I originally got in touch with Kim the catering manager at the time and set up a date to tour the venue. The golf course that the venue is situated in served as a lush backdrop. There were two ceremony sites to choose from, both of which were outdoors (one tented), which made me feel at ease just in case it would rain. We also had two cocktail hour locations to choose from (2 beautiful indoor spaces). The main reception ballroom was grand, but not overly pretentious. We adored the rustic, yet elegant vibe of the venue and were convinced to book after hearing about the package, which included a variety of vendors (we only ended up using the florist and bakery). Over the course of our year long engagement we had to make changes To several things (guest count, menu selections, room selections, vendor selections), but the staff were always accommodating. At some point, there was a staff change and our new point of person became Mandi, who was super sweet and made sure everything I requested would be taken care of. On the actual wedding day: we were allowed to come as early as 11am to setup and use the bridal suite. Joe (maitre d') was the calm in the storm! He got us through the rehearsal for both our ceremony and entrance in just one go. We're so thankful that he was there. He made sure we had more than enough food to eat, the flow of events was smooth, and so much more. Pat (bridal attendant) was also amazing, she was keeping my anxiety in check and also ensured we had everything we needed. We were SO busy the entire day that I didn't have sufficient time to make sure everything was in place, but the moment that Pat led us into the reception hall, I was in awe. Everything was set up perfectly! Joe and Pat even incorporated some of ceremony and cocktail hour decorations to make things come together even further. By the end of the night, they had packed up extra food or us and gathered all of the florals as well. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough space to take everything with us. My only other regret is that I didn't take a step back to fully enjoy everything. I highly recommend Smithtown Landing and cannot thank the staff enough.

The wedding was in one building while the dinner that followed was in another. Both of the spaces were clean and well lit. And we were surprised that the food for dinner was really quite good. Not your average wedding fare. Parking was either valet or self park so that was a snap on a Thursday night around 4:30. The grounds seemed very well maintained and the golf course surrounding the main buildings looked to be very well manicured. We had a great night and would definitely return.

MY EXPERIENCE AS THE BRIDE AND THE PERSON WHO HIRED THE SERVICE…read moreI was the bride, the person who directly hired this company's services and personally coordinated every detail of my wedding with their team, from the planning stage through to the day of the event. I wish to publicly express my complete dissatisfaction with the terrible service I received. The venue is beautiful, but unfortunately, a pretty setting does not make up for service that was poor, disorganized, and fell far short of both, the paid price and what promises were made at the time of booking. Furthermore, communication with your team was terrible. Among the three people responding to us, none seemed to have a clear understanding of what had been discussed, sent, or agreed upon. Information was not handled in a coordinated manner, and a lack of professionalism was evident throughout the entire process. It is also incredible that a tip was suggested; there seems to be a great deal of interest in charging for extras, but very little interest in actually working to earn them. Here are specific facts regarding our experience: * The coffee was terrible. * The coffee was brought to the table, but the sugar didn't arrive until about half an hour later. * The wine glasses provided were dirty. * The cake was NOT tres leches, despite that being what we ordered. * The restroom was out of toilet paper. * The champagne was NOT what had been agreed upon, and the amount served was extremely limited. * At no point were we asked if we wanted to take the leftovers home; you simply kept them or disposed of them without asking or offering any explanation or justification. * The room was dirty when our family arrived to set up decorations. * A table was set up right in the middle of the lobby. * We repeatedly asked for the fountains to be turned off and had to insist several times; you failed to act in time, and the umbrellas eventually tipped over. While all this was happening, it was in very poor taste to see the manager carrying plates of food for your own staff. And there is something even more unpleasant: at first, there was nothing but kindness, attentiveness, and willingness to help. But once you realized there would be no more "extras" coming from me, that kindness practically vanished. So, my question is very simple: doesn't your staff receive a salary to treat customers well and provide good service from start to finish? Does friendliness depend on how much extra money they can get from the customer? Because if they are expecting a tip, they should first provide service that truly merits one. We invested a significant amount of money and placed our trust in you for an extremely special event. The very least we expected was cleanliness, organization, adherence to what was agreed upon, attentiveness to our guests, and professionalism. Not even those basic standards were met. The experience regarding both the service and the management was abysmal and deeply disappointing. One of the clearest examples of this lack of coordination was the event timeline. It had been prepared, sent, and communicated well in advance so that Majestic Gardens could properly coordinate every stage of the wedding. However, our requests and updates regarding that timeline were not properly followed up on. This lack of attention to the timeline became apparent on the day of the event.

It was a-full array of delicious entrées, from hot chafing dishes of Chicken Fricassee, Cod, Pasta, fresh sautéed veggies to name a few. Additionally, there was a carving station with fresh turkey and beef of some sort with cranberry relish. On the cold side, I really enjoyed the smoked salmon, bagels as well as an assortment of cold Anti-pasta cured meats, cheese and salads. I had two refreshing mimosas, dessert and honestly came home and slept for the rest of the day. The food was fantastic! This spot was perfect for our 55 person wedding with views and all. It was picturesque, simple and gave us everything we needed since we had a very DIY wedding. I first worked with Jackie and then Elise took over mid year. Elise was an amazing catering manager. She returned every call, text and email and was so easy to work with and accommodating. I visited several times throughout the year to see the space and she was so helpful every time I came to visit. I even wanted some extra time on top of the 4 hours we booked and Elise was able to take care of everything. I started out working with someone and gained a friend. She was so kind and assured me everything would come out perfectly. It did! Few things to know before you book: -You will have to book with Britannia Yachting Center to book the space separately since they are their own entity. After that, Elise from Harbor View will take care of everything, even communication with the folks who run the space. It felt like a little wonky of an arrangement to book and speak to two people separately, but Elise helped make everything run smoothly. -If you want the outside deck, ask! Just be prepared to pay a small extra fee. In my opinion, totally worth it! -It's bare bones! Be prepared to decorate it up as much as you want, or as little, it is a blank canvas! -Harborview has their own linens and blue chairs, but I do recommend you rent your own that better fit the circular tables, especially for nicer events like showers or bigger parties. I recommend you rent your own chairs as well. -If you want cloth napkins, make sure you ask for them, or rent them yourselves! We just went for their regular paper/cocktail napkins and it worked out just lovely for us since everything was buffet style anyway. -Ask for their preferred vendors. We found our DJ, chair and linen rental, tent rental. Everyone was pretty easy to work with for the most part. There is a very relaxed vibe, but everyone gets their stuff done since they're already familiar with the venue. No one disappointed on the big day and we were able to trust that all our vendors could get their stuff done. Ashely and Mike were great, helpful, nice and fun to work with as well bartending and keeping the place in order all night. Our guests were delighted and pleased with the service. The food was AMAZING! I recommend the mussels, shrimp cocktail, chicken marsala, beef tenderloin and penne a la vodka. All the pastas and seafood here are so good. It was so hard to pick from the menu they showed us because everything looked so good. There were plenty of options as well for our dairy free/vegetarian/vegan guests as well. Our guests continue to rave about how great the food was. For drinks champagne, wine, beer, sangria and soda is all you need for a party here! They also have a liquor package if you like :) The prices for renting the space and for the catering were the best I've seen in New York. My new husband and I didn't want to go in debt for our wedding, and Harbor View helped make that happen! You can still stay budget and have an amazing wedding. We can't wait to come back and celebrate again! We love this space and the restaurant next door, the Whale's Tale. We'll continue to visit as much as we can!
