Problem is that they don't make the flavour all the time. I don't order a lot either so it is hard to preorder. So I basically call them every day and ask them which flavour they have for the day, and call back every few days after until I get what I want (and happy for like 2 days until that cycle repeats itself!) Seriously their macaroons are just so much better than the so called macaroons brand name stores. From appearance and flavour are A+. Knowing how to make them myself (and to lazy to make it) I really appreciate how they have the appearance and flavour. I have took so many classes on cute macaroons, those those are just cute and sugar. Theirs is professional smooth, with side edges risen well with that sharp non-deflated shape like other so called brand name stores. Their flavour is superb. Man I am dying for some but I have used up my sugar quota for the week...

We noticed the cute pastries and seats inside and decided to stop in. We decided to order several pastries including some macaroons, as well as coffee beverages. It was pleasant to sit inside the restaurant and enjoy our food and drinks. The pastries were delicious, but not better than similar ones I've tried before. Overall, we enjoyed this cafe and would consider coming back!

***Tasty Salad that could be fit for Mains!***…read more I've always loved their "Miso Cod & Japanese Eggplant Salad" so much that I could eat it for Main-course ! (Of course I might need TWO portions of it). The infusion of Sake makes the salad all the more splendid. It's a great combination of good taste and healthy ingredients. The Cod is obviously the star ingredient .... it wasn't very flaky (as fish can be a bit flaky sometimes), and yet not very hard either. It had a slightly chewy consistency which I found just perfect ! And the Eggplant?... well...because of this salad I've started liking eggplant because I NEVER used to eat it before . Obviously, the reason is that the eggplant comes out as very tasty when combined with all these ingredients! (I still wouldn't eat eggplant if it's a part of any dish except for this salad!) Other ingredients such as sesame and spring onion lend a bit of crunchiness/nuttiness to the salad which is definitely a welcome addition. Overall, I'd say this salad has awesome taste and it also helps me lose weight!

When it's a colleague's last day at the workplace, it's safe to say the one big question on…read moreeveryone's minds is usually: what kind of cake will they bring in? Some people go the extra mile and head over to the cake shop at the long-established Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop. Obviously, this differs based on workplace, culture, country etc - I'll never forget the look on an old American colleague's face when he was told the norm in the UK is to buy your OWN leaving cake and pay for leaving drinks! The Opera cake pictured is meant to be the signature dessert here and is a safe option with its velvety chocolate layers plus a hint of coffee and I am still thinking about how light the mousse sandwiched between the sponge was. My favourite bit was the crunchy layer at the bottom - literally like I was making music (note the very appropriate quaver musical note decoration). I'm not sure how willing I would be to part with almost HK$350 for a decadent but small 13x13cm opera cake. However, for HK$48, I'm happy to indulge in a little slice of luxury from time to time.

Mon dieu! It means…read moreOh. My. Gizzle. Molten yolk / flowing custard croissant 流奶牛角包, shortened to 流奶. It was one of the greatest moments in my mouth during my recent Hong Kong trip. It apparently replaced the pineapple butter croissant, which was basically the classic HK pineapple butter bun, but instead of a bun it was a croissant. This beautiful creation is basically taking the yum cha dim sum "lao sa bao" (flowing salty egg yolk custard steamed bun) but putting regular sweet molten custard inside a perfectly flakey crispy delicate layered croissant. At $22 and from a visitor's standpoint, a really good value for the quality. It may seem like a modern gimmick, but when you taste it, you cannot believe how perfect the fusion became. There was a lot of thought put into this, down to the execution, and the results speak for themselves! Even their standard plain croissant kicked so much ass, and I liked it way better than nearby Le Salon de The Joel Robuchon, which I had a day later and found it to be severely lacking. Apparently Urban Bakery's version (this particular location) comes closest to the Paris experience, and easily outperforms most croissants in San Francisco Bay Area.

My favorite Chinese bakery in Hong Kong…read more My brother said the Kee Wah bakery in International Financial Centre is larger than the one located at the basement of Sogo in Causeway Bay; perhaps there is a bigger selection. Whatever my brother says, I believe him. After all he is the wiser one. There are just two favorites I usually get in Kee Wah. They are: 1) Chinese sweet crispies (HKD20 for a pack of 4) 2) Pineapple Shortcake (HKD8.50 each) This shop is indeed bigger than the small stall in Sogo but the few things I bought can be found in the small stall as well. There are so many interesting pastries I like to get but the thought of packing them to head home to Atlanta in 9 days time is already giving me a headache. So I bought 8 pineapple shortcakes, 2 mango shortcakes (since I love mangoes!!) and two packs of sweet crispies. Will definitely try to save those pastries so I can slowly enjoy them when I return to Atlanta :)

I love their egg rolls as presents for my family and friends. Chinese Pies are not my favorite. The shell tastes like flour to me; the bean paste inside was okay. Their breads are good and reasonable, like the ones sold in Japan, soft and fluffy.
