We arrived at the restaurant at 4:55pm for our 5:00pm reservation and we were warmly greeted and seated promptly. We were seated along the large window overlooking patio seating and the Sacramento River. The views are truly lovely. Our server, MJ greeted us kindly and took our beverage order. I ordered a glass of their House White, which was a 2022 California Chardonnay and was quite good. My partner ordered an iced tea. For dinner we ordered the Ribeye and the Filet, both cooked medium. Our food arrived approximately 30 minutes after ordering. The quality of the beef here was absolutely top notch. Prime beef for sure. This was the best steak I have enjoyed in Shasta County in over 10 years. Absolutely cooked to perfection. My partner's filet was massive. This had to be at least a 20 ounce filet and he enjoyed every morsel. The sides accompanying our mains, mashed potatoes and carrots for him and mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts for me, were fair to good, but not great. The carrots were raw. As in, not only very crunchy but cold all the way through. Mashed potatoes were nice and buttery, but not nearly warm enough. These spuds sat on a plate until the beef arrived. The restaurant was very kind in offering us a complimentary slice of cheesecake since we were celebrating an anniversary. The cheesecake was dense and rich and accompanied by berry sauce and caramel sauce, both of which were lovely. Freshly piped whipped cream and mixed berries and powdered sugar on the dessert plate made for a very lovely presentation, indeed, and was most appreciated. Service the entire meal was excellent. Price for our meals: $135 + $27 gratuity for a total of $162. We have paid nearly as much for a steak dinner elsewhere in Shasta County for a meal that came nowhere close to this. Worth. Every. It's hard to mess these up, but the bartenders have been attentive and good. No complaints. Restaurant: I have been here several times and have found the kitchen lacking. They have a solid view of the river, but the atmosphere is ruined by subpar food. I've had only mediocre steaks here. Definitely avoid any tenderloin. Everything else was just boring, as though it was re-heated Sysco food. Service: I've never had bad service here, and when I've complained about food issues, I was always taken care of. I've been wanting to try the Social Hour menu, and since today is Margherita Monday, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to bring my kids and enjoy the view. We walked in and waited a couple of minutes to be seated. Once seated, we waited for over 15 minutes, but no one came to attend to us. We were getting hungry, especially the kids, and we were all getting thirsty. When we finally decided to leave, there were absolutely no staff members to be found anywhere inside. However, the couple seated about a minute before us had already been served drinks and ordered their food. We were very disappointed because we wanted to try the Social Hour menu, and my last review was five stars. Today, it's one star. Instead, we left and went to Raw, where we were immediately seated, served water, and had our order taken within five minutes. I came for dinner and got fine dining. I'm very glad that I made reservations early on. Traci was our awesome waitress, and Julina was our server. Both of these ladies provided superior customer service. The house was very busy, but they were extremely accommodating. I started my meal with a very tastey, bloody mary. First came our bread basket with local sourced homage style lovely bread with a pesto dip were the basil was the star and the garlic wasn't. It even had a hint of lemon on the buds. Perfect. As an appetizer we shared the Vegan Scallops. We were seated, but waited up to 30 minutes without any greeting from our server- no offer of drinks, not even a simple "Hi sorry we're a bit behind, I'll be right with you." Looking for a venue for a family celebration, we noticed that View 202 provided a great view but also looked to have some positive reviews for food. The ambience, setting, and cleanliness of the restaurant. It's modern designed with pretty floral paintings throughout. The lighting creates an intimate and relaxed atmosphere perfect for casual dining, intimate dates, or larger party celebrations. Initially we had made reservations for the patio but due to the smoke we decided to sit indoors. The patio has many seating options (I would recommend making reservations online 1 -2 days before), out door misting stations for super hot days, and pretty lights hanging above. The food is overpriced. Regarding selection, it's a standard American dining dinner menu. I don't think that the lack of selection is necessarily a bad thing... IF it can be executed well. We ordered the following items: prime rib, mediterranean halibut, Cajun Blackened Salmon, Short Rib Gnocchi, and the View Burger. Calamari: Was one of the best calamari appetizers I've ordered. It came with an amazing sauce and each calamari was a thick and tender slice of squid. Not just little rings. 5/5 if you like calamari you need to order it here. A) Prime Rib: 5/5. This was one of the best dishes we had entree wise. It's not a steak house so it wasn't the best prime rib I've ever had; however, it was quality. I asked for medium and the cook was medium. The meat was very tender. The prime rib wasn't overly salty and I felt it paired well with the potatoes and asparagus. B) Short Rib Gnocchi: 5/5. This was the other stand out of the night. The short ribs were very tender and seasoned well. The gnocchi also seemed like it was freshly made. Now for the food that could be improved upon. C and D) Both the halibut and the salmon were too dry. The seasoning was fine if not a little too salty but the primary issue was how dry everything turned out. Maybe a little overcooked... E) The view burger was asked to be cooked at a medium we ended up getting a burger that was closer to well-done. Very chewy, bun was soggy, and overall not worth the $20. The fries were decent. Service. Our service was very very very slow. I don't blame the waiter/bartender but I think that was one of the issues. Our waitperson was in charge of the bar and had to serve our party. I don't expect to be checked on every 5 seconds, but we had to make requests to get stuff from the bussing staff in order to get what we needed. For our entire dinner service which was about 1.5-2 hours plates weren't cleared. We ended up grabbing additional silverware from an empty table. When our waitperson/bartender was available though they were very friendly, personable, smiled, and cracked jokes but I think this is something that has to change. The person manning the bar for the entire restaurant SHOULD NOT also be responsible for covering a table especially a larger party. I'm not sure if we will be back for a full dinner party in the future. But to get calamari and to enjoy the views with friends that might be something that we would do again. read more

We visited for the first time last night. It was fantastic! Let's start with the drink menu.... I got a tasty vodka berry smash. My friends got the sangria and a mocktail which were all delicious. The ambiance was wonderful. They keep the restaurant dark but have this cute table lamps that turn on. It wasn't too noisy even though they filled up. We were at a table but they also had plush velvet booth. Service was attentive but not overbearing. All of the food was dynamite! We all had different salads: The View, the Caesar, and Caper Citrus salad which had crispy capers!!! Yum! All the salads were perfectly dressed. A definite highlight of the night was the warm bread and verde sauce they served. The verde sauce is garlic, olive oil, and some green herb that you dip the bread in. So good!!!! I decided to spend one of my last nights in Redding trying to find great ambiance and dinner. One of the bartenders at my hotel recommended the View 22, so here we are. I really enjoyed the patio seating and overhead twinkling lights. This restaurant is located right next to the river so the views are great! So great that everyone kept getting up to take pictures off the clear fencing on the patio. This became a bit of a nuisance throughout our dinner. There were a lot of bugs too and the glass fencing was in desperate need of cleaning. The food was average and due to the busyness of the restaurant, food took a long time to be prepared. Our waitress was nice but only checked on us once at the start of our meal. We had to flag her down to get the check when we were ready to leave as well. Lastly there is zero lighting at the entrance, which made for quite the obstacle coarse in heels as the parking lot is also located downhill. My opinion is that I didn't find this restaurant all that impressive and there are better options in Redding if you're looking for a nice dinner. read more

Visited Sunday 10/22/23 for a birthday dinner. The waitress was friendly and helpful, the view was pretty. The kitchen accommodated a couple requests for kids which was nice of them. The place was pretty empty for a weekend, but it still took more than an hour to get our food (6-top). The prices were a bit high, even though I am accustomed to pricey dining it seemed higher than normal to me. The patio was beautiful, although the kids noticed a HUGE spider with a pretty impressive web on the ceiling of the patio overhang right above our table. Sure it's outdoor dining but not exactly what you want to be eating under! What was most infuriating though was the 2% surcharge for using a credit card. They have a sign warning you of this near the front... in illegible black-on-blue (see picture). They also surcharge on debit cards per the sign, but that is not allowed by the banks. If the kitchen drank a couple Red Bulls and the owners toned down the greed a bit it would probably be a nice place. read more

I've been for fancy date nights and recently went to enjoy their new happy hour. They have some great prices on tap beers and house cocktails. I went with 2 girlfriends on Friday for happy hour (2:02-6:00 bar side only) we had the garlic parm fries, pork belly, house made chips and chicken bites. All of it was amazing. Piping hot and fresh. The chips were crisp and cooked perfectly, chicken was tender and flavorful, the garlic fries they were some of the best. It wasn't just a heap of oil/butter garlic.
