First time I tried Jenny's bakery's cookies was 12 years ago. At that time, there was a long, long line-up and we had to wait about 30 minutes？I started lining up before shop opened. Now, Line-up seems to have calm down, we went their relocated location before noon, and I waited 5 minutes. Still a lot of customers purchased their cookies. I got 4 mix butter cookie tin - Butter, Coffee, Shortbread &Raisin Oats. It was not a big surprise like the first time I had the cookies, still their cookies tasted so good. Buttery, but light, and so delicious. Shortbread and raisin oats were good, too, however, my favorite is still butter and coffee cookies. - Bring cash I really like Jenny's bakery and this is my second time getting it fr the store. Since last year they have moved to a bigger store inside a building on the second floor. It was a bit difficult to find. When I went in early Friday afternoon, the line was short. Remember it's cash only so you need to reserve some cash for this purchase. I will give them 4 stars just for the hype as I didn't eat any of their cookies. Note the store opens at 10am. Yelp says 9 am. As others have said a bit difficult to find. Their old location is on the ground floor (floor 0?) there are signs saying to go to store 42 on "1st" floor. One flight up. There was a short line when we arrived at 9:30 which really became a long line within 10 minutes. So get there early? They serve you quick but make sure you know what you want. Their menu is easily available at the counter so you can point and say how many of each you want. The worker we got was middle aged and a bit course in her customer service. After seeing all the hype about these cookies, I had to try them myself. Luckily my hotel was nearby and I started to line up around 9:30AM on a weekday and there was already a long line. The store opened early around 9:55AM and the line moved really quickly! I was in and out within 15 minutes! I got a few boxes as souvenirs and they held really well back to NYC. They were sealed in these really cute and sturdy tins! I got the small 4 mix butter cookies ($80HKD) and they were really good! My favorites were the shortbread and butter flower cookie. I wasn't too impressed with the raisin oat. The only downside was that the coffee flower had a really strong scent and it kind of spread onto the other cookies. I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Hong Kong! Quick tip: know what you want before getting to the front and have cash/exact change ready and it'll be quick and easy! Bring a reusable bag to carry them if you plan on buying a lot or it'll cost $1HKD per bag. I was a bit confused on where this was located but if you're on Moby Street, look for the entrance to Mirador Mansion and walk inside. Take the first flight of stairs you see to the left and walk up one flight and you'll arrive at the entrance of Jenny's Bakery! It can get really hot while waiting on line too! One of my favorite cookies spots in Hong Kong. I always try to stop by the store whenever I am in Hong Kong, and I will go out of the way if needed to visit here. There is almost always a line when visiting this store, but the line moves quickly because there are multiple people helping out the customers. Note that this place is cash only. Food Quality: I ordered the four variety butter cookies. Sweet but very good. Taste much better than the looks. Good to enjoy with coffee or milk tea. A Price: Relatively expensive. Approximately 10.00 USD for the tin. Price is usually marketed towards tourists, but I see many locals lining up as well. But the taste is worth the price. B Ambiance/Service: Don't expect western-style "friendly" service here. I would look at the menu online and know what you want to buy before getting in line. Although the employees mainly speak Cantonese, they have pictures of the products and English descriptions that you can point to. A-/B+ Overall Rating: A/A-. The other location also has long lines however this location in particular is poorly run where people will often cut the line "pretending" to look at the menu items and then walk straight in to order. It's really annoying. They also run out of cookies WAY earlier than the other location. This location is also much more dirty and way too crowded. read more

Before my trip to Hong Kong, I came across reviews of Jenny Bakery, claiming that they were probably the "best butter cookies in the world." I found that a bit preposterous, but I was definitely intrigued, especially since there were articles written about a "black market" for butter cookies because these cookies were so good. While I did want to try these cookies, they were pretty low on my itinerary. It wasn't until my grandma wanted to bring us to buy cookies did I end up here. "Grandma, that's crazy. You'd wait on this long line by yourself to buy these cookies?" "They make really good gifts." My grandma doesn't talk to a lot of people outside of family because of her age. If word of mouth of how good these cookies could reach her (and me, 8000+ miles away), they must be REALLY good. The way people were lined up in an obscure and dim lit part of the shopping complex, paired with people carrying rolling suitcases did make these cookies seem shady. The line snaked outside the bakery and far out the hallway. The line looked intimidating, but moved quickly. Tourists and locals didn't mind waiting 15 minutes for a shot to buy these cookies, although the sheer size of the line surprised tourists alike, including me. Once inside, the process was very assembly line-like. There are a few other types of cookies which they sell, but butter cookies are the main attraction. They have 2 sizes (small/large) as well as a 4 cookie mix, individual flavor tins, and a 2 cookie mix. I'd recommend the 2 cookie mix as the flower cookies have the strongest butter flavor. Tell the person behind the cashier what you want, and they'll grab it from the counter behind them. Pay the lady, and you're on your way. The cookies themselves were really impressive. They're handmade and have a really strong butter flavor which catches you by surprise if you've never had one of their cookies before. The flower cookies are incredibly flaky, almost like a pastry but with the stiffness of a cookie, and butter dense. The coffee flower cookie is my mom's favorite. The strong coffee taste and sweet butter are a unique flavor combination that can't be found elsewhere, unlike the other 2 cookies, plain butter and raisin, which are okay too but not as good as the coffee flower and butter flower cookies. The cookies are really good, however in the end, they are only cookies. The line is definitely not for the faint of heart, and if you were expecting an "actual" bakery with glass displays, pastries, drinks and good customer service, you're out of luck because you'll find none of that here. If you want to be a part of the legal cookie trade and experience Cookie Monster's life outside of filming Sesame Street, this is the place for you. read more

Stepping out of the subway, my 2 friends and I were confused what this long line was before our eyes. Quickly laughing at the imitation iphone line before us, we walked past this group and into the building where Jenny Bakery was. Seeing as there was no line, we happily walked up to the store to be rejected for not having a ticket pass....which is what the line outside was for. Realizing that we were the true idiots for laughing at others, we joined the long line that was outside. It was probably a 20-30 minute wait for the whole line up, pick up, and pay process. The supplies were low as everyone is limited to only 2 boxes per person and by the time we left, I think only 10 more people behind us were able to get their own tins. Each of us paid 70 hkd for the small tin which resulted in 6 small tins for 420 hkd (54ish usd = $9ish dollars each tin). On a request from a friend to help purchase these, we gifted 2 and kept 4 for ourselves to share with our families. Upon opening the tin, the air becomes filled with buttery goodness as you can smell the type of cookies contained within the package. Our tin had the 4 flavors which included hard butter cookie, coffee flavored , raisin and oat, and soft butter cookie. Each are quite delicious. Definitely will try to come back to sample the rest of what they offer and share their yummy goods with friends and family. People here may be crazy as we witnessed a lady tried to cut the line and was rejected by the ticket handler. This lady then proceeded to complain to the desk about how she lined up the entire time and demanded a box. Luckily, we felt as if the store is used to dealing with these crazy people all the time so they didn't even flinch or give in to the angry lady's demands. Queued for an hour for these cookies. I cant say if it's really worth the queue. It's not the best butter cookies I tasted. However the cookies has the melt in the mouth texture which I like. Also, I like the cute baby blue metal tin that has cute teddy bears on it. That's why I've given them 3 stars for this. Why not 5 stars? The reason as follows. Somehow I feel that although the cookie has melt in the mouth texture, it's actually a bit on the dry side. It makes me feel like I need to drink water to wash the cookie down. I've bought the 4 in 1 cookies. Frankly speaking I can't tell if there's any difference in the taste from 1 cookie to the other. Perhaps the coffee cookie has such strong smell that made the rest of the cookie tasted like the coffee cookie. The staffs at the store, I will say they can be quite rude. Of course I can't blame them. When I was at the store, I noticed there are a lot of tourist from China trying to cut queue. The lady immediately shoo them out Bd told them no ticket not allowed to buy. A few of them refuses to move away and join the queue to buy the cookies. The counter people refuses to sell to them and they have to go queue. I bet the staffs have to deal with people like that everyday so can't expect them to be nice to them. Seriously, for over a decade every time I go to HK, I make sure to grab a tin or three. This particular location is located inside mirador mansion. For those not familiar with Hong Kong, the mansions in Tsim Tsa Tsui are kind of the shady parts of town, but that keeps it interesting right? The store itself has a small line but sometimes there is a much larger line outside on the sidewalk to get to the smaller line inside. We didn't know that initially and just queue jumped in the smaller line, oops.. we came back a second time and we tried the same shenanigans but got called out on it and had to queue in the longer line, so the line up is sometimes disorganized to say the least! But once in, the transaction is pretty quick, which side tin you want, pay and you're done and on to devouring some buttery goodness!! Nom nom nom!! read more

I don't care if these cookies were made by a Cordon Bleu chef and if they are phenomenal in taste because nothing makes up for the horrible service they've offered. Jenny Bakery opened in 2005 and over the past couple of years, have been flooded by tourists from Mainland China. Last year, in 2014, when I tried to get cookies, the line was out the door, into the streets. I decided against buying cookies. This year, there was no line because of the huge decrease in Mainland tourists. As soon as I walked in, a woman began to immediately yell at me in Mandarin and I kindly told her I didn't understand her. She then had the audacity to yell at me and ask me if I was even Chinese. I then spoke to her in English and told her I only spoke Cantonese and English and asked her if she was going to sell me those cookies. She reluctantly sold me 2 cans of the 4 mix. The coffee flavoured cookies are awful. The butter flavoured cookies are okay but were overpowered by the coffee flavour cookies and had a residual coffee taste. Overall, not worth the hype at all. You can taste better cookies in SO many other places without that attitude that you have to choke on. read more

I CANNOT believe all the hype of this establishment. I would have been even MORE mad if I had to wait in a long line like people say they do. Luckily, I went on a day when there was barely any line and was able to get these cookies pretty fast. The experience in obtaining these so-called "addictive cookies" was DISGUSTING. The building its located in, the people that work there, and most importantly the taste. The ladies that work there were soooo rude, you MUST know exactly what you are getting before your turn and have your exact cash ready to hand over, or else you'll get bitched in canto lol. Behind us were 20 people (mostly mainland China) pushing the lines, yelling, and trying to cut in front. I could feel the woman's breath behind me so I had to turn around and asked her to give me space. I would go crazy if I had to deal with customers like that everyday.
