    Pastry case

Small bakery with lots of good eats. There are fresh pizzas by the whole pie or by the slice. Lots of bread to choose from and a beautiful case of pastries! Service is friendly and helpful. I had a little issue with one of my pastries and staff swapped it out no problem~ I got a butter croissant and a cream puff. The pastry style is rustic but charming. The butter croissant is flaky on the outside and decently soft of the inside. Not a lot of puff but buttery delicious nonetheless. It tastes a little oniony since it's right next to a savory pastry in the case, but I like onions so I don't mind~ The cream puff has a firm choux shell, which provide good structural integrity. A little hard for my personal preference but I'm a picky eater haha. The cream is vanillay and overall tasted good~ The places smells so good of pizza so I definitely wanna come back to try more. Btw there are seatings inside and outside. So you can enjoy some hot pizza on the spot!

I am almost positive that I had a dream about a perfect pizza place like the Village Bakery. I was small enough to feel cozy, warm and welcoming, but it was in the middle of Davis nightlife. There was a variety of slices warming under an orange light. The minute we paid for our pizza, it was hot, ready and seconds away from being devoured. The pizza itself was wonderful. I had a host of fresh veggies and a lightly flavored sauce that didn't overpower the vegetables. The crust was sturdy enough to hold the cheese and fixings but chewy enough to pinch and pull and dip in the sauce. I regard an evening in Davis differently after enjoying pizza at this cute spot.

This sweet little Davis bakery has been around for 25 years located on the corner right across from the Amtrak station.Excellent selection of pastries and fresh breads. Also, known for their pizza slices "to go". I always grab a loaf of bread & cookies along with the pizza. A few outside tables for dining. Prices are reasonable. Can be a line for pizza during lunch hour so come early!

Loved the convenient location across from the Amtrak station for Davis! Fabulous food at reasonable prices beautifully displayed for "quick" selection if you already know what you want to order. I ordered a slice of cheese pizza, Parmesan garlic bread and whole wheat bread. I was able to get the loaves sliced before I left. Parmesan garlic bread is simply amazing!!! Can't wait to return and try more items. Lovely shop and highly recommend!

Get that chocolate eclair in my belly! (Bottom right)

*** Vegetarian Review *** Village Bakery is a true mainstay in Davis, California, and it's no wonder why. This old school establishment has been serving the community for over 25 years, making it a cherished local gem. Whether you're craving a delicious slice of pizza or seeking the perfect artisan bread to start your day, Village Bakery has got you covered. Their freshly baked breads are a treat for early risers and a testament to their commitment to quality. Would I Come Back? Heck yeah. This is one of places I bring visitors to for a slice of Davis. Plenty of vegetarian options. Comparisons: Their pizzas are cooked in a brick oven so if you're a fan of Upper Crust Bakery on their Wednesday pizza nights, you'll really enjoy Village. Both are bakeries first so their pizza crusts are next level. For a more National comparison, Blaze pizza is close, but again, it's the crust. Tips for First Timers: 1. Free street parking 2. Call in advance or use the App. They can get busy so use your time wisely. 3. Whole pizzas and slices are available after 11am. 4. Daily meal deal ... 1 slice, 1 salad, and 1 soda. 5. Scone of the day. See my photos for the menu. 6. 4 inside chairs. 2 outside tables. And if you happen to be in the mood for something sweet instead, Village Bakery has got you covered there too. Their menu boasts a big selection of housemade desserts that will satisfy any sweet tooth. Indulge in their Napoleons, fluffy cream puffs, decadent eclairs, delectable fruit tarts, or the classic Italian favorite, tiramisu. With such a variety of mouthwatering treats, you'll surely find the perfect ending to your meal. With all the tempting choices available, it's the pizzas at Village Bakery that truly steal the show and make it a must-visit spot. Their diverse menu caters to all palates, including a fantastic range of vegetarian options like the delightful Roasted Bell Pepper, Eggplant, Greek, Artichoke, and Spinach pizzas. And for the meat lovers in your life, they make it easy ... just order the Meat Lovers pizza. Custom Vegetarian Pizza ($27.50, Grade A) - It all starts with their generous 16" cheese pizza, which is already a satisfying choice at $23. But the customization options take it to the next level. For just an additional $1 each, you can enhance your pizza with toppings like mushrooms, tomatoes, and spinach. And if you're feeling adventurous, I highly recommend adding the roasted onions for an extra $1.50. The portion is large enough for three or two particularly hungry individuals. The perfectly melted cheese and melt-in-your-mouth crust make every bite a treat. I personally love enjoying the crusts with pads of butter. Village Bakery strikes a fantastic balance with their toppings, never overloaded or under-loaded, which ensures even cooking and a harmonious bite every time. Desserts: Don't forget to treat yourself to one of Village Bakery's tempting dessert options before leaving. My personal favorite is the indulgent chocolate eclair -- it doesn't leave that film in your mouth after you eat it. And their sticky bun is also a must. Everything is all made in-house and for those that don't like overly sweet desserts, this is your spot. For comparison, California State Fair goers are aware of the famous cinnamon roll (aka sticky bun) in the exhibit hall. I look forward to that particular fair food every year. Eating this sticky bun more than satisfies that yearly craving. Bottom Line: Village Bakery in Davis, California, is a cherished mainstay that has been serving the community for over 25 years. Their friendly service, always hot pizzas, and delicious housemade desserts make it a must-visit spot. Whether you're craving a slice or a whole pie, Village Bakery has earned its enduring reputation for good reason.

this is garlic parmesan cheese bread (purchased at taylor's in sacramento this morning). eek. inclusions totally unmixed, so theres just a horrible paste of uncooked garlic and unmelted cheese in it. :(

    Tiramisu

Got a slice of pepperoni pizza and some tiramisu. The pizza was really good, however the tiramisu was frozen in the middle making it have a crunchy texture. While the flavor was good, the crunchiness put me off.

Since, I live in Los Angeles, it's best to leave it to the locals who know the good spots. I let her do the ordering, since I am not too picky and wiling to try new things. We ordered her favorite Davis Classic pizza (Pepperoni, Sausage, Olives, Mushrooms, Red Onion), Ranch Garden salad with Pesto dressing (Greens, Red Onion, Mozzarella, Bacon, Croutons) and Man Cave Chicken Wings (BBQ and Dry Rub flavors). The pizza was fully loaded with toppings, they do not skimp! One slice was hearty and good enough for me, along with the salad and wings. The restaurant has a dozen TVs for watching all the sports. There's an upper level loft with additional tables for groups, and celebrations. This was a great choice for the location, tasty food and good value for the price. Sincerely, Rosemary

There a small arcade section in the back of the restaurant, The restrooms were clean. We ordered an XL half All-Meat, half Club pizza, a large cinnabread, and fountain drinks. The pizza was really good! They put pizza sauce in the crust which was a tasty surprise. The cinnabread was delicious and not too sweet. Now the service was pretty disappointing. As we were enjoying our food, the restaurant became noticeable more busy. A waitress came up and asked us if we were planning on leaving within the next hour because there was a reservation coming in. My parents were completely shocked that they would even come up to ask us. It came off as really rude and as if they were trying to get us to leave. Regardless if you have a reservation coming, we were here first and you should've reserved a table earlier.

He finally arrived and we sat there for another 20 minutes until the waitress decided to come back and take our order. She wasn't the most friendliest, seemed to be a bit irritated and you could hear her nect to the bar talking w the other waiters complaining about customers. Our food took forever to arrive and I could see other people waiting for service also and water which was taking forever. The food finally arrived. The appetizerbruschetta was good, and husband liked his calzone, everything else was mediocre. While we were sitting there still eating, the waitress had the audacity to come by our table and didn't just put down but almost a flung, slid boxes in the middle our table- we all looked at one another, like? That was a turn off, because it wasn't even close to closing time, we were still eating after waiting for the food. So we just left, my fiancé thought that was extremely rude of her, didn't even ask us if we wanted the boxes, just came over and tossed them onto the table. Rude.. I also had asked her for a fork earlier and she reponded with a disgusted face and a (what?) I used the restroom also which wasn't the cleanest. Manager contacted me, very professional and was obviously not content about the outcome and review. She took this seriously, and wanted to get down to the bottom of this and rectify the issue at hand. That made me feel more at ease.

My friends and I have been going to every pizza place in Sacramento to see who has the best slice…read more This first paragraph is our rating from that review. When it comes to pizza places we rate, a 5/10 is as average as it gets. Anything below a 5 is below average, while anything above is above average. The price was a 6/10 for us. Not as expensive as some other places around here, but definitely not a cheap pizza either. When it comes to flavor however, we've decided to give it an 8.75/10. Our overall for Mountain Mikes leaves us at a 7.5/10. Now for this location. My best friend is a student at UC Davis and so I come up here to visit all the time. It was picnic day and if you know anything about Davis, then you know how many people show up and party that day. It was also her 21st birthday so I was in charge of taking care of her while she drank. By the end of the day, I took her back to her apartment and ordered her a pizza. She asked for "The Everest" made with white sauce. So obviously I went ahead and ordered it. It said that our pizza would be delivered in an hour. It took an hour and a half, but I'm assuming because it was picnic day and all 75,000 people were looking for food. No big deal, she was asleep during the time I ordered it so it wasn't like the delivery time was that important to us. When the pizza arrived, I brought it inside and opened it up. The thing that jumped out to us immediately was the pizza not having white sauce on it. When we bit into the pizza we found it was cold. There shouldn't have been any reason why the pizza arrived cold, as the apartment was less than a mile away. Normally I would go pick it up myself but with the Davis picnic day traffic, as well as me taking care of my drunk friend, pickup wasn't an opportune choice. With all that being said, we still ate the pizza and enjoyed every second of it. Even cold and missing the white sauce we ordered, it still tasted good. I would have been a lot more upset if I hadn't found a coupon online that dropped the price by $10. If you like good pizza, I'd go ahead and give Mountain Mikes a shot. They're expensive, but taste great. Just don't order them on picnic day like I did.
