Food items were enjoyed. I had the pulled beef and asked to have the "topped with bbq sauce" on the side. There was plenty already tossed with the meat and I didn't need it, so I'm glad I asked for it on the side. Had salad with it which was great for a side salad. Two had burgers they liked. I have to say the outdoor setting is amazing! Abby is a terrific server! The appetizers were delicious as were the drinks! Corrin, one of the bartenders makes the BEST margaritas! My fiancé and I were patrons at this restaurant 7/312020 on a Friday evening. We had reservations, but still waited for over 30 minutes to be seated. While waiting we attempted to have drinks at the bar, but were passed up several times due to the stressed out bartender and her attitude. The bar tender publicly reprimanded other staff for placing drink ordered incorrectly and continued to lack any customer service to the customers waiting at the bar. By the time our seat was ready, we were not allowed to be seated because we had not closed our tab for the drinks we had not received yet. When these concerns were voiced all we received was an Eye roll and a poor excuse of a drink. After being seated we were given bread with dipping sauce. No napkins, no silverware, and just the cloth that wrapped the bread to use for our hands for almost an hour. When our server came he was very polite, professional, and forthcoming with the fact that the kitchen was behind which was fine because we already knew what we wanted to order given the time we had to look over the menu. When my meal arrived the meat was so hard it had to be cut with a steak knife. I ordered chicken. The front desk staff and server had great attitudes and we're very kind. I understand the business may be short staffed due to Covid, but we still paid for a service and meal in a reputable restaurant that fell short on service, quality, and the "want" to support this local business. No, no, no, no, no. Do NOT come here unless you like throwing your money away. View 202 has the worst menu selection and the food is so disgustingly greasy you feel like you're going to have a heart attack. Not to mention it is way to expensive- I mean really, the view across the river into a trailer park isn't that spectacular. First, the only saving grace was that they have really cool lemonade with different fruit flavorings. That was the ONLY positive thing. The wine was not good, the beers with so heavy, you literally could not see through the glass and our poor waiter has no clue what the different beers were and could make random claims about what he was serving (we went through a few trying-unsuccessfully- to find something drinkable). We got the clam and muscle appetizer, wow. The sauce was like hot water and mustard and the seafood was grainy. We felt like we rather go to Costco and buy some mixed shells and cool them at home. We also got the shrimp appetizer. I don't know what that was but it smelt/tasted like salty airplane food. For the main we all tried different dishes. No one in my group liked the food, it was so bad we didn't even take the rest to go for our dogs because we feared all the fat and grease would make them puke later. So, order a lemonade and get out. We have come here a number of times as we've traveled between CA and WA, staying in Redding for the night. In all honesty, the ONLY thing drawing me here was the view. Service sometimes started out good and then waned; food was never that great. On this trip, we came again - because hubby wanted to (and we didn't know where else to go.) On our trip north, both the service and the food were great! (as was the view.) We love the outside dining area. Kirstin was attentive our entire meal and the meal was good. We weren't super hungry, so ate light - a bowl of clam chowder (different than most!), a farm salad, and a watermelon salad. On our trip south, we ate inside as it was soooo cold and windy outside. Nothing like eating outside, but . . .we had a very private booth inside. Our one complaint inside was that the music was too loud - hard to visit easily. Our server started out as though she didn't care and/or now prepared to work (didn't come to the table knowing some of the items for the day), and it took her forever (as in FOREVER) to get back to us w/answers about menu items. As our dinner and time progressed, she did finally become more attentive. THEN . .our bread & oil/herbs were not brought in a timely fashion at all. Literally in under a minute from the arrival of the bread, our entrees were brought to us. Bread was slow - entrees were not fast.) We enjoyed the chicken dish, flat bread, and coffee. My family came into town and I decided to take them here since our favorite wine bar was closed for lunch. The service was good. Not outstanding, but it was enjoyable. I ordered their charbroiled pizza with peppered arugula salad on top. Sounds delicious. I expected a nice crispy crust with a heaping of spicy arugula piled on top. Once I received my pizza I immediately knew I was not in for what I expected. Somehow topped with peppered arugula turned into a VERY light sprinkling of micro greens. They added nothing to the pizza and was not the item I ordered on the menu. Then, as I picked up the pizza, part of the crust stuck to the plate. It was limp and soggy. It seemed that they finished my pizza first and then let it sit on the plate for a while as they finished the rest of my tables food. soggy with absolutely no crunch. I honestly don't think it would have been much crunchier had they brought it out immediately from the oven. My moms tacos were OK as was my sisters clam chowder. But, we will not be back. read more

I was definitely disappointed with View 202. I don't think it is going to last very long unless they hire a chef that knows how to cook very soon. I have had several friends tell me the service they received was horrible, I however did not experience that. We were seated quickly and our waitress was very friendly and efficient. The drink menu did not really appeal to us so we ended up drinking water, which was very good (some restaurants water tastes horrible, this water was obviously filtered). Whenever our glasses would get close to empty, someone would come by and refill them. We started with the calamari appetizer. It was okay. It was about on par with Cheesecakes Unlimited, but can't even compare to Kobe's. It came with two dipping options, one of which tasted like a can of tomato soup with liquid smoke added. Horrible. For dinner my wife and I both ordered the 12 oz prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes. My wife opted for spinach and I opted for the asparagus. The prime rib was good. There was nothing special about it, no real seasoning, nor were there any options for seasoning or toppings. We had prime rib at Logan's two weeks ago and I couldn't tell a difference between the two, other than that it was more expensive at View 202. The spinach was okay. It was properly cooked but basically no seasoning so it rested entirely on the fact that it was quality spinach. The asparagus on the other hand was horrible and inedible. For starters I don't think it would have been very good regardless of how they prepared it as I think it was just poor quality asparagus in general. Top that off with the fact that it was undercooked and had zero seasoning, it was just plain horrible. The garlic mashed potatoes were good, but once again weren't any better than what is available at Wong's chain restaurants such as Logan's or Applebee's. All in all it was just another mediocre restaurant. 10 years ago it may have done okay in Redding. Right now we have some great restaurants such as Kobe's (good quality food, but its more about the service there), Clearie's (amazing food, top notch service), Maritime, and the list continues. The novelty of their location and interior design will quickly wear off and all that will be left is the mediocre food. read more

The food was a joke, the service was worse! Come on Joe, you can do better than this. We had 5 people on our table, and it didn't seem like any of them knew what was going on. Ordered 1 beer, 1 Bloody Mary and a coke. We got 2 beers (tried any way) served, and then he ran back and showed up with the Bloody Mary. And, then we were charged for both of them. This restaurant could be the best place in town, if you'd just spend the money to get some decent servers (some experience would be good) and maybe a menu that had something to choose from. I settled for the Filet because nothing else appealed to me. More pasta, salads, different meats, etc., none of the fancy stuff!!! I think you're trying too hard and it isn't working. Sorry, but for $170 + tip, we won't be going back unless we see some changes. It reminded me of having dinner in a nice resturant in San Fransico, which I love to do. I had the lamb with aged cheddar mac and cheese. It was superb! Definitely recommend the deck but bring a coat even with heaters and fire pots all around. Plenty of tables and coaches for dinner or drinks. Parking lot is very small you may have to walk on busy times. Jenna was our server she did a great job very attentive and checked back often. Came to town for work and found this place on the second night. Went back on the Third night and my co worker wanted to go again on the fourth night. As a foodie, that travels for work, it takes a lot to impress me. View 202 more than impressed me! Lamb Chops were divine my first meal and the Steak Frites were above average. I think I could easily work my way through your menu and be happy with every meal served. Taste was great, presentation was phenomenal. Service the first trip was top notch but I will say the second night the waiter was a little lacking in attentiveness and he could have used a little more knowledge about your house wine. The food and view won us over so if we were here longer I could guarantee you we would be back. You never know, you might just see us tonight. I'm only giving this 2 stars because the view was awesome. It should only be 1! A river view with a gorgeous sunset. I was extremely disappointed with the "homemade ravioli." The raviolis were enormous and tasteless. I'd preferred 10 small raviolis rather than 5 gigantic ones. They were stuffed with vegetables and soaked in lots of white sauce, cheese, and butter. This sure wasn't ravioli from an Italian chef that's for sure! No basil or garlic flavor. The waiter was mediocre since he wasn't as attentive as he could have been on a slow Monday night. He never asked how my food was. Also, I had to ask for my water to be refilled. What irked me the most was when I paid instead of leaving 1 five and 7 ones. He left 1 ten and 2 ones. Trying to force me to leave $10! A 20% tip should have been only $8! The check was $48. I figured he needed the $ so I left it since business had been slow prior, due to the unfortunate fires. I have been here several times because the atmosphere is so nice, and I keep hoping I maybe had a bad experience. That is NOT the case!! The food is fair but even more importantly, the service is HORRIBLE!!! I never got asked for a refill on water or 'do I want another drink' until I had been without for at least 5-10 min!! I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they are busy inside ( I always sit outside), and they aren't! I have been to many restaurants that are chains and get great service. Six days ago I posted a negative review about View 202 as my husband and I were very disappointed over treatment regarding a reservation for Valentine's Day dinner. Following my review, we were contacted by Patrick, View 202's GM. Patrick was amazing and arranged a 7:00 pm dinner for us on Valentine's. When we arrived our table was waiting and we were seated immediately. Patrick graciously greeted us as well. They were serving a special four course meal. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and the presentation was phenomenal. The service was exemplary. We recently moved to Redding and View 202 quickly became one of our favorite restaurants due to the always friendly and accommodating service, the stunning views, consistently delicious and distinctive dishes, and imaginative and delightful cocktails. Only giving this 2 stars because the food was decent and the venue is nice. I came in with a group of girlfriends, we ordered a bottle of wine,server places wine on table and then asks "do you guys have a safe ride home?!" (Not in a joking or playful way but in a semi-animistic-strange-way)walks away (we all look at each other confused)... no wine glasses on the table...waiting, waiting (maybe she didn't have the wine opener etc). Well 20 minutes pass with our server having no intention of returning to open our wine or pour our glasses, one member of the party goes in to find an opener and glasses at the bar. Overall one of the strangest experiences dining I've had, the server continues to be surly almost borderline angry the rest of the meal. I'm not sure if ordering a bottle of wine amongst friends pissed her off or what, hope she doesn't treat other patrons this way! Go to Moonstone Bistro! OK first off I must say the view here is amazing, as well as the decor. I didn't have a bad experience by any means, but it really wasn't anything special. I expected the food to taste really good, but it fell short. I ordered the steak frites and my friend ordered the wild mushroom fettuccini and my other friends ordered the fried chicken club. The steak frites could've been good, but it was smothered with a heavy sauce that provided no flavor. The steak was cooked fine, the fries were soggy. The wild mushroom fettuccini was ok but definitely not worth 26$. Again, kind of bland and the sauce was watery. The fried chicken club was soooooo good, I might come back just for that. The service was pretty good as well. But 76$ for three people for lunch is pretty steep. I don't know if I'd be back. read more
