    Pork Carnitas

If you love a savory breakfast, you NEED the Pine Street Pork Carnitas in your life! The flavor is out of this world, the service is second to none, and it's a quintessential local food joint (that by the way, now has a liquor license). Stop in for a good, home cooked meal, just across from Keenan's.

Looks like Morningstar has trouble! Our new favorite place. Great menu, VERY UNIQUE twists on favorites. Flavor, moderate prices, amazing service. EAT HERE.

This place is great every time we go! The breakfasts are always delicious and I love that they make everything from scratch and use local ingredients when possible. The new taquitos on the menu are awesome! Service is always friendly, even when it's busy on a weekend morning.

This cafe is not far from where I live most of year, so the convenience factor is one reason I will go here. It has more seating than Idle Hour, so the chances of waiting for a table are in my favor. I know they have undergone new management around Christmas and struggled a bit (see previous review), and I've been back a few more times since then, just for breakfast, never had lunch there. This place seems to have a huge staff....all up front behind the counter, but I can't quite figure out what they all do. It took IMO an unreasonable amount of time for the server to actually show up to take our order. Almost 10 minutes in a restaurant that is 30% full. Don't read this wrong, the hostess/servers were very friendly and professional, but they were not very efficient. Also noticed the price of the Country Breakfast went up yet again, 10% this time. It was raised to $9 in December, then 10, and now $11. You can get this same combination of foods at Morningstar Cafe for under $9. And the potatoes are better at Morningstar, they use red potatoes and don't charge extra for sourdough toast. Also the eggs that Pine St uses are rather small and they use a smaller sausage pattie than the previous owner did. Previously it was a precooked pattie, similar to McDonald's, now it seems it's fresh but tasted like it was old...like sitting around too long on the grill. Omelets are still $11 which is more than Morningstar Cafe. The reason I'm bring up Morningstar is because at one time they were one of the priciest places in town for breakfast! I noticed they are now opened for dinner, but I'm a little reluctant to try them. Bottom line, Pine Street will probably no longer be one of my go-to places for breakfast. But I'll still patronize from time to time. Pros: Plenty of parking Usually get a table right away Friendly staff Cons: Mediocre food Slow service One of the more expensive breakfast menus.

We even ate before we went so we wouldn't get hangry, but even from the wait of being seated to the time the kitchen finally makes your plate of food, my children were almost in tears because their tummies hurt. My daughter literally only ordered yogurt and fruit. She was the LAST one served. Please train servers to get children's food out quick (for everyone's sanity). When asked how our meal was, I finally did mention that this will be our last time patronizing this establishment. Clearly they are too busy to craft a joyful and memorable experience. It's better if we find a new spot. My previous review still stands. Go if you want a good breakfast, but be prepared to wait awhile and pay a premium for it.

For my main I ordered the POLISH PLATE ($18)  two kielbasa, three pierogies, cabbage roll and kapusta. This was excellent. The Kielbasa were tasty and just as good as dedicated Polish restaurants. The Kapusta is a Polish cabbage dish baked with onions, mushrooms, and sauerkraut. It was excellent, I don't think I've had it before, I'll definitely be having it again. I didn't think I like cabbage, at the very least, I like theirs alot. The pierogies were excellent and only needed the sour cream to be perfect. If you like Polish food, I definitely recommend this dish! The service was very friendly and efficient. Overall an easy 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely. She also whips up the custom, creative mimosa recipes, kudos to her for her awesomeness! I ordered the Shakshuka, flavorful, delicious, would order again. Even as a non-vegan, it was satisfying and would recommend to everyone. Husband had the 1964 Worlds Fair Waffle, and it was tiny. Not what you envision when you think of Belgian waffles. He also ordered the Belgian Forest Bacon, again VERY small portion, so much so that at the end of the meal, he had to order a side of the Smashed Maple Sausage. Both our drinks (I had the mimosa) were fantastic and worth ordering, loved the glassware! Aside from the small portions of waffle, bacon, and sausage, the cheerful vibes here are contagious, and I'd dine here again in a heartbeat!

There's counter seating too. The day I was there, it was just one server. She did it all. Brought beverages, took orders, and chatting with the regular customers. She seemed to play around with a computer, presumably to fill orders. It didn't seem very efficient but I image it keeps better track for inventory purposes. I didn't see it on the "specials" board, so I asked about a breakfast special and she said it was a ham & cheese omelet and included coffee. So I ordered that, it came also with toast of choice. Food came quickly, coffee cup was kept filled and the breakfast was the right portion and delicious. Now in the past I've said I didn't care for their omelets, but I've changed my mind. Perhaps they make them differently than before. Bottom line, Idle Hour is not trying to be something they're not (unlike Pine Street Cafe), so if you're looking for a quick breakfast that won't break the bank, this is the place. When I arrived the place only had two tables occupied, one customer each. I figured the snow was keeping people home that morning. I grabbed an empty booth and the server saw me asked for a drink order, brought it back promptly along with ice water and menu. I didn't really look at the menu because when you walk in they have a board displaying todays special. it was a corn beef omelet. Sounded good to me. There were two servers that day and I overhead them complaining how slow it was that morning. One of them was checking her phone constantly, they kept going in and out of the kitchen. Now I'm sitting here a good ten minutes with no server coming to take my order, while in the mean time the servers are looking out the window at the snow! I guess I could have said something but I didn't. 14 minutes later the server shows up and I say to her: "I thought you forgot about me." She replies: "actually I did." Well at least she is honest. I ordered the corn beef omelet, she asks what type of potato I'd like. I didn't realize they come with potatoes, so I tell her home-style. Food shows up about 6 minutes later, and there are no potatoes! Then I realized they put them inside the omelet instead of on the side. The corn beef was a bit dry, the omelet was not fluffy, but overall except for the lack of service, it was okay.

Rainy Day has outside dining, but it was a rather chilly morning, so everyone was eating inside. The place was crowded, but we managed to find a lone table tucked in the corner. My wife and I have mixed feelings about this review because we genuinely like this restaurant and…read morethe people who work there. We visited Rainy Days Café the weekend before the Fourth of July and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and the service was fantastic. That's exactly why we decided to come back for breakfast on the Fourth of July. We arrived around 11:05 a.m. and were seated just after a table of 12. Our waitress, who was incredibly sweet and kind throughout the entire experience, told us she was able to get our order into the kitchen before the large party. Shortly afterward, a table of seven and then a table of six were seated outside after us. A while later, the owner personally came to our table to apologize and explained that our ticket had been lost and our breakfast had never been made. We really appreciated her honesty and the fact that she came out herself to explain what happened. At that point, we weren't upset because we understand mistakes happen, especially in a busy, family-owned restaurant on the Fourth of July. While we continued waiting, our waitress refilled our coffee, and we asked if we could have a cinnamon roll while waiting for our breakfast. It wasn't meant to replace our meal--just something to hold us over since we'd already been waiting quite a while. The owner later returned and very graciously told us our breakfast would be complimentary because we had been waiting nearly two hours. We appreciated that gesture. Unfortunately, the wait continued. During that time, the table of seven and the table of six--both seated after us--received and finished their meals while we still had nothing. With about 15 minutes left before closing, we finally went inside and asked if they could simply make our breakfast to go. That's when everyone realized there had been another misunderstanding. Our waitress had thought that when we asked for the cinnamon roll, we had decided that was all we wanted, so our breakfast order had been canceled--even though it had never actually been made in the first place. I truly believe this was an honest miscommunication, not a lack of caring. Our waitress remained kind and attentive the entire time, and the owner did everything she could once she realized the original mistake. Unfortunately, a series of communication breakdowns resulted in us sitting in the restaurant for over two hours, watching at least 30 people who arrived after us receive their meals, before ultimately leaving hungry and having to find another place to eat. This was incredibly disappointing because we know how good this restaurant can be. We will likely give Rainy Days Café another chance because our previous visit was so positive, and I genuinely believe this was an unfortunate chain of mistakes rather than a reflection of the people who work there. I hope they can use this experience to improve communication between the front of the businesss and the kitchen because the food is worth coming back for, and the staff clearly cares about their customers.
