My whole family went to this place for years. Service truly is hit & miss. The real problem is that the dr doesn't listen & the support staff just isn't knowledgeable. Every year I'd go & tell the dr I literally can't see. He'd give me the same Rx & tell me it was just my age.. pick out a frame (no guidance) blah, blah, blah. After another year of this, I didn't order glasses after my exam, I paid out of pocket for an exam with a new optometrist--and OMG I CAN SEE!! I brought all my glasses to my 2nd opinion appt & every pair was not only the wrong Rx but ill fitting--they were able to show me exactly why, so I could make informed choices going forward--amazing! They were able to explain to me how to pick a frame that FITS MY FACE & provides the best field of vision. They explained so many lense choices too! I learned more in that one appointment--wow--because my new Dr listened to me, her support staff is knowledgeable & willing to take the time to actually help me pick out lenses & frames that work well for my needs! I literally cried when I got the first pair of well fitting, correct Rx glasses in YEARS!! I would not recommend Union Vision Services. Go somewhere with professionals that listen to their patients & help them make INFORMED decisions. read more

Prefacing this with: It was incredibly hard to locate the room this optometry is located in. I was expecting an actual storefront-like center. For newcomers know that you have to enter the union building, get to the second floor, walk left, and search for the name of this center. The no soliciting sign made me think this was a private center, but no, it is not. Once I was in through, it was like your everyday optometry experience. Sign in, give them your information look around. I only came in to buy sunglasses so I did not have to make an appointment; as already had a prescription on hand. Easy as, sending her my prescription, looking for glasses, picking them, & paying for them. My insurance was easily accessible through there so that was easy. I was sent here through my insurance. The lady who helped me was SUPER sweet, genuine, and kind. So surprising to see a human being help me and not a monotone robotic representative. Overall, good experience :) read more

I'm very happy with Dr. Hoekstra and his staff. They are friendly and helpful. They helped adjust my glasses cause they were crooked, and ordered my contact lens through insurance as medically necessary. Eye issues run in my family, so it's important to me to have a great care team. And they have the best team here! They are not only straightforward and knowledgeable but are also genuinely kind and helpful. I have been going here for over 5 years. They are efficient with regular check ups. Whenever I've had issues they've always gone above and beyond. For example, I ran out of contacts before my brother's wedding and new ones weren't going to arrive in time, but they gave a trial pack. Never ever come here! I went in for the first time only for an adjustment. It was visible the they were slanted on the right side and the manager there could not even find where they were broken. It took me 3 times to show him then. He hands me my glasses says "I cleaned them so u might've thought this was dirt" I said Nooo I wear these daily I only came for an adjustment now you are saying I have a scratch that was never there. He said well not my responsibility not my glasses not my responsibility. I told him on top of that they aren't even clean, you call this clean. I also told him u would've mentioned the scratch in the beginning but it was NOT THERE. Basically stating he will not do anything and thats that. I really liked my doctor. He knew what was wrong with my eyes as soon as he got the results from the assistant who blows the air in your eyes. I was impressed. He knew what I needed before he even asked me what I wanted. He also has a good assortment of eyeglasses in his office in different price ranges. I actually had to buy 2 pair of glasses, one for my computer and one for distance and bifocals. And my total out the door was $381. Which was very good for two separate lenses and frames. read more

I made an appointment to pick up my glasses, they wanted to mail them to me but I like to try them on before I pay for them. Because of Covid you have to call them to let you in at the door,they older man who works their came to the door he was very unfriendly he told me right away the sit down , he said iwas wrong chair , so I sat in the chair he told to sit in he was very rude , he told me to put mask on , it was on then again he goes put it on all the way. I will not be going there again, very bad customer service plus they have a poor selection of glasses read more

Really like the personable service here. I've been coming here for a long time and now my kids are coming. I like that Mikey the office assistant has been a long time employee knows me by name even though I only go there one time a year. Dr. Hoekstra is also a great optometrist because he speaks to you as an old friend and not as a patient. I know he gets most of his patients through the UFCW, but he also takes other insurance also. With all the eye centers in the area I feel they really have to compete for your business. Looking into all the nearby offices trying to make a decision, I decided to give Union Vision a call. The booking lady was so rude to me on the phone I decided "No thank you." After all if that is the service you get on the phone I can't imagine what I would be treated like in person. read more
