But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the (wo)man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
da da da (da da da)
da da da (da da da)
Now that I've got that song in your brain like it's in mine right now.
da da da (da da da)
da da da (da da da)
But seriously, I did walk (hike) a total of 12 miles that day and part of it included hiking to Village Bakery for breakfast during my multi city exploration with a friend early one Sunday morning! It was near insanity, but I loved every step, especially the one where I came right up to Village Bakery's door! The wafting smell of fresh bread and pastries is hard to miss if you know where to start heading towards while in Mui Wo. (Depending upon which direction you are walking from, it's near the back off of Mui Wo Ferry Pier Road, right down the street from Fusion grocery store and around the corner from Wellcome Supermarket.)
It's easy to see how it often sells out of their best sellers on weekend mornings! An assortment of trays and bins in behind clear glass doors offers a decent wall of choices. French bread and the like are their specialties but you will find many other types of breads, rolls, muffins, croissants, donuts, even cheese cakes and tarts. Need to put together a charcuterie board? No problem, they offer all the fixings for that too in their refrigerated case near the cashier counter. This tiny bakery also sells coffees, teas, flours, and beans/rice!
Nice, dark wood, tables are on the other side of the wall for customers to sit down and enjoy a cup of joe or tea to go along with their purchases. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your music, appetite, (some good walking shoes, too!) and head over to pay the Village so you can let the Proclaimers loose as you move the rhythm while munching on some desserts.... da da da (da da da) But please, don't forget your headphones because not everyone wants to hear your music!
