Foothills Optometry has been under the Granite Pointe Eye Care management since December 2025 but has been operating with the same name with a smaller afterword as seen in the photo but not published online yet. Dr Francis Leung has been my optometrist for years now and she's here only on Mondays. That's why I'm here at this location for my annual eye exam. It works perfectly well for me as it's closer to home. It's smaller and less busier office with not a lot eyewear options (they didn't have Oakleys) than the main office at Sierra College Boulevard. Same quality of care as the main location. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Dr Leung was very informative as usual. I wasn't offered a beverage here but that's just me nitpicking. read more

VERY GREAT EXPERIENCE! Highly recommend! Dr. Louie was great! He is so thorough, and is so patient. There was absolutely no feeling of being rushed and he listened and answered to all questions before finishing the appointment. I love that for $30 more, they have retinal imagining instead of dilating your eyes and having the scary thing touch your eye (freaks me out). His pricing is very fair without insurance. $120 for your standard evaluations. In addition, Dr. Louie's place has advanced machines to test everything! Never have I been tested like that at Kaiser. Kaiser charges you almost $200 and doesn't fully check everything, and rushes you in a 10 min time span. If you were to have a condition, he'd definitely catch it. I believe he truly loves to help people and he is good at what he does. read more

I would love to give this office a 5 but the receptionist Debbie is rude. I had SPECIFICALLY asked for an appointment for end of school day or early. I was told the 8:30 appt - first appointment of day would be best. We had to wait a few weeks to get but I understood. But the early appointment would have us in and out. We arrived on time, filled out a bunch of paperwork and sat there for 30 minutes with no explanation. I had to get up and ask why we were waiting. Apparently the assistants were running late? She never told us nor bothered to say sorry or offer that if we couldn't wait... the only time she acted polite was when I explained that she was being rude by not communicating with us effectively. We didn't get seen until 9:10 and our appt was at 8:30. We were first appt and people after us got seen before us. This is not the same receptionist we had when my husband and I came before. Peoples time is valuable and communicating goes a long way. I love Audrey the gal who fits the glasses. The assistants were nice and pleasant. Dr Louie is very pleasant. My first review was over 2 years ago. The receptionist and office manager is the rudest person. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. With the whole Covid it's a weird world but no reason not to be pleasant. The best part was watching how she would switch to being pleasant to some people and not others. She was the rudest to me. We won't be back! They have lost all our business and will make sure to tell everyone I know. It's a shame because the doctors are super nice and friendly. But poor management can break you. But they won't fire her because she is family - sad she will ruin your business. read more

They call to book my appointment and I take a day off work only to walk in the door and be told I have to wear a mask!! I said no I don't and they refused to see me!! If you're stupid enough to still enforce this nonsense you certainly are NOT competent to give ANY kind of medical advice. It's absolutely ridiculous. I've been with this optometrist for years. The doctors are not the problem. The front end staff needs to be completely retrained and likely replaced. I have had so many issues with them. They couldn't get my contacts in. Fine I get it but why should I have to call a month after they should be in to find out they never even placed the order!!? They are just really unprofessional. While I was there after getting my contacts 2 months later I hear them on the phone with a client telling them the same situation. As a customer you don't want to know others are also experiencing this. It just validated why you don't want to come back. Debbie, you need to go somewhere else. Dr. Mei Huang was AMAZING! One of the best experiences I've had with an eye doctor. Love all the staff, they are very helpful. They are nice and are acknowledge their customers whether or not you have an appointment. They also have nice frames and different brands too. I have been coming to Dr. Louies office for much years now, he is very professional and is a doctor for the people, who is very humble and not out for your money. When entering my recent visit, I was greeted by a new young staff member who stood out and was more than kind to me. I do not speak English very well and the young girl who tested me before entering the doctor room spoke Spanish, which was very comforting. I felt very safe there and I will be recommending this office to all my Spanish speaking family and friends. The office staff was very rude and not helpful at all. I had a question about prescription since my new glasses seems off. I went Friday awhile ago but they closed so I decided to go another day. All they told me "oh welll, should've come sonner" And this and that....Well I am sorry. They eventually told me to just wear it for few days. But it's just the way they look and responded. They made me feel uncomfortable and was like guilt-tripping me. Probably I will never come back. This was not the first time they were disrespectful. Dr. Louie is absolutely amazing! We took our three girls here to get an eye exam and new glasses. It was obvious that he is passionate about his profession and puts his patients first. He gave each of my girls his undevided attention, even stopping to help them decide on the perfect frames. He is clearly very knowledgeable and charitable. He volunteers all over the world, doing his part to bring the gift of vision to those in need. He was able to inform us about all the latest research in vision correction and care, which told me he clearly has a thirst for knowledge and a passion to provide the best service possible. I have been going here for years and it used to be wonderful. I am not sure what has happened with the new staff turnover. I had an appointment at 12 pm. The assistant sees me around 12:15 to do her thing and then I wait and wait and wait. Just barely left and hour past my last contact with a staff member. I sat on my 3 year old glasses. There was nothing I could do to fix them. I pulled out my phone and yelped Roseville optometrists. I choose Foothills because of the location and reviews. I predicted that there would be a long wait for appointment and I would be uncomfortable with the new surroundings (my optometrist for the last 30 years was over an hour drive away). Boy, was I wrong. I called. After giving my sad story and insurance info, I was told I was eligible for an exam AND that there was an appointment available that afternoon. On arrival I was prompted greeted and handed the paperwork. Shortly afterward I was given computerized tests. I also gave my broken glasses to the technician, who said she would try to repair them. The optometrist then greeted me, took my history, listened to my concerns about floaters and increasing astigmatism. Within an hour I received a thorough exam and had an order for updated glasses. AND the repair tech was able to give my old glasses new life...at no added charge. Thank you yelp, and Foothill staff for friendly, fast, and professional service. read more

I've been going to Dr. Louie for years and he has been great. Dr. Louie is not only a pleasant person, easy to talk to, but his knowledge and experience in eyes are also excellent. I really like to be able to visit Dr. Louie again, but it's been sad to see that things have gone way down hill at his office. It's not him, but rather his staff and condition of his office. The pre-screen room (the room where you go to have things done like measuring the distance between eyes, retina photos, peripheral vision test etc.) is just horrible. It is dirty and smelly. A few times, the assistant did not even wipe the surfaces on the items that she was going to use on me or allow my skin to touch it. For example, the eye blinder, the chin support and the binocular-like device. These things should always be wiped with alcohol in a patient's presence before allowing him/her to use it. Also, the smell in this room. It is just horrible. It's a tiny room and the stinky smell just got strapped in there. I think it's body odors, bad breath or both from other patients or from the assistant staff themselves. Anyway, I would like to come back to Dr. Louie, but things have to change there before I do. I hope that this review can serve as an opportunity for Dr. Louie to take an overall assessment of his practice and make positive changes. He has a very nice practice and a good customer/patient base. It's ashame to see that is going away simply because of staff and office condition. read more

Dr. Louie is absolutely THE BEST! My little girl had foot surgery and while in recovery scratched her cornea with her IV tape... Her eye pain was excruciating and the hospital discharged her with orders to go straight home to ice & elevate her foot. I called Dr. Louie & explained the situation and his response was, "No worries, I will come over to your home." Wow, we always knew he was a fabulous optometrist but this was truly above and beyond!! Dr Louie is a really good doctor and very personable. I highly recommend him, either through his private practice or on-staff at Kaiser. However, the office staff is unhelpful, inept and rude. They tried to charge me $20 for shipping my husband's glasses to their office. I've been ordering glasses from them for over 10 yrs and never had to pay shipping. (The manufacturer's website has free shipping.) They did, eventually, credit me the $20 after several phone calls and in-person visits. Also, I had dual insurance coverage and ordered a new pair of glasses (frames and lenses) and replacement lenses for an existing frame which I purchased from them a few years earlier. They flat out refused to coordinate the coverage between the two insurance companies and made me file a claim with one of my insurance companies to get reimbursed. Unfortunately, the insurance company considers it 'out of network' if a paper claim is filed even though the doctor is 'in network'. So it ended up costing me more money than it should have. I set up a three-way conference call with the office staff and the insurance rep. The insurance rep told them how to submit the claim and what the benefit would be. They still wouldn't do it. The excuse from the doctor's office... ' we just don't do coordination of benefits'. I hope Dr. Louie is aware his office staff is costing him business. read more
