One star only because it will not allow me to post without one.
I was told that I could arrive to the venue two hours before my party was scheduled to set up and that someone would meet me to open the door so that I could get in. Since I drove straight from work, I arrived an hour early and just waited in my car, however once 2 came, no one arrived. I walked over to the door and saw that it was unlocked and let myself in. After unloading everything from my car, I did a walk of the space. Even though I gave a seating chart, the number of chairs did not match what I told them so I had to move the chairs to the storage room. This was annoying because I had to pay a fee of $50 to set up when I was left setting up myself. I then went to the kitchen to find a puddle of water coming from the ice machine which I had to clean up. Next, I had to sweep the front steps because there were tree fallings all over (it was obviously not swept in a while) and they kept getting stuck to people's shoes and tracking into the hall. This was a nuisance because I had to make sure the floors were swept in order to get my deposit back. After this, I decided that I better check the bathrooms as well. The first stall in the women's bathroom was overfilling and it had a water trail that left the bathroom and entered into the hallway. I called the number for the office and was met with a message that told me it was after hours and was prompted to click a number for an emergency. To this I was greeted with a voicemail, so I left a message. Now it was 3pm and my party was scheduled for 4pm. Instead of being able to focus on my decorations, I had to clean up the bathroom (with no mop available) as well as tinker with the toilet myself. We somehow got the water to stop rising but now we were down one stall. After this, guests arrived and I hosted my party until my scheduled time. We used the coffee machine but it brewed cold coffee. When I booked the hall I was told that I had 30 minutes after to clean up and that someone would once again meet me at 8:30pm to lock up the building. I waited and no one arrived so I called, since it was the only way to contact anyone, and was met with a message once again. On Monday, no one called to follow up with me so I called myself only to be told to wait for a call back.
I received a call back a few hours later and explained the situation to a man named Josh. He apologized and offered me my $50 set up fee back which seemed like common sense as there was no set up. I told him that I would be there on Thursday to pick up my deposit. When I got there, I asked him if I would be compensated for the inconvenience as well as cleaning their plumbing. He called in who I assume is in charge, she did not introduce herself, and she apparently did not hear of my situation until I told her that moment. Another strike, how could the manager not be informed of such a catastrophe occurring in their own business. She seemed to dismiss me although I remained polite and she asked if I left my name and number in the message because the emergency number apparently does not have caller ID. I said that I left my name but not my number and I found that information irrelevant since I was calling due to an emergency in their only location which is about a 10 minute drive from their office and I was the only party booked that day with my number on file. She told me that she would have to check the messages I left to see what happened and that she would call me to update. This was another strike for me, Josh knew about my incident since Monday when I called and told him, as well as the fact that I told him that I would be coming on Thursday, but he failed to relay the message to the woman in charge. Had this information been passed to her, she could have already looked into my case. Seeing that Islip is not close to where I live, I asked when I could expect a call and she told me Wednesday, almost a week later to look up messages. It has been two weeks now and I have not received any phone call from them. Clearly they do not care about their customers or the fact that I had to clean up their mess.
I would not recommend this place because it is impossible to contact anyone, even with an emergency extension. One of my guests told me that her friend had a party there as well and had the same issue with the toilet and because her party was also on a Saturday, there was no one for her to contact. They should not have Saturdays available if there is no one that can be on site in case an incident like this happens. read more
