I was in search of a new optometrist and my co-worker recommended I try dr. Van-winkle. I called and they were able to schedule me right away. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and was helped right away, no waiting! It was great. Staff was very friendly. Dr.van-winkle was great. We talked about my eyes, contacts, glasses etc. and she was helpful in answering all of my questions and helping navigate my insurance. I am writing this review for any older patients who may be considering going here. I have been in twice. the first time was very rushed as she had some kind of unexpected problem. Dr. called me after my less than wonderful review. So I gave it another shot and went back this year. This time my problem was my eyes were not dilated and she never physically looked into my eyes. Now my Dr. is sending me to an opthamologist to have that done. I want older patients with diabetes to know this is a cute office, nice people, for younger people. If you need a thorough exam and have definite problems this not the right office. read more

We've used Dr Trang for a couple of years. We're very happy. Both she and her staff are caring and capable. As an independent you may think that their prices might be higher than the chains, but I've used the mall stores (can't remember the name), Site for Sore Eyes, and WalMart, and I typically end up paying 300-400 even with my insurance. I don't see much difference here with Dr Trang. They handle my insurance so i don't have to submit anything. read more

Got me in right on schedule and even though I was out within an hour, she was super thorough and funny and it was just a great appointment. Viewpoint was clean and comfortable, and everyone there was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I would have liked more frames to select from, and the new equipment which photographs the back of your eyes was not covered in my insurance, but otherwise, this is a very pleasant optometry clinic to visit and I would recommend it to anyone. read more

Came here for the first time last weekend. The doctor spent over 30 minutes with and explained everything to me that was going on. She even gave me a 20% discount on the lenses that my insurance would not cover! Also the lady that helped me choose my glasses, was very knowledgable and great! I've been going to Viewpoint Optometry for over 5 years and have always been pleased with their exceptional service and a knowledgeable and friendly staff. I moved to San Francisco, but my family still resides in Roseville and as oppose to finding an optometrist in SF I rather plan my appointments around visits home so I can keep Dr. Van Winkle as my optometrist. I order my contacts frequently at Viewpoint and they always mail them within a timely manner. I had such an enjoyable experience at Viewpoint Optometry. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is the first time I have needed glasses, so I really needed help picking out frames that looked good and fit my face. Mandy was amazing! She stayed with me through the whole process of me trying on at least 20 different pairs of glasses! She helped me pick out glasses based off of my face shape and what I really appreciated was how honest she was. Another thing that I really enjoyed was that she never made me feel rushed picking out a pair of glasses, she wanted me to feel confident about my choice. After I chose the glasses I wanted, she thoroughly went through all the pricing and additional options available to add on to my glasses so that I understood what I was being charged and why. I had an excellent visit with Dr. Van Winkle. We talked about the fact that I was also under the care of Shawn Palmer, MD, who wanted me to return to his office in May to ensure that I did not have the onset of glaucoma. Dr. Van Winkle requested that his findings be faxed to her for review. I mentioned that my dry eye was much improved due to taking 4 fish oil capsules each day, and Dr. Van Winkle and I also had time to share information about where she takes her children & where I take my grandchildren for fun. My 7 yr. old son had failed his vision test at school and I got a letter asking to get his vision checked. I took my son here and was told my son has very bad blurred vision, pretty much he's blind. When I was told this, I found it upsetting because I know there is nothing wrong with his vision. I was scared and wondered why I never saw this to be an issue. I came home and told my husband what I was told and my husband told me it was bull**** and to talk to his pediatrician. I booked an appt with our pediatrician and when they did his eye exam he didn't have 20/20 vision but wasn't blind and I was told its normal for kids his age not get 20/20. When my son started second grade, again he failed his vision test and again I took him to a pediatrician (different one) closer to home and again he did fine and doctor said there was nothing wrong with his vision. Couple of weeks ago school nurse called me and asked if I had his vision checked because he failed it again. I told her yes and by two different pediatrician and both found nothing wrong with his vision. I didn't share with the nurse what Viewpoint optometry had told me. So she said she'd test him again in a week or so and will let me know how things went. Today 12/16/16 she called and told me my son's vision is FINE!!! he doesn't need glasses and does not have blurred visions. She shared with me how she did different test with him and found it wasn't him it was the way he was being tested that was an issue. So if you've been told by these optometrists that your child has bad vision and you feel that their wrong, I'd highly suggest 2nd opinion. I am so glad I didn't listen to her and made my son start wearing glasses.... read more

It's refreshing to get quality service in this world of quantity over quality. I usually only review restaurants but felt compelled to share my experience here. First of all, the staff are all sweet and professional. I got to fill out my paperwork online beforehand which was cool since I type about ten times faster than I write. I was greeted by name when I walked in although I had just been in for 1 minute previously to make my appointment. I was also immediately offered a cookie. Score! The equipment seemed new and while I waited for the doctor I watched a video on eye stuff. The very pregnant and very cheery doctor (Dr. Van Winkle) came in and listened to me complain about my glasses for about 10 minutes. She was patient and never checked her watch once and even made me laugh. The exam was thorough and she even had me physically type on her laptop so we could measure my computer distance. When we were done she brought me to the front and even though there was another person waiting she picked a couple of frames for me that were completely paid for by insurance. She said she wanted to make sure I knew they had some and it would be the other girls' job to just go by what they thought would look best on me. This resonated with me because it felt .....honest and genuine. Then to top it off the girl that helped me narrowed it down to three frames. One was pretty expensive, one a little over insurance and and one paid for by insurance. I was sure she'd push the expensive pair but her exact words were , "they all look good on you. It's a tough decision but my favorite is the tortoise one." She had picked the cheapest one. The doc then came out from the exam room and asked what I decided on. I told her it was down to the 3. She asked if she could see them on me and then told me her favorites were the 2 cheaper ones. I now joked that they weren't salesy. The doc laughed and said their goal was to get me glasses that i love that I would get compliments on....not to sell me the most expensive frame. Then she added that when I got comments to send the people there. I ended up with the middle pair and they achieved their goal. I get compliments daily on my glasses and I love them. And of course I send them there ......and now I'm writing a yelp review. Tell the ladies OC sent you . Best glasses experience ever. read more

I recently had an eye exam here. It is in an easy to find location. As soon as you walk in you will be greeted by the staff. The Optometrist was in the exam room with another patient, but the secretary and Jarina, who helped with my exam, took care of me right away. The Optometrist was very friendly. I had a deteriorating eye condition, which was new to me, but she calmed me down and gave me a very clear plan for what I had to do to handle it. I've never had to wear glasses, just readers, in my life, but the Optometrist and staff made me comfortable and helped me in finding the right pair for me. I recommend this office for all of your eye needs! read more

This place has the best customer service I have ever experienced. I have a very busy work schedule in the summer time and i was having trouble getting in to see a eye doctor. I asked if they could help in anyway and they did! the doctor came in on her day off in the middle of the day ( to accommodate my schedule ) with her child. I was so grateful she was a pleasure to meet. so we do my check up then comes the fun part, time to pick some frames.... well I let them know i was very picky. And of course none of the frames they had suited me. I am stuck on a pair of Morel frame that i bought about 4 years ago, I tell them i will pay any thing to get the exact pair I have on now. the doctor tells me she doesn't have a account with that company but she might have a way. So i give her a few days and see works a miracle she gets me the exact pair i had in the same color to top it off they were not being made any more and the price was more than fair. Based on the great reviews here, I recently bought a new pair of reading glasses at Viewpoint. Also had my eyes tested/examined by Dr. Van Winkle for a new prescription. The whole experience was superior to other places I've used over the past 20 years. Claire was absolutely wonderful in helping me quickly find frames that were actually flattering that I love. (That hasn't always been the case at other places I've used!) And I also learned some things I never knew about my vision and my eye health before from Dr. Van Winkle. The only negative I can see is that prescription glasses are so danged expensive any more but I can't blame Viewpoint for an industry's pricing. After all, they do have lots of expensive equipment there that they've purchased and Dr. Van Winkle's education, knowledge and experience and the health of my eyesite is worth it. They use high pressure to get you to buy things you do not want: coatings or extra pairs. They don't accept a 'no' answer for the first several times you say it. They have a small selection. And they are expensive. read more
