Excellent service! Tasty food with very reasonable price! Little gem for Vietnamese food.

To go order was small and sad. This place has had the worst turnover in this strip mall. It was like a sandwich place and something something else and now this. Okay, back to the small portion Pho. Grabbed my to-go order and was still left hungry. The eggrolls were super chewy by the way, and the thai tea at nearly $6 was pricey and watery. Didn't and haven't tried their banh mi sandwich, but based on my to go order, I won't be back. It'll probably be another restaurant at this rate in another year or two. read more

I've been wanting to go here for a while now. I walked in, and it was packed.  The place was super busy.   There were so many items to choose from,  it was hard not to  make my own sampler.  The place is simply decorated, but ig ready for a post.   I was greeted right away and placed my order for to go.    I ordered: 1. Iced Vietnamese coffee - I was surprised it was made the traditional way,  pour over.   A lot of places nowadays just have it ready to pour over ice.  This was the perfect pick me up for lunch.   Sweet with just the right amount of punch. 2.  Fried egg rolls - So crispy, it doesn't even need the sauce.  The wrapper they used was different and gave you an extra crunchiness. 3.  Grilled beef over rice with egg roll -  The beef was super tender and flavorful.  I liked that for once, it didn't come with a salad but instead possibly picked carrots and daikon?     Overall,  the food was amazing. Service was fast and friendly. Didn't have to wait too long, and the food was fresh.  Highly recommend and I look forward to coming back soon. read more

My family and I went to this place for Banh Mi. We were able to sit down right away and be served immediately. Upon arrival, we received hot tea, which was really warm. The host was speedy in service and served our food promptly. The restaurant itself is bright and welcoming. The best Banh Mi that we ate would definitely be the Grilled Beef. It was flavorful and tender. Would definitely come back to order the same Banh Mi again! read more

Yummy menu and great Banh Mi Chicken sandwich! Nice to know there's a great Vietnamese Banh Mi spot in San Bruno!

Located in the same plaza as Lucky's. I hate to give a 2 star review for a new restaurant but just sad. The cold cut bahn mi was the saddest bahn mi ever. For $8.50, it was about half the size of many full bahn mi sandwhiches around.!there was only 1 piece of ham and no pate or pork inside. The lemongrass pork chop was fairly too sweet and tasted more like the marinade for grilled pork chop. Service by the older lady at the counter was a bit cold but the younger guy was nice. read more

This location used to be a Korean sando and bento box place that just didn't make it. Sad that they didn't survive but happy to see a much needed Vietnamese place in the plaza. Their menu is pretty simple and has all the basics you would associate with Vietnamese cuisine. Most people grab a sandwich to go. Wanting to try a little bit of everything, I ordered: Cold Cut Banh Mi ~this is the OG to measure all sandwiches by and I would say it was dry, not enough pate Crispy Pork Chop Sandwich ~marinated chopped pork that's kinda lightly deep fried but not heavily battered Pork Belly with Kimchi Sandwich ~a Korean take on the banh mi but I can pretty much make this at home Combo #1 Rice Plate $17.75 ~comes with grilled chicken and grilled pork, a fried egg roll and a fried egg, you can also choose rice or vermicelli Bun Bo Hue $15.95 ~this was kinda disappointing: not spicy enough, pork blood and just overall was not authentic but a close copy cat version Sandwiches were $9.50 and they're still running their promo to buy 4 and get 1 free -- so $38 for 5 sandwiches. I'll let you do the math to see if it's worth it. The sandwiches are good for a light meal but be prepared to wait or go do your shopping at Luckys and then come back for pick up. Restaurant is casual and service was adequate with some wait. Appears to be a family run business. read more

I was curious about this place and the banh mi. I was greeted quickly, and the person was friendly. It was a cozy restaurant inside. I wanted to try the banh mi here, and to my liking, the amount of pickled carrots they placed into the sandwich and the jalapenos added a great kick. I would like to go back and try other things on their menu. read more

After shopping across the street at the mall, I looked up some places to eat nearby and Viet Time popped up. It had good reviews, prices, and looked relatively new so I wanted to try it! I wanted to try their banh mis, and fortunately, they had a tofu sandwich as a vegan option. It is $8.50 alone or $12 with a drink combo. I ordered mine without mayo. It took nearly 20 minutes for my order to come out. They looked busy, but the pho bowls flew out more quickly. When my sandwich finally came out, I couldn't be more disappointed. The bread is a nice size, but hardly toasted at all and was too soft and had no crunch. There was NO jalapeno and they put the most insulting skinny piece of cucumber. Please refer to my photo posted -it's honestly really sad they thought it was ok to use that piece of cucumber. Finally, they added the saddest sprig of cilantro on top. What is even the point?? This is the most pathetic banh mi I've ever seen. The only redeeming thing about the sandwich is that the tofu itself is delicious, fried, crunchy, and of good quality, but everything else was laughable. All they had to do was toast the bread a bit longer, add in an APPROPRIATE amount of cucumber & cilantro, and add a few slices of jalapenos. HARD pass on this place. I know this is a newer location, so you have time to fix these mistakes. But I won't be back. read more

Not to shabby for this new spot. Let me breakdown everything sampled and how it all faired. Took the kids here they each ordered a rice plate Daughter grilled pork chop plate with rice - semi sweet pork super tender delicious pairing with rice Son ordered the lemongrass pork chop plate sweeter then the grilled pork with steamed rice also super tender and delicious Crispy porkchop rice plate with rice and fried sunnyside egg, reminds me of salt n pepper porkchop you would get at a Chinese restaurant but unseasoned, piping hot use the sweet dip for seasoning but on a whole it was delicious having it bare Combo Pho #2 beef brisket, tripe, I think they need to add more meat but on a whole this was very flavorful and delicious might have to ask for more meat next time for this dish Fried egg roll - piping hot super crunch, pairs well with dip Thai ice tea x 2 - for the kiddos both downed the drink even before the food got to the table basically meaning it was legit sweet and tasty lol Food **** Price $$ Service *** you have to wave them down to order, refill of water, extra napkins, utensils, basically anything you have to wave them down Ambiance **** clean, bright, small tables read more

I saw a new Vietnamese spot pop up in the area so I had to try it. The restaurant is newly renovated and clean. They also have a cute grass wall with a neon "Viet time" sign for your Instagram needs. Parking is easy since it's in a plaza with lots of parking spots. Firstly, we came when the restaurant was newly opened so they may still be figuring things out. But, the setup of the cashier makes it hard to differentiate takeout orders vs dine in. They don't have a waitress or waiter working the dine in so we thought we had to get in line at the cashier to order first. 5 min into waiting in line, then someone asked us if we were dining in and seated us. The food took a long time to arrive. They didn't bring us water until maybe 20 min in. Then our food came 30 min in. They had a lot of takeout orders at the same time and those people were also waiting for a long time. The food though was good. The fried tofu was nicely fried and tasted like salt & pepper chicken but with tofu. We got the Chicken Garlic Noodles and the Lemongrass Pork Chop Rice plate. Everything was flavorful. The lemongrass pork was more sweet than I'd like but it was still good. They also add Parmesan cheese to their garlic noodles, which we weren't expecting. Maybe we'll give them some time to work things out a bit, then we'll be back. read more

Fairly new place, 3-months open, Vietnamese eatery in the mall by Lowe's in San Bruno. Clean, modern, bright spacious welcoming interior with a nicely placed comfy corner for people waiting for their takeout. Staff was warm and helpful with questions. Did takeout order: 1. COLD CUT BANH MI - Vietnamese sandwich of head cheese, fancy pork, Ham & pâté. An option was to add jalapeños. To me, jalapeños are a must with banh mi. The Vietnamese butter in lieu of house-made mayo was new to me. No cucumbers. A personal preference: The only thing that throws me off a classic cold cut combo is the ham that's offered now and it's a different classic. Still a good banh mi with the warm crusty bread laden w/cold cuts, pâté, Vietnamese butter, pickled veggies, jalapeños (optional), fresh cilantro. 9. COMBO #2 RICE PLATE - Grilled chicken, pork chop, egg roll & fried egg, small salad, Nước Chấm. This was a good recommendation by staff. Nice combo that was filling and satisfying. I love Vietnamese grilled meats and seafood but I did not get the grilled flavors or enough of it. The chicken seemed slightly grilled but the pork chop not at all. And I LOVE me a good GRILLED Pork chop! A solid grilling would put this as awesome because the seasonings were all there! Other than lack grill flavors, 1 star off, I would return to try other menu offerings. I'm always ready for a Tofu Vegetarian banh mi, garlic noodles, pho, Bun Rieu or Bun Bo Hue, Shrimp Rolls or their Viet Time Sampler. See you there! read more

Excited by a new place in my area that serves bánh mì (Vietnamese style short baguette sandwich), I was eyeing Viet Time for a couple of months and finally got to stop by and check them out on the afternoon of Friday, December 15, 2023. Venue: 4.5 stars. Located in the San Bruno Towne Center, I immediately parked my car at a space right in front of the eatery. I arrived shortly before 3:30 PM to a dining room with only about two or three occupied tables. One of the tables was being used by a staff member. The venue, with white ceiling, walls, and floor, appeared clean and well-kept. Minimal décor on the walls with a cute faux greenery & floral back drop with the restaurant's personalized neon light/sign serving as the space's focal point, a perfect background for a foodie's social media photo post. Food & drink: 3.5 stars. Below are the to-go items that I ordered. SANDWICH (COLD CUT) & DRINK COMBO ($12) with Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I customized my sandwich to omit the Head Cheese and Ham and replace them with extra Pate. When I referred to the Fancy Pork by its Vietnamese term, Cha Lua, this is when I realized that Nelson did not know the native word for this meat. For replacing both the Head Cheese and Ham, I was expecting way more Pate than I received. Perhaps the original serving is skimpy? I enjoyed the BANH MI nevertheless as well the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I ordered an extra Vietnamese Iced Coffee for my husband. He said that it wasn't bad, but was a bit on the dark side. Service: 4 stars. Nelson was not familiar with some Vietnamese food terms (Can't blame him if he is not Vietnamese; however, Viet Time should consider the value in educating their staff on what some items are called in the native language), but he was extremely friendly and informative. I enjoyed conversing with him and learning some background history of the place. Thank you, Viet Time, for coming to our neighourhood! I will see you again!! read more

First time at this place. The menu is posted on the wall for take out, lots of great looking tasty offers. You can also sit down and place your with the food server. The pho was okay. It was not really steaming hot-which is the way I like my pho. They skimped on the toppings like not much fresh basil-just one branch! Broth taste-okay. The lemon was kind of old like it was left out. Ordered chicken wings for appetizer, and the legs weren't cook through...it was bloody like rare!!! I want to give this place a chance. We will try their ban mi and take another try at the pho. Hope you guys get the message. This is a great location for Vietnamese food, please improve cause we're rooting for you!!!!! read more

Stopped by to try some drinks. We got the three color drink and vietnamese coffee. Im pretty disappointed in the drinks and wanted to provide some feedback. First the mung beans tasted off. It tasted very beany and grainy. Quite overpowering. I didn't taste any coconut milk as I usually would with che. Also, it was wayyy too sweet to enjoy. It would be nice to have a spoon to eat some of the toppings too. As for the 2 Vietnamese coffees we got, one drink was extremely bitter and had no hint of sweetness. The other drink tasted like a regular Vietnamese coffee. I wish it was more creamy and sweet tho. Additionally reducing the amount of ice would be great because half of it was ice. Overall the shop's seating and ambiance was nice. I like how bright and inviting the space was. The cashier was also very friendly. I would love to come back to try their food dishes. read more

This was my first time here. I wanted to like the place, but I was disappointed. I ordered a bahn mi combo with chicken and Thai iced tea. The food looked appealing, but it was bland and there was no flavor to be honest. Prices are affordable. I only ate half of my sandwich and left the other half at the table. The Thai iced tea was not sweet at all and tasted old. The only thing that I did like were the shrimp rolls. They were made fresh and the peanut sauce was authentic as well. My husband got the soup and he liked it. The place was clean and cute, but I would not come back to eat the items I just had. This place used to be the old just my toast place. They seemed to be short staffed and only had 2 employees working. read more

Large portions but the grilled pork was honestly one of the worst I've had in a Vietnamese restaurant. It was chewy and 0 char or grilled flavor to it. I think boiling the pork would be even better than what i got. read more

The food here is solid. They give large portions especially for the price. I got the crispy fried pork chop which was actually a bit too fried. Food took a bit long to come out even though they weren't that busy, but overall great experience. Inside was clean and bright. read more

We only came here since we were in the area and had 4 stars. My Seafood Pho soup was kind of bland, nothing special, had to add lemon to have some taste. My son had fried egg roll, also tastes bland unless you dip it in the sauce. My daughter had the grilled pork sandwich and said it was good. My mom had the shrimp vermicelli and said it was okay. I've had better tasting Vietnamese food in surrounding cities. Also, did not come to refill our waters or check on us. read more

Convenient location in San Bruno, in the same outdoor mall as Marshall's. Lots of parking. Good prices. My partner and I have dined in and ordered takeout a few times. We've ordered their banh mi combo (about $10) which comes with your choice of banh mi and drink (iced coffee, milk tea, or Thai tea). I've also had their rice plate with chicken wings, bbq pork chop, and spring roll. Very tasty and satisfying. I do think their portions are smaller than other Vietnamese places in the surrounding areas of San Bruno and SSF. But, I still think the quantity and quality are commensurate with the overall pricing. If you're craving Vietnamese cuisine for a reasonable price in San Bruno or SSF, check Viet Time. read more

I am up here visiting from Los Angeles and was in the mood for some Vietnamese food. After reading reviews, decided to come out here. Decided to try the beef Tom Yum Noodle Soup to go. I ordered the chicken noodle soup and spring rolls. I liked the spring rolls though the peanut sauce had quite a bit of peanuts in it. But my personally preference is more liquidy. If you like nuts in your sauce then it's good. The soup was good and tasted solid. It was perfect for what I was looking for and that's despite the fact I didn't add any chili or sauces this time. I had gone to the restaurant to pick up a DoorDash order. The staff member at the front said, "Your order is not ready yet" when I showed them my pickup order. After that, they made me wait--I waited about half an hour. The food still wasn't ready. Other people came, picked up their food, but I was still waiting. I asked again, thinking it shouldn't be this delayed, why my food still wasn't ready. Even after asking, the staff member just automatically responded, "Your food is not ready yet," despite me waiting for 30 minutes. Then, I told them--look, I already waited half an hour. When they properly checked my order. before I even arrived at the restaurant, the food was ready, sitting in a corner. But they made me wait all this time for no reason. I really didn't like their service at all--the staff was so unprofessional, making me sit and even after I asked again, they still ignored me. Their service was absolutely zero. This kind of service causes customers to not receive their food on time, their food gets cold, and drivers are also unable to deliver the food on time. It affects the drivers' accounts as well, and customers do not receive their food on time even after paying for it. If they are busy and the food is not ready , that is understandable because once the food is prepared, we can deliver it right away and the customer receives hot food on time. Thank you read more

I went to Viet Time for the first time and I have to say I am very impressed by this small family business. The customer service is excellent and this is an easy location to go to even on busy days. The best part is how affordable their menu is also. Very rarely do I see Bahn Mi's in the Bay being charged under $10 and they sell theirs for $8.50 each which is a big plus in my book. The interior is also super clean and comfortable. I got to try the Pork Belly with Kimchi Sandwich and Crispy Pork Chop Sandwich. They were both some of the better Bahn Mi's I've had recently. The Pork Belly and Kimchi is a unique combo and the kimchi itself replaces the Jalapenos and it works perfectly. I would highly recommend it. The pork belly and the pork chops were very tender and juicy. The bread was also very crispy. I'm definitely coming here again whenever I'm craving sandwiches and everyone working there is so friendly. 10/10 experience all around. This is a family business worth supporting! read more

This spot took over a Korean toast cafe that closed down. The inside is nice and clean. It's small, but I didn't feel cramped. It can easily accommodate eat-in and to-go. The staff was nice and they asked if we wanted tea or water which was really nice imo. So onto the food: I've gotten to-go and sat in to eat. Their special combo pho- they give a lot for size small and even more for size large. It's a healthy amount of meat and noodles. The soup was just ok. Nothing to complain about, but also nothing to write home about. It was ok. My fiancee, who loves pho, said the same. I tried their chicken pho - it was good. I'd rate it above their beef pho. It had a really strong chicken taste, maybe a bit too strong for me. I added pepper and soy sauce to tone it down a bit. I liked the variety of chicken meat included and I liked their thick rice noodles. It was good, but again not anything crazy. Lastly we tried their shrimp spring roll. This was good. The sauce was good and the wrap tasted fresh and spring-y. Dunno how else to put it haha. It was good. Overall, it's an affordable decent spot for your quick pho fix. read more

We come here pretty often but after tonight, we probably won't go back. The rice plate came super late after everyone was done with their food. This is the second time this happened.
