白雪黑珍珠 Snow White Sago
Gabriel H.

You could call this place a Hong Kong dessert franchise, but it's more like a religious experience. On a particularly humid day in April, my mom and I stopped by here to cool down and get some sugar. We got the Snow White Sago (which is one of the ones they recommend) and another dessert with white fungus and jujubes. They both complemented each other SO WELL. The Snow White Sago was rich and creamy from the coconut milk, while the fungus dessert had a refreshing honey taste to it. Both really helped in cooling us down. Probably the best thing we ate on our Hong Kong trip.

I like this place... although I do prefer their competitor (Hui Lau Shan) but this one is closer so by default, they win! LOL Housed within the Langham Place Mall in Mong Kok, cozy space for anyone wanting to grab a quick dessert! And if you're really hungry, grab Ipuddo near by. If you like Chinese style dessert - then you can't go wrong with Honeymoon! I love love love all things mango! And my all time fav has to be the "Mango/Pomelo/Sago" combo at times w coconut, ice cream, grass jelly (Relax! It's not made of grass! It's herbal!). Highly recommend the Mango Pomelo Sago w/ Doa Fu Fa (aka Tofu pudding) and the Fresh fruit coconut combo. Service was quick and I enjoyed my treat immensely!

Cute little spot in the really big mall. I want to say it is in the food court because there were a lot of other food stalls around like ippudo and genki sushi. We got the durian glutinous balls, durian pancake, and matcha red bean waffles. The balls were okay. It's not something that I would crave or want to order again. The pancake on the other hand was soooooo good. It was thin on the outside with a lot of durian and a light fluffy cream on the inside. It wasn't too sweet which I prefer. The matcha red bean waffles was pretty good as well. The waffle was a little harder than I imagined, but it still wasn't bad. I love anything and everything Matcha. They had me coming back for more durian pancake the next day!!! I would like to go back and try more things, but the pancake already has me hooked!

Every time that I go back to HK for vacation, I always find myself eating lots and lots of desserts. I mean desserts shops are everywhere, how can i not indulge. Well, this particular honeymoon dessert is located at Langham Place in Mong Kok. They have different types of desserts, and the best part-there's English on the menu! On my last day in HK, i literally ordered 6 items, and everything was delicious. I had the mango pamelo sago, mango pancakes, tofu pudding with mango sauce and green tea ice cream, tong yuan, durian pancakes, and the sweet potato ginger soup. Yep! Will definitely be coming back for more!

We went here a couple of hours ago. My mom and I split a mango pancake. The mango pancake has a large mango with fluffy cream on the inside. Very good. Also very good was the iced mango that I ordered. Bits of mango mixed with bits of crushed ice. It was a very good experience as it was not crowded. It's probably best to avoid this particular location on the weekends. This is one of the many locations of this chain. Will I return? Not necessarily. Unless I am visiting the Langham Place Shopping Mall.

If your looking for something different in deserts this is the place for you. So refreshing on those hot humid days in Hong Kong. These deserts are literally forms of art and also taste as good as they look. They take credit cards here too. For those who don't like status quo and are looking for that place that stands out, this is the place for you. Dunno really the contents of what I was eating, but it tasted wonderful and was artfully done.

I loved the Hong Kong styled desserts from here. They offer mostly sago, which is basically tiny tapioca pearls in different sweet soups. I ordered the basil seed dessert with coconut milk and matcha ice cream. The matcha was intense and complemented the coconut milk nicely. The basil seeds had a nice texture. I wouldn't liked the mango sago to have some coconut milk as well. But it's basically mango chucks and mango juice with sago. Service was efficient. Everything came in a timely manner.

If you don't come to Honeymoon for dessert, you haven't been to Hong Kong. This place is the most well-known dessert chain here with 14 branches! My all time favorite is the Mango in Vanilla Sauce with Thai Black Glutinous Rice! I'm all for trying new things but whenever I come here, I just can't resist this. The black glutinous rice is chewy and sticky and when served with vanilla and mango, makes for a seriously addictive dessert. Their Mango Pomelo Sago consists of mango, grapefruit, sago and coconut milk and is a VERY close second for me. Sweet and refreshing deliciousness.. it's a classic HK dessert and also one of Honeymoon's best-sellers! Note: They also offer an assortment of hot desserts so everyone should be able to find something that suits their taste. Only down side is that this place gets quite packed, especially after dinner hours, so service can be slow. Might take a bit of effort to get the attention of the waiters when they're busy.. it also gets loud when the place is packed. Overall a great dessert place! If you're in HK as you read this, there's probably one not far from you...what are you waiting for?

It's not difficult to come by a Honeymoon Dessert in Hong Kong - they're all over the place in Kowloon, HK Island, and the New Territories! For the indecisive, Honeymoon's extensive menu consisting of both Westernized sweet desserts and more traditional, less-sweet Cantonese style desserts may be overwhelming to look through. Desserts include fruity drinks, sago, puddings, stuffed pillow puffs, hot and cold varieties... the list goes on. Portion sizes are decent and can be shared easily between two people. But it's best to eat here in medium to large groups so there are plenty of desserts to go around and try. I tried the fresh mango and Thai glutinous black rice over vanilla sauce for my first night in Hong Kong. The vanilla sauce was more like a vanilla flavored slushy/cream blend; the flavor was very distinct and it was very refreshing. The fresh mango was ripe and juicy, but the glutinous rice was a bit too chewy and dense to my liking. On another night, I tried the grass jelly with ice cream over vanilla sauce. The grass jelly was firm, gelatinous, and mildly herbal, and the two scoops of different flavored ice cream provided enough variety in the dessert. Lines are very long in the evening after dinner, around 7 to 8pm. However service is quick so you'll be seated in no time. Honeymoon Dessert is THE place to satisfy your sweet tooth in Hong Kong.

I was recommended by friends to visit this place. So went to Langham mall and found Honeymoon Dessert. This is an actual desert place and is not one of those where they just sells Honeymoon dessert items. So came here and got the Durian Bali leaf desert. There are two in a box for $35. Not bad for that price because I can taste the strong durian flavor. The restaurant is very clean and staff are very friendly. I enjoyed their dessert and highly recommend it. This is not their only location. It seems like they are almost everywhere in HK. I mean Yata sells their products.

Since Hong Kong Honeymoon Dessert Group established its first store in Sai Kung District of Hong Kong in 1995, it has developed into the current chainstores from a home-style dessert shop popular among the local customers especially the young generation of Hong Kong. Besides, it has won the respect and appreciation from domestic patrons and foreign tourists. Now Honeymoon Dessert has established its name in dessert field. Welcome traveler to ask me questions about Hong Kong & follow my Yelp if you love my Yelping.

Looooove this place! 我超喜欢满记甜品!!!! This is my "go to" place for Asian style desserts in HK!! There are a few chains in HK but I always go to the one in Langham because of its proximity to my hotel. It's always crowded whenever I go so I end up ordering take away most of the time. I love the mango crepe, 很好吃!Highly recommended!

The good stuff on the menu :)

Maybe I just got really unlucky and chose the worst items on the menu... but this place doesn't really live up to its hype... 1. Mango Pomelo & Sage Sweet Soup With Grass Jelly Well it taste exactly like it's name... the mango taste like mango (pretty sweet though), the grass jelly reminds me of canned ones sold at the supermarket and the sweet juice, I have absolutely no idea where that's from... just artificial flavoring? I mean if I wanted to eat a bowl of fruits, I could do so and buy them all myself without paying like (40 HKD or 5.00~6.00 USD) Out of 10, probably around 5.25... 5 for the fruits and .25 for well...the fork and spoons were nice. 2. Durian Pancakes..... gross. Sorry, this is absolutely horrendous... 1st impression looks good but once you close your eyes to focus on the flavor, you would think it would taste like durian + cream. When in reality, it actually tastes like dumplings with cream... cold dumplings... cold frozen rotten dumplings, left a bad taste in my mouth. Ugh. and with the thought of that in mind, it's pretty disgusting even if it's looked good on the menu with its green thingy plastic wrapper... I want to throw up. Out of 10, more like a 1.5 for looks.

They have a couple of locations and I went to the one located in Central HK that was near my hotel. The shop was pretty small and was on the middle of an incline hill. The shop is pretty small and tight. There is only one person working in the front. The table we sat in was not clean. It was sticky and the employee did not bother to wipe it even when we were seated. We have to order through a QR code. There was a seasonal flavor which was strawberry sake at the time. I got the strawberry panna cotta kakigori. Strawberry panna cotta: The strawberry flavor was artificial. The inside of the kakigori was artificial strawberry cream and whipped cream. The shaved ice was icy and crunchy. It was not soft. It was made by regular tap water ice instead of the milk/cream ice that Japan would use. There was no panna cotta on the bottom. It was just more whipped cream that I think they were fooling us thinking we wouldn't notice. Overall, the kakigori was not cheap. It was about $20 USD. It was huge, the same size as you would get in Japan. I think the size is enough for 2 people to share. Another thing is that they include 10% service charge on the receipt. Barely any service but whatever, most restaurant in HK automatically include a 10% service charge. I recommend to try traditional HK dessert dishes instead of this fail imitation of kakigori.

They visited Oddies and we wanted to try egg waffles so we walked there. Getting there was admittedly a steep trek but it was completely worth the walk. It's a small shop that was easy to miss, but there was a nice spot to sit down inside. We bought the Fancy Pants parfait, which was somewhat pricey (about $10 US). We opted to eat it on the way back to our hotel. The gelato was soft and creamy, and had multiple layers of tantalizing flavors (peanut butter, cookie chunks, etc.). It was super flavorful and delicious. The egg waffles themselves were crispy on the outside and custardy and soft on the inside. They were the perfect amount of sweetness and absolutely delectable when eaten in a spoon with the ice cream. Such a shame too, since they had really interesting flavors like Cheese Christ and whatnot. The egg waffle dessert itself was awesome, but there was some sour pudding on the bottom that I did not enjoy. Not really sure what that was, to be honest, but the rest was delicious nonetheless. Don't get me wrong, the food is gorgeous and definitely more attractive than my face is. But minus 1 star for the really really slow service and sour surprise in the dessert. BUT STILL!! Well yea, I can be a freak lol, but in this case it's all the bakeries "so far", not all were exceptional, but damn most are! Tai Cheong Bakery is the OG of bakeries on my list. Established in 1954 here on Lyndhurst Terrace, Tai Cheong Bakery is a legendary Hong Kong bakery famed for pioneering cookie-crust egg tarts. Known as a favorite of the last British Governor, Chris Patten, it is considered a must-visit for warm, buttery egg tarts, along with their signature Sha Weng (Chinese donuts). Bakehouse and Hashtag B Bakeries are the innovative ones that turned the "egg tart wars" upside down with modern recipes and Michelin baby followers lol. On the other side you have Tai Cheong Bakery that has been using the same recipe for 72 years. All amazing bakeries yet something in my heart will always favor the originals. On my visit I arrived about 10 minutes before opening and was second in line. For the 10 minutes I chatted with the sweet Korean lady who was there for the same reason as me... original egg tarts! There's a menu sign posted outside - lucky for those waiting in line because it's a photo menu with Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English translation. Once the doors opened I was second in line and the line of about a dozen formed behind me. Auntie greeted me in English and I ordered the following: Egg Tart (Cookie Crust) 12 HK$ x2, Puff Pastry Egg Tart 12 HK$, Milk Protein Egg Tart 15 HK$, BBQ Pork Pastry 7 HK$ x2. I actually wanted the Coconut Egg Tart, but oddly I ended up with eh Milk Protein Egg Tart. Ok, still ate it! Ambiance can be described as a good chi bakery, and apparently this is the original location from 1954, if so it was really clean and inviting. I didn't see a sit-down area tho. Everything I had delicious, yes including the Milk Protein Egg Tart I didn't order lol. The traditional Egg Tart (Cookie Crust) amazing with flaky crust and tasty filling expected from only the best Dan Tat! In the end, Tai Cheong Bakery is a must for egg tart fanatics. In fact, the menu was diverse enough to walk out with no egg tarts and still be happy as a clam. I heard the buns here are delicious. My only regret was not having a second visit, but it's only because it's located in Central and I was staying in Causeway Bay. Next time I'll jump on the Ding Ding for a second visit! There is a reason why this place is so popular: it feels very home-y with the booths along the sides of the shop and round family-style tables. We arrived around 9:20pm on a Monday night, with little to no line. Just a short 5 minute wait for tables to clear up. In that time, we noticed dessert bowls served in pretty yellow Chinese-style porcelain bowls. Once seated, a Chinese menu peered up at us from under a glass-topped table. I quickly asked for an English menu and a lady kindly brought it to us. I was originally eyeing the walnut cream 合桃露 or the almond cream 杏仁露, but considering my slight cough, decided against anything nutty and heavy, and went for the red bean sweet soup with tangerine peel 陳皮紅豆沙, and boy am I GLAD that I did. It wasn't too dense or too watery. The red bean was blended quite smoothly into the soup with small chunks here and there. There were no visibly large red beans as you would see in other places. While I previously preferred the large chunky "hong dao sa", I think my tastes buds have changed, and have found my go-to place at Yuen Kee. In addition, what I liked best was the use of the tangerine peel - which gave the red bean soup a new uplifting citrus-y smell and taste, and provided a pleasant and natural sweetness to the soup (compared with overly and unnaturally sweet ones elsewhere). My friend's sesame soup 芝麻湖 was just as delicious! Like my red bean soup, it was perfectly blended, and not too grainy, nor too thick or goopy of a sesame mixture. I only wish ALL the desserts came in the yellow bowls - ours came in plain white bowls. You can be sure I'll be back once my health is fully restored.
