3.5 stars. This was my second visit to Vida. The first time I did not try the food. Rockstar and I ordered the salsa and three tacos. The service was really good. Very fresh tasting salsa. Not a nice place. If you are a local or visiting customer. DO NOT support for the rude customer service what they have. Having dinner here many time but the last time we come was a bad experience. We have a complain about the tuna taco was tasted bad. And what they did is arguing with us and tell us how long we take a bite from the taco. Making us feel like we want to take $6 for free or what ever. Such a bull sh place. Telling our credit card was declined when we do not ask them to do. We've stopped in here a few times for tacos and have never been disappointed. The margaritas are refreshing and they don't hold back on the tequila, which is reflected in the pricing. Our last visit, we ordered the nachos and the order was way bigger than expected. The queso didn't overpower the tray and they were devoured. The taco list has a variety of flavors that are on rotation. I can recommend the pork belly and the ahi tuna for sure. Overall, a great place to try different types of tacos other than your "gringo" style. Although, that's on the menu as well for the less adventurous. Checked out this spot with some friends. Causal ambience and nice decor. We shared the guacamole and the blanco queso dip. We asked our waitress which one was better and she said its personal preference. Typically a waiter or waitress will tell you what's more popular and what's not or what they personally like, which helps you decide. I thought both were just okay. The queso dip was pretty spicy. There was nothing special about the chips. Both the guacamole and the queso dip came in bowls that made it difficult to scoop the dips out of. I ordered the seared scallop taco, ahi tuna taco, and the soft shell crab taco. You can order the tacos on either a corn, flour, or lettuce shell. When I asked our waitress the difference between corn and flour, she didn't know or offer to find out. I ended up ordering all three on a flour tortilla. My favorite was the seared scallop taco. The flavors for the seared scallop were amazing. The ahi tuna taco was also very good and fresh. The soft shell crab taco was my least favorite. The soft shell crab seemed to be just placed on a flour shell with nothing else. Our waitress was not the most attentive or very knowledgeable on the menu. When asking her about certain ingredients or degrees of spiciness, she didn't seem to know. Also, when it came time for us to pay our waitress was unable to split the bill. I have been coming to this place for 2-3 years and came often during the last month. Today was my worst experience with their Ahi Tuna tacos and their rude service. The tuna was cold, over cook, and very chew. We had it last time, so we know how different it was today. My friend and I talked abt it right away after I tried a small bite of the tuna meat; I even didn't touch the corn drap. I asked the server and she agreed for me to oder something else. The bill total for 2 of us was over 60$ which mean we are not cheap to trick them to get a free taco! Surprisingly they still charge us that horrible tuna taco, and claimed that I ate more than half of it. Do yourself a favor and start out with a house margarita (or Purple Drank if you're looking for a sweeter half-margarita/half-sangria mix) and a bowl of guacamole. It might be overpriced, but the freshness and flavor more than make up for the cost. With plenty of taco options to choose from you really can't go wrong ordering anything, but I'd highly recommend the buffalo cauliflower and ahi tuna tacos. Ordered the chips and queso because what else would you start off with at a taco bar and boy was I disappointed. Chips, standard rate nothing to write home about. The queso presented well where you looked at it and you knew you were looking at cheese dip but the taste was not quite much or anything and that was over all the problem the tastes of everything. Either things weren't tasty enough or the tastes lingered too long. The ginger from the Thai basil shrimp taco was over bearing, the tinga chicken tasted like ground beef and the pickled red onions from the pacifica left this weird tomato paste taste on my tongue. The traditional and non-traditional tacos were unique and tasty. My favorite were the Carne Asada and Pacifico. The Pork Belly taco sounded interesting, but the hoisin was overkill. The chips and queso were addicting, however I definitely need to try the guacamole that other Yelpers have raved about! While the food and service was pretty spot on, the ambiance and wait time were kind of a buzzkill. We went on a Saturday and waited about an hour for a table. The place isn't very big and it seemed like a lot of tables were sitting for quite awhile (as they should, but this led to a very slow turnover). The acoustics are also terrible in this place. I shouted across the table for the first part of our meal and resorted to texting across the table at the end. The drunk bros yelling at the table next to us probably didn't help. Bottom Line: Tacos and tequila paired with excellent service make for a unique experience for downtown Annapolis. After walking by Vida Taco I finally gave it a try on a Sunday evening. Service was perfect from start to finish and the margarita was one of the best, if not the best, I've ever had. Margaritas are $6 on Sundays and definitely money well spent. I like that they have many different tequilas so you can upgrade your margarita or just get a good shot of tequila. We started with chips and guacamole. The guacamole was good but for $12 I think I was expecting something fancier like table side preparation. I like a really thin chip but the chips they serve are thicker which are probably more authentic. As others have noted, they have traditional tacos and non-traditional tacos. Even after living in San Diego for 12 years I think I am taco prude because to me a traditional taco is beef, chicken, fish or shrimp. Traditional tacos on the Vida menu included braised cow tongue and octopus which seems non-traditional to me. On the other hand, non-traditional tacos on the menu included Mahi Mahi and ahi tuna so I guess the traditional v. non-traditional bifurcation is based on Mexican standards. We had carne asada, butternut squash and Mahi Mahi tacos. The carne asada taco was my favorite and despite loving mole, I didn't really enjoy the butternut squash taco that had a firm piece of squash nestled among mole and pumpkin seeds. But, it is nice that they have a vegetarian option here. Overall, I found the tacos to be disappointing but I'm probably spoiled by my 12 years in San Diego and ongoing monthly visits there. I agree with others that the prices seem a bit steep but it is a fun experience. Another cool thing about Vida is that they offer flour tortillas, corn tortillas and bib lettuce "tortillas." Also, they source their ingredients locally when possible. I appreciate that they focus on what they do best - tacos and tequilla. Even though this isn't my favorite restaurant in DTA I totally get why others crush on it. Stopped by around 4pm on a Saturday and were seated right away. The restaurant has a cool vibe and so do the servers. Service was great and food came out at a good pace. We were happy to be seated by the storefront window in the cute town. We had their "purple drink" sangria; it was on the sweeter side but I would order one again on a hot day. Also ordered 4 different tacos on corn tortilla: chicken tinga, carne asada, fried fish and korean porkbelly. The first three were okay. The porkbelly was awesome though; I would order it with a little less kimchi next time so that the meat flavor comes out better. I didn't enjoy the pickled onions on the fish taco, it was just too vinegary for my taste. I also ordered a Paloma that was really delicious. We were a little worried about having enough room for a baby, but it was easy to store the stroller right when you walk in, and there is an upper back level of seating that is more spacious. It was a Sunday, so they gad a $6 margarita deal. I'd highly recommend it--it was perfectly salted, there was a bit of lime zest inside, and I'd say it was one of the best margs I'd ever had. They offer a great variety of tacos and each is unique. I had to get the soft shell crab rack, because when in Maryland...the cold ahi tuna taco was also good--the pineapple added a great zest to it. I loved it all. I loved the semi hipster vibe of the restaurant. Jerry our server was amazing. He had a large party to tend to but he still made us feel like we were his top priority and took the time to both inform us of great tips about Vida's food and drinks as well as engage us with fun conversation. The tuna ceviche was phenomenal. I thought I'd hate the corn nuts in it but they were a great and unique addition. I really enjoyed the chicken taco with some of the most tender and flavorful pulled chicken I've ever had. The battered fish taco was also done very well and don't skip the fried avocado taco. I enjoyed the options of lettuce, corn, or flour shells for my tacos which were all scrumptious. I noticed it gets pretty packed after 5 on weekends so I'd encourage getting there before then. We were lucky to find a free parking lot on South street with a short walk to Vida. This is a pretty nice date day/night location being in downtown Annapolis right by the water. Excited to try Vida but the enthusiasm was short lived. I cannot say it was bad, but I can say it was not good. Salt and pepper would take this place a long way. The very green staff walked through the dining room with blinders on but the attentive manager made up for their short comings. The sharable Guac and Queso artfully presented, was bland. The craft cocktail were the highlight of the experience. The Pablo Tacobar was a total hit and the Death of the El Jimador though less yummy, had the drama of smoking dry ice (ala. Tiki Bar Chicago). The taco's $5 were heavy on filling but the tiny tortilla make anything other than a fork useful to consume. While all the ingredients were top notch, the lack of seasoning made them drudgery to eat. So sad, the last great experience in this space was an ice cream cone in 1981, regretfully the record still stands. read more

Applause, applause!! A very delicious meal!! Started our meal off with house margaritas and queso fundido, which were both very good. I ordered an a-la-cart lamb barbacoa taco and a Pacifica taco. Both were excellent. The lamb barbacoa offered a rich flavor topped with a corn salsa, while the Pacifica taco included a piece of lightly fried fish, with a sweet guava hot sauce and cabbage slaw. It was delightful to say the least. My friends also enjoyed the sweet potato tacos as well. We finished our dinner with the churro donuts, which includes chocolate dipping sauce and milk!! The menu is filled with tasty and colorful tacos, bursting with flavor, made of good quality, natural ingredients. There are plenty of vegetarian, seafood, and meat options. A taco even consisted of a whole soft-shell crab - appropriate, I guess, for Maryland. Low carb diet followers can also elect to substitute corn tortilla shells for lettuce wraps. I went here last year with a friend and LOVED it. I thought the tacos were unique and delicious. So I couldn't wait to take my taco-loving husband there. We went this past weekend for our first night out in months and boy were we disappointed. The good: the drinks were excellent. My smokey margarita in particular was great. We also liked the nachos (but you'd better like cilantro!) The bad: the tacos. They were not good. They were absolutely drowning in the various sauces. The buffalo cauliflower was not buffalo. It was sweet and tangy - more like a teriyaki - and there was so much of the sauce it was just gross. The world is a different place but that's no excuse for such poor service. It's a beautiful Saturday afternoon and I'm craving a taco. Head down main street and hit up Vida Taco. We're seated quickly but it's just as hot inside as out which is rough. We have to wave the waitress down to order. Food comes out all on one plate for 4 adults. That's fine, maybe they'll bring us plates. Hah. No. Even after asking for plates we never received them and after asking for napkins were only given two. What a bummer. That set the bar for the taco - underwhelming at best. I had the Al pastor which had minimal flavor and was slightly overpriced for the size. Al Pastor should be beautiful and flavorful, but the meat tasted like the meat was watered down. Unfortunate as that was, it seemed the other tacos were a hit for my fellow eaters so to each their own. I'm very disappointed with this trip and hope that it was just a bad day. I decided to try out Vida Taco for an early lunch while walking through the streets of Annapolis. It is located in the heart of Main Street and I'm sure it attracts a lot of business based on location alone. However my experience there was far less stellar than I had hoped. The food itself was just fine. I ordered the slightly overpriced chips and pico, and my two friends and I ordered the pulled pork,fried avocado, shrimp and chorizo tacos. We also ordered a lemonade. The tacos were just okay, nothing life changing. The fried avocado taco was rather plain and I had to put a lot of their house made habanero hot sauce on it to give it some flavor. The other ones I tried were flavorful enough on their own, but again nothing to rave about. The real disappointment came when we received our check to find out we had been over charged on one of our tacos and the lemonade. I asked to see the menu again to check the pricing and sure enough they had priced our meal wrong. This is very concerning as a consumer, most customers probably would have paid the bill right then and there but luckily I caught it and called the waitress over to change it right away. She took the bill back and took the extra dollars off the check and had another server deliver it back to us without ever muttering a mere "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" . Overall I give this restaurant a solid 3 stars for the food and 3 stars for service. Apart from the large hiccup at the end I must admit that our service was quick and convenient.
