I went here last Friday with my parents in the mid afternoon. The hostess was accommodating of where we wanted to sit (outside but not in the sun) and friendly. Our server was great as well- he clearly enjoyed his job and being hospitable- he had knowledge of the menu and drinks and was able to read that my parents and I wanted to take our time to catch up. The food was very tasty (stuffed clams, burrata, shrimp cocktail, poke taco, mahi tacos and a steak sandwich) all were great. Also a really nice Arnold Palmer. Their beer selection was nice and we really had a great experience. I can't wait to come back with some friends and more family to enjoy a nice lunch on my day off. 10/10 would recommend (and I'm a restaurant manager). read more

Last night was my Retirement Cocktail Party at the View in Oakdale. Everything about this party was beautiful. My colleagues, family and friends raved about the food especially the Coconut Shrimp, Tuna and Lobster Roll appetizers. Once again, a great dining experience. Friend visiting from the UK and thought it be a good day to have a change of scenery from NYC so made the drive to View and as always a great time. We had three in our party and had duck tacos and tuna tacos to start: both were on point. For entrees we had the tuna over forbidden black rice (what makes it forbidden?) and lobster roll w a side order of Brussels sprouts. We had a private event at the View on June 10th and it could not have been better. The setting is beautiful, and the outdoor space for our cocktail hour was elegant but comfortable. After getting on here and reading the other reviews that are two stars it seriously seems they are extremely spot on with the place. It seems that both the HEAD CHEF AND MANAGER are an extremely mixed bag depending on they day you come in to order. It seems the CHEF whom ever is on shift currently today of this post at 1:00 pm is only making food to get a pay check with no regard, because it shows extremely well in the poor quality food he permitted to leave the kitchen. For starters my wife had the grilled cheese which is burnt with hardly any cheese inside.... she also ordered filet mignon entree with mashed potatoes that tasted like they where made from instant potato mixed the steak itself was ordered well done and tasted like London broil or more closely to roasted beef. I tried the food myself because I had to know if this was true and to my surprise she was exactly right!!!!!! All the lobster in my lobster dishes tasted frozen and reheated, very terrible in comparison to restaurants like Voodoo crab, or even the lobster roll from friendlys a few years back and Village idiot pub who currently has a chef that truly cares and cooks a fillet mignon at any temperature that is to die for, and is way less costly. mind you their 5 1/2 inch hardly filled, and very dry lobster roll comes in at a putrid $28 price point I'm honestly not sure how this place is still in business. Please I beg everyone do not make the mistake we have, and please do not give this place any more money it is extremely over priced. it's apparent the chef and manager have both checked out on quality control for food or even self respect in their jobs please adhere to the bad reviews because they speak the truth wholeheartedly about everything going on at this place. I truly wish to have every red cent I spent here returned to my wallet, and we hope every staff member reads this post in the restaurant so they understand they need to WAKE UP AND STOP ROBBING THE PUBLIC!!!!!!! Lobster pasta was also extremely dry with hardly any of the cognac cream overall I have never had a worse experience at an establishment ever... I'm sad to see bad reviews as I do sorta understand where they are coming from but I've always had great day drinking and meals out on the beautiful deck. Have the duck wonton tacos for sure, and try out a few interesting sushi rolls if available at the time you go. This place was so pleasant. From the moment we were greeted we were treated with kindness and the person that greeted us was named Jimmy. He was so pleasant and friendly. My daughter took me here for dinner for Father's Day and it was so nice. The food was great! The scenery was beautiful. We were taking pictures overlooking the bay and Jimmy offered to take our pictures for us. He took such pride in trying to make this experience memorable for us. He introduced us to his wife Lori who was an angel also. The staff was on point and the food was exceptional I would definitely come back again! I've been to this restaurant quite a few times and each time was just so perfect! I love the water views and the beautiful dock. The inside of the restaurant is also beautiful and the service is excellent! I went to lunch with friends and even though the restaurant was crowded, we never had to wait long for our drinks or our food because our waitress Danielle was awesome! As for the drinks, whoever the bartender is, they really know how to make a perfect drink! I tried an old fashion and not only did it look exactly like the picture, it was so incredibly delicious I could have kept drinking them all day...but it was lunch, so I controlled myself :-) For the food, we all shared the Thai Calamari which was not only amazing but more than enough for the three of us! There was enough to take home to my husband who loved it so much he wanted me to go back and get him more! I had the Kale Salad and added shrimp to it and it was also amazing. We all shared a dessert that I highly recommend...it was the Nutella-Peanut Butter Ice Box. If you like peanut butter and Nutella you have to order this! The one thing I was curious about was while we were eating this really nice man came over to ask if we were enjoying our food. He didn't say who he was, but if he was the manager or owner we would have liked to tell him how awesome his restaurant is and how wonderful his staff was to us. Very nice view and equally great service. My aunt and I went here for a lunch and had a very nice time. The restaurant is located right on the water with enty of parking. Inside you have panoramic views of the water. The restaurant is elegant and beautifully decorated. Looks like you can bring your family if your children are well behaved but im not sure about bringing an unruly toddler to this place as it is very nice with a calm quite atmosphere. The food prices were moderately priced and so were the drinks but you get high quality. We had the clam chowder, tuna tartar and the shrimp cocktail. Everything was good and fresh quality. Went to this beautiful waterside restaurant for a birthday Sunday brunch. In addition to a wonderful view of the great South Bay the wind and blowing snow made for a very interesting treat. The buffet brunch was extensive, many delicious selections from eggs Benedict, seafood, pastas, french toast, salads and many other choices too numerous to list. Pastries galore to satisfy any sweet tooth. Memosas cocktails and great coffee to top off a memorable day. Oh the valet parking service was so busy and delivered my car in a couple of minutes. I wanted to rate my anniversary dinner with my husband. I very much liked the ambiance of the restaurant. We sat in an enclosed area that had windows with views of the water. It was so relaxing and romantic for our anniversary. All of the food we ordered was delicious and fresh. The waitress was very attentive and answered questions we had about recommendations. They sat us at the most beautiful round table in a round nook of windows overlooking the bay on a sunny day. The wait staff was very nice and didn't rush us through the meal. BRUNCH REVIEW- previous to Brunch I've been to View during Restaurant Week for dinner and was very impressed. Sadly Brunch didn't live up to the hype. $36pp for bland under seasoned food, lines almost out the front door & unlimited weak mimosas didn't cut it for me. Valet is always annoying especially since a huge crowd arrived at the same time Our server was extremely nice and I do feel that she came around for mimosa and drink refills often which was great. Plates were also cleared from the table almost instantly. The Food was the ultimate disappointment!! Not only did I have to wait MINUTES on a terribly long line and have people from various parties cut the line making the waiting experience so much worse but when I finally was able to get food it was so BLAND, Under seasoned & Disappointing. It's brunch and they don't serve french toast?!? Why was every food so hard to cut?!? Also heard MANY people complain that food wasn't being replenished quick enough. I will be listing off the foods I tried while I was there, and no I didn't even bother waiting on the ridiculous line for an omelette so I can't review it but my friend got it and said it was disappointing and gross. Bagel with Lox: Bagels are cut in half but weren't cut down the middle so having to rip the bagel open like a caveman or cut through it with the dull butter knife on the table was less than desirable. Cream cheese was never restocked. The lox were tasty but were lox worth the price tag...I think not. Antipasto Salad: Basically deli antipasto. Boring and again not worth the price tag. Also mozzarella salad was being offered which didn't look like anything special. Eggs Benedict: Utterly Disgusting. Hands down the worst eggs benedict I've ever had & the english muffin was soooo hard to cut! Penne alla Vodka: Sooo dry! Beef Short Rib: I did enjoy the short rib but it didn't blow me away. Chicken Cordon Blue: The chicken was squishy, the gravy tasted like nothing...literally nothing, and the ham was cut way too thick. Standard breakfast sausage, standard pancakes, standard bacon...nothing special, nothing to write home about Carving Station: had extremely tough meat & turkey. The meat was extremely rare and hard to cut. Also tasted not a thing on the meat...no marinade or salt, blah. Sushi: OKAY THIS WAS THE MOST DISAPPOINTING THING ABOUT BRUNCH! This sushi is a poor excuse for food period! The rolls were tiny tiny, they barely put any out and they were stuffed with garbage! This restaurant should quit with the sushi. Peel & Eat Shrimp: standard, could get messy trying to eat them. Crab Legs: only a handful of legs were put out at one time, took minutes for them to restock. Desserts were unimpressive. Huge store bought cakes that were overly sweet and store bought pastries... boo View Brunch was less than desirable! I had that most fabulous bridal shower here during Sunday brunch. The staff was outrageously attentive, the view was breath taking and the food was nothing short of divine. People are still raving. We had the bar area which easily fit 40 people. I had an amazing time and I highly recommend this spot for brunch. We have also been here for dinner which is also amazing. Though on Friday's they have a paid parking valet. They claim if you eat you'll get the ten dollars back. We didn't but also didn't make a deal out of it when he took our signed ticket.
