While in Hong Kong, my friend recommended going to the Koi Kei Bakery to grab some almond cookies which they are known for. They taste great with tea and are great as a snack. I love these! They also are packaged individually in the box and come with a plastic tiered tray which separates each cookie and holds it well for transport. I bought several of these. The cookies come in many flavors: black sesame, almond, and pork floss to name just a few. Each box has 12 cookies and it's well worth it for me to haul a bunch home to the States! If you come here, bring a huge tote with you because you will want to buy everything!
This particular store is small, but it was walkable distance to our hotel so it was very convenient. I bought a whole lot of these almond paste cookies. In addition they have other snacks and pastries but I tend to stick to what I know I like to eat. These cookies also make good souvenirs as they are much pricier overseas.
They do take credit card I believe but if you pay cash they give you a little discount. I'm not sure if that is a promotion or a standard policy. Also if you buy a certain amount they might throw in a free item here and there. We got a sample box from them for FREE. Peanut brittle here is great!
The staff were friendly; let us look around without much bother. They offered samples of items. The chain is originally from Macau so they have larger stores on that island. Selection in this store was small but adequate for my needs. I can't wait to return for more snacks!!! Now I know I don't have to go all the way to Macau to buy these cookies like last time! read more
