors soon! Village Grinder is a cute little cafe to stop by while you're in Countryside Village. I love this spot because you can taste the coffee in your lattes. And the taste is high quality & it's a noticeable difference. It's also so cute on the inside!!!! Ownership is so sweet. One of the best coffee stops in Omaha! The scones are some of the best I've ever had, so fresh, not dry, and full of flavor. All the other baked goods are good too, but you have to try a scone. They make a great traditional cappuccino, minimal cream, not like you'll get at a big box coffee shop. The cutest little shop with the nicest staff. I enjoy that the interior is cozy, like a small town shop or my grandma's house (meant in the kindest sentiment), and it's not like one of those shops someone will post up with their computer for hours. To me, that maintains the integrity of the space! You can buy a variety of things including their beans, stationery and home decor, and coffee, of course. DO NOT SPEND MONEY HERE!!! I've come here a few times in the past few weeks and everytime it has been bad. I typically come in the morning and there tends to be alot of school kids getting stuff. I've noticed who im assuming is the owner, a lady around my age, tends to watch kids of color a little closer than everyone else, she is also incredibly rude to them! I asked for my drink to be made a specific way and it was made the opposite, it wasn't good at all. If you arent a "regular" you won't be treated very good. I decided to try Village Grinder today for my morning coffee and it was the best decision ! The atmosphere of the coffee shop is welcoming and overall a good vibe. I got a salted caramel cold brew with cream and a cinnamon roll. This cinnamon roll is one of the best ones I've had in a while. The coffee was absolutely amazing as well. The staff were attentive and very nice and you can tell they enjoyed working there. This will for sure be added as one of my favorite coffee shops!! read more

This humble little coffee shop is right off 90th and dodge and a great spot for a fresh encounter with peace and good sips. The village grinder isn't your modern, minimal, all white "aesthetic" coffee shop, however it's homey, warm, and relaxing. You'll find that the majority of customers are women coming for afternoon chats or breakfast pastries. They have a lot of trinkets and home decor to purchase, but I gave this five stars more for the atmosphere it permits. Very warm and comforting like walking into grandmas and smelling cookies, getting a big hug, and feeling at home. As for the drinks, I only got a red raspberry iced tea (which was fantastic), but am looking forward to returning and trying more things. Service was kind and helpful even though they were working their buns off, they make people feel seen and welcome. This place looks very bland in the outside, I'm not going to lie...but when you walk inside you are met with a bright, warm atmosphere! They have a variety of retail teas, spa care gifts, chocolates, and obviously coffee! They have pastry items as well that they make in-house!!! They don't have an awful lot of seating but it's cozy! My friend and I came here for a get together and we had a great time. They did get decently busy. They do have almond and oat milks for anyone who might want them! And they had a good arrangement of brews and fun, unique drinks. It was rainy and overcast when we went so it inspired me to get a dirty chai! It was a little sweet for my taste personally, but it tasted delicious! I would come back here! I love supporting small businesses and as far as coffee shops go, this one is my favorite in this particular area! It's almost hidden unless you're familiar with the small complex here. I love it. There's a couple of bakeries that prepare different pastries and cakes, a workout studio I think, The Simple man, and a locally owned coffee shop! I love that this little coffee shop also has cute stuff to purchase along with teas and coffees too. There seating area is quite small but just enough to provide that warm and cozy vibe. The coffee options are fun in that they are always changing up their fun flavors but still offer the mainstays as well. I recently had their peppermint mocha with almond milk and it was delicious. I do hope I can try some of their pastries or quiches sometime, they looked pretty tasty. read more

Just from my hour or so visit, it was clear that this is an establishment that has a good collection of regulars, and they do a great job creating friendships with the faces that return again and again. As far as seating areas go, it's fairly small - 4-5 tables I think? But it was still plenty of space since half the visitors were grabbing a drink to go. They also utilize nearly half of this store front to sell some cute household items and giftable goods, which I thought worked well for their space. They aren't going to be a go to spot if you're looking for in house roasted coffees and knowledgeable craft baristas. While you won't hear words like aeropress or micro batch here, they will likely keep you around awhile anyway just because of the hospitality (and a beautiful pastry case ) read more

Adorable local coffee shop located in countryside Village that manages to survive just fine despite the fact that it's only four doors down from Starbucks. They've got warm drinks a cozy atmosphere and a little gift shop environment inside of trinkets relating to food, drink, and gifts. My favorite part about the Village grinder is that they sell at Holly's healthy holes, a local vegan donut business without a solid storefront. Such a nice staff, and warm atmosphere! I used to LOVE this coffee shop and was a consistent customer for over a year as I had my days off on their "half-off Tuesdays." Earlier this spring I had stopped in and the owner was very flat and rude to me and another random customer in line, which I thought was odd, but I chalked it up to a misunderstanding. Despite me being willing to forget the situation, I found myself not choosing to go to VG as often as I once had. I decided to randomly stop in today and I was met with the owner once again at the counter. She was incredibly short with me when taking my order, made a snarky comment about what I had actually ordered, and then when she charged my card she slammed it back on the counter towards me. I said my thank you's and she had no comment back to me. I was a little off put yet again but was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she's not having a great morning. That was until the woman behind me stepped forward and the owner had the biggest smile on her face, was happy to help this customer, and was engaging in conversation. I'm incredibly hurt by this small interaction. I always found VG to be a comfort place for me as it reminds me of coffee shops my mom and I would visit often in small east coast towns and I am now independently living in Omaha. I know the owner is very partial to her regular customers and Ive witnessed first hand in the last year her calling customers by their first names, having their drinks ready before they reach the front counter, and being able to banter back and forth with them. I don't expect her to have a desire to have this close of a relationship with me but the disrespect towards a paying customer drew a line for me today. A coffee shop that I raved about to my friends will now be a place I will be discouraging them to go to. I came home immediately and was reading reviews online to make sure what I had felt wasn't crazy. However, when I went up, to order my coffee, they forgot to put the Tuesday discount on, which is fine, so I asked about it. The barista just told me it was too late she already took my card and that I needed to be quicker next time. She was quite short with me and a bit rude and told me to get it next week. She didn't offer to redo the transaction, or to even provide a $1 pastry or anything. When I finally received my coffee, it didn't taste like it had any flavor in it, just warm milk and coffee when I ordered a mocha. The last few times I've been in, the baristas have been so preoccupied with other customers (who I assume are regulars) or the other barista working that my drink was either made wrong or they just forgot to make it. This place is definitely homey and I do like what I've gotten in the past that has been correct, but recently my orders have been incorrect and taste bad. I just got an alert on Yelp stating that businesses are going through a lot because of Covid, and to take that into consideration. I will make sure to do that when writing reviews as far as food and service, as we are all going through a tough time, but I also want to continue to support businesses I feel are making sure they're keeping employees and the community safe as well. Having said that, I'm one of those that is taking this pandemic seriously and taking all the precautions I can. I have decided to only support businesses that are making me feel safe to do so during this time. I do not dine in currently, only to go. I just moved to the area, and have been checking out local coffee shops and restaurants, as I believe we should support small businesses. I work right down the street from Village Grinder, so it makes sense to grab coffee right down the street. I love the atmosphere of the store, the coffee, as well as the tea selection. What I don't support, and what is making me not return to this amazing little shop is the fact they're not being safe. I came to pick up my coffee this morning after working a 12 hour shift and both employees weren't wearing masks.
