Such a cool place! Found this while visiting downtown Glenwood, and couldn't believe the selection of ice cream, candy, soda and fudge. The girl working the counter was so friendly and helpful, and talked us through everything in the shop. The Dutch Letter ice cream was one of a kind and delicious! We also really enjoyed the puppy chow truffle, and the monster cookie truffle. Cannot wait to go back here! read more

If your soul yearns for sweets, your pilgrimage ends at The Sugar Makery. This is no ordinary candy shop--it is a kingdom of delights where chocolate flows like treasure, gummies shine like jewels, and taffy stretches with nostalgia itself. The air carries the aroma of fresh-baked wonders, and the staff--warm, cheerful, and endlessly kind--are like guides leading you through a wonderland of indulgence. Their ice cream selection is a festival in itself: sundaes stacked high with toppings, shakes that taste like dreams spun into cream, and cones crafted with perfection. And then, as if by magic, a wall of sodas appears--rare flavours rising like artifacts from a forgotten age. To sip on a bottle of Moxie again was like traveling back through time. But the true crown jewel? The giant gummy bear, waiting for you to strike a heroic pose beside it, a sweet memento of your journey. The Sugar Makery isn't just a shop--it's an adventure, an experience, a celebration of joy itself. Step inside, and you step into legend. read more

Great place for a sweet tooth. They have everything to give you cavities. Chocolate, taffy, fudge, various soda pops, ice cream, etc.... Came here to park overnight via Harvest host. The employees were very nice and professional. I bought a few things (taffy, fudge and a strawberry milkshake)and wow they were all very good. Highly recommend! read more

My son had a soccer game in Glenwood, IA this afternoon, and afterwards, we stopped by this place that was within throwing distance from the Y. When I ordered a double scoop of strawberry ice cream, the owner who was standing at the cashier informed me that it's a flavor they don't often have, and then went on to tell me why. After cutting and a vinegar wash, she had them macerate (soak in sugar to make a syrup) for 4-5 days before even thinking about going into some ice cream. It was absolutely amazing! read more

Be prepared to walk in your first time and be overwhelmed with the delicious smells and wide variety of choices!!! Don't be ashamed if you want to try everything. I got several different desserts and a bag of popcorn and 0 regrets! read more

Sugar makery is easily the most exciting thing our trips to Glenwood lately. If you're looking for sugar water taffy or a classic soda or bulk candy or house made fudge or delicious ice cream treats or gourmet popcorns, sugar makery is your spot! They provide excellent service and they have a huge selection of sweet treats and snacks. My husband's favorite section is definitely the nostalgic collection of sodas, while my focus is usually getting a birthday cake shake! This is a great stop if you want to grab a special gift, celebrate someone, treat your sweet tooth, or send your kids into a sugar frenzy ;) read more

Absolutely beautiful inside! My husband, daughter and myself all made a quick stop here and we never knew it was here. The employees were so friendly a d helpful. I stopped here a month or so ago after brunch to grab some goodies. You walk in and there are so many goodies! I went way overboard and spent like $40 on chocolates, ice cream, and candy. Great little candy/popcorn/ice cream store out in the middle of nowhere it seems.. but this place makes it a must stop!! All kinds of novelty sodas. Flavored popcorn and ice cream. Super friendly folks.. stop by and get ya some! read more

The largest draw for me here is the popcorn, ice cream and chocolate case. On my first visit, I wasn't really hungry but decided I had to try one of the original popcorn flavors. I ordered the size up from 'mini' of the spicy cheese -- yum! I had debated about the dill pickle one too and determined that's my choice for next time. My friend had visited numerous times and ordered a malt which looked great. As we waited we talked with the pleasant owner, who educated us on some of the different candies. We also checked out all the goodness in the homemade candy case...I quickly added to my order for the next visit. This place has almost any candy or soda you can imagine too. If you're looking for a sugar or popcorn fix--this is it! read more

The Sugar Makery and Bittersweet Dessert Bar have teamed up for a super sweet Council Bluffs location! They made an adorably fun cake for my daughter's birthday and also make an excellent cheesecake. We've tried the peanut butter cup and turtle flavors and they both were SO good! Great flavor, quality, and value. The store also sells a variety of popcorn, homemade ice cream and in house made candy treats as well. I highly recommend The Sugar Makery and BitterSweet Dessert Bar for all your cake, candy, popcorn and dessert needs! read more

Such a nice little place to have here in Glenwood. We go for the good value ice cream cones in so many flavors, but its hard to leave without buying a little of the amazing arrays of candies. A favorite stopover for kids leaving the middle and high school as they walk toward downtown. A nice little patio behind the store for enjoying your treats outdoors. Famous for their flavored kettle corn array and old fashioned candies. read more

Want some delicious desserts? Need a sugar rush that could last for days? Look no further. This place has a nostalgic twist, incorporating old time candies and Cokes to ice creams, espresso coffees, fudges, cakes, bars, and popcorn. The area it's located at is a bit out of the way, but the store is a large emporium that acts as a beacon in the cornfields. read more

Pretty skeptical of the place going in. With two kids, we seem to wind up in a lot of different candy shops. However, this one far surpasses the others. The variety and options available. Everything from floats to homemade fudge and popcorn. It's amazing. If you haven't been, you need to go. You will not be disappointed. To add, the service is awesome. They answer any questions you may have and will also give you samples. I'd be impressed if you could pay went once. read more

I've never been to Sugar Makery's physical location but have seen their sweets in various places around Omaha. Today was Block 16's 10th anniversary, and they celebrated with giveaways including sweets from Sugar Makery. The salted caramel brownie I had was UNREAL - really gooey/fudgy but still held together well. It was the perfect "middle of the pan" consistency. Looking forward to trying SM's other items read more

Manager/owner is Always pleasant, popcorn is top notch. Fun atmosphere! Highly recommend their products. Great gift ideas.

This is absolutely my favorite place to go when I have a sweet tooth! They have the best, ice cream, candies, and soda pops, but let's talk about those popcorn balls yummy yummy yummy! read more

I bought a second Pina colada cake here today. I took it home and cut a peice right away to take to a friend. it was frozen. So hard ai couldn't cut through it with a butter knife, I had to heat a butcher knife to cut it. I had gotten one previously and loved the white light cake with pineapple between the layers and coconut on the outside. They changed the cake adding pineapple to the cake this time without asking me, which made the cake wet like the worst kind of cake pop. it was wet gooey cake. The coconut in between the layers and on the outside was over toasted and beyond chewy. This was was beyond a disappointment and after just a few bites we all threw away our pieces and throwing out the cake. My cake was $70. when I called and complained, they call one of thenstore owners and the one who made my cake who admitted it was not made the same way, she felt like it needed more pineapple and thus added it to the cake making it much wetter. she never asked me about this change, which as the customer who requested this cake because I had it before, you should stick to what I wanted. all they are willing to offer is half the cost of the cake $35 as store credit or refund. Thats fine. Inwill take refund and not come back. I have two birthdays later this month and one next month and I won't be buying anything else here again. poor customer service. Not giving the customer what they ask for and changing your cake to suit you and not me is not good customer service. Edit the other owner called me and is returning me the entire amount. I am very glad they offered a resolution. read more
