Breakfast pizza

Our favorite breakfast spot in spring lake/grand haven. The breakfast pizza is unreal. Here's usually a wait on the weekends but it's worth the wait. You can call ahead and get on the list as well or make a reservation. The chocolate scones from the bakery are SO DELICIOUS as well. There's sooo many chocolate chips in every bite. Highly recommend.

Cute as a button. Quick in and out. And delicious!! The parking is in the rear as is the entrance. Use car driving back there as it is a tight corner.

This place is amazing .. from the bakery to the restaurant. From the great tasting fresh food to the excellent service. From the location to the choices in food. Wish the pizza had a little more sauce, but it was still delicious. The burger and fry was oh so fresh. The spinach artichoke dip was well worth it, and tons of dip for the price. We will be back for more delicious desserts, pretzels and the food.

Gluten free pizza, wife says, 'best pizza ever'! Any pizza can be made on a GF crust.

Too many selections that look great. Will have to come back to try more. My wife ordered GF pizza and said it was the best ever. My breakfast sandwich was awesome. Fast service and great ambiance.

I love the coziness and quaint atmosphere of Village Baker. It is a small restaurant, but worth the wait. We arrived on a Saturday at 5pm and there was no wait. Our server greeted us shortly after sitting down and grabbed our drinks. We also had a couple of pretzels. We started with spinach and artichoke dip. This is my all time favorite spin dip. The buttery homemade bread dippers are what makes this phenomenal. My husband and I both had mules and they were delicious. I had a pizza and my husband the spaetzle. Both great dishes! Our server was so kind and friendly. We headed over to the bakery for a few things to go. Highly recommend all of their sweets!

Solid brekkie spot that's popular among locals and visitors. Service was prompt, regular, and friendly. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast. Looked amazing, but tasted mainly like a cinnamon roll that had simply been covered in bananas and syrup. I couldn't figure out what was "French toast-y" about it. Maybe a (longer) soak in the egg batter? Buttermilk pancakes here aren't light and fluffy; they're thinner, more crepe-like and are wet in the middle--but that is how some folks like 'em. Crab meat omelet had lots of real jumbo lump crab (yum!). Sides like bacon and hashbrowns are unremarkable but they did the job. All that said, if you ask me, the adjoining bakery is the real star. Actually, it deserves its own five-stars. A German pal of mine said Village Baker's pretzels are the closest you can get to actually being in Germany--that's high praise! Loads of other delectable confections, breads, and bakery treats. Don't drool on the glass cabinets. :-P

YUM!!!! We were in Spring Lake for a wedding and got a great tip to try Village Baker. We went for lunch and actually ended up going back for dinner and breakfast the next morning. We had a variety of food and everything was amazing! It's such a cute place too. There is a coffee shop & bakery on one side, bar in the middle, and tables in the 3rd section. Everyone was so nice too! Leanne, Stacy, and manager Jason were awesome and made us feel right at home! This is a must when you're in Spring Lake!

I have always had the soft pretzels from the Village Baker but I've never actually dined at their restaurant. I had high expectations because it is such a staple to the Spring Lake and surrounding community. When we arrived, we were standing at the hostess stand for about 8-10 minutes with workers walking by and no one greeting us or saying someone would be with us. There were empty tables and no other people waiting. It is so important for businesses to give a positive first impression and unfortunately they missed the mark. I finally waited for someone to come by again and I said we were ready to be seated. The hostess had a negative look on her face and was not personable at all. The face of your business is the hostess. We then got seated. The space is comfortable, some of the tables are pretty close together. Our waitress was fine overall. Unfortunately what really put a damper on the visit was when my eggs Benedict came out, the egg was off the English muffin. But they still served it to me like that. See photo. To me that tells me they would rather serve that than quickly redoing the one egg for proper plating for a customer. Dining out is an experience and the plating is part of that experience. I was so bummed because I am a food blogger and this was not photo worthy to share with my followers. As a business, your reputation comes out of that window on every plate. The waitress brought our food and said "oh yeah the egg slipped off but it'll still taste good." And handed me my food. To me that was tacky. It also wasn't great because when I tried to lift the egg on top of the English muffin, the yolk broke and went all over my hash browns. I don't like my food touching so it was slightly frustrating. There are several reasons why plating is so important, and the Village Baker definitely missed the mark. The presentation was not what I expected from such a recommended establishment. People also dine with their eyes and this was not appealing. I read reviews on here after my visit and it seems that there have been previous plating issues mentioned but it's sad that no action has been taken. The eggs Benedict was not my favorite and I would not order it again. The hollandaise sauce did not have flavor. The iced coffee was good. Nothing is giving me the urge to visit again. I wish them success in the future but with success they need to accept constructive criticism and fix the things that reviewers are saying.

Came here my kids and some friends after blueberry picking. What a gem! Sat outside and one of there many salads and pizza! So delicious. Their pizza was one of the best thin crust pizzas I've had in along time, and they have a lot of different inventive options. The crust is really think and crisp. Saturdays and Sundays the place serves breakfast till 2:30, but we were told by server the kitchen was over done with breakfast (at 2pm on Saturdays). We had 4 kids ordering the Bavarian pretzels which they all devoured with a side. We sat outside in their small patio which was nice. Definitely want to come here again for more pizza and to try one of their other salads. Israeli couscous was an ingredient in a couple salad options! After lunch we headed to the bakery to check it out. At that late afternoon time, muffins and scones were 1/2 off. Order an apricot and blueberry scone, lemon poppyseed muffin, a couple cookies, macaroon, and some mini cannolis. All were delicious!

Three stars only because it is a busy place! Which is a good sign that it's a local favorite. We had quite a bit of a wait and there wasn't a great place to hang around that wasn't in the way of staff and other diners. With that said they had a good variety for the menu, and everything we ordered was tasty! There really is a local diner vibe to the place and the outdoor seating, though fills up quickly, looked very lovely. Keep an eye on their hours, as they closed at 2:30 while we were having a late lunch.

Amazing artichoke dip no complaints with this dish.

Best Pizza in town. Highly recommend the Margarita Pizza (ask for extra basil because they don't put enough on) and the Mediterranean Pizza

Met up with a friend for brunch at Morning Star recently. It was my first time visiting and I was…read moreexcited since breakfast/brunch is my favorite meal to order out! There was a bit of a wait but they have a little area to sit and browse the menu. The place is cozy and homey, a bit crowded but not too bad. Our server was really helpful and kind. I ordered a coffee, and they have alcoholic options if you'd like a bloody mary, spiked coffee, mimosa, etc. I liked that they brought me my own little carafe for the table. We ordered a blueberry pancake for the table, and I got the tree hugger (zucchini, yellow squash, tomato, mushroom, baby spinach, black beans, and cheese, served over diced redskin potatoes. I also added eggs. The pancake was fluffy and sweet, and very large which was great for us to split. I really wanted some vegetables so I was very happy with the tree hugger. It was cheesy and warm, and all the veggies were delicious. I added some hot sauce which made it perfect! My friend got the breakfast burrito which looked really good. I'm glad I got to try this spot and would come back! They do have a lunch menu during the week as well (it said lunch items are limited on weekends).

This is a local favorite. But if you're not local, let me give you a review…read more I have mixed feelings about this place. First off let me point out that there is no private parking lot for this place. This is no big deal if you're from a bigger city like GR, Chi or NYC. But if you're from a smaller town like Muskegon, Coopersville or Fremont where every business has their own private lot this might be a major inconvenience to you. park across the street or on the street if you can find a spot. I was patronizing MSC on a very cold day. This old location has no air lock on the front door, so everytime it opens to let customers exit or enter....the cold air rushes in. Keep that in mind when choosing your table. The restaurant has a warehouse feel to it, similar to the Blue Porch on Beacon Blvd. If you like that style....great. If not you have to deal with acoustics, and a cold drafty feeling, especially in the Winter. Food was actually in line with other restaurants in town unless you want to start getting fancy with the "specials." Believe me, those specials are very popular. Especially the waffle/pancake dishes that are similar to a super sweet dessert at 2000 calories. The last time I was there, the server was friendly, but because of the layout of the dining room, they have a hard time keeping an eye on the tables. So getting a coffee refill or a request for something becomes a waiting game. Overall the food is presented very well and is tasty.
