We started off with ordering margaritas because the special on sunday is $6 for their house margarita. Honestly, the house margaritas are DANGEROUSLY DELICIOUS!! Out of everything, I would come back for the margaritas in a heart beat. For appetizers, we ordered the ceviche. 10/10! Very tasty and great to share for at most 3 people. For tacos, I ordered the fried avocado, ahi tuna, and mahi mahi. You can select which type of shell you want for each taco (corn, flour, or lettuce). Out of the three tacos that I tasted, I liked the mahi mahi the best because of the sweet sauce they drizzled on the taco. Overall, the tacos are average. The only thing I like about the tacos are that the selection are very unique and creative; however, the taste is nothing mind blowing. Came here with a friend for happy hour after work (20% off on Tuesdays) and it was a little crowded but we were still seated outside immediately. The waitress was very nice and the menu had just enough variety but not too many options, so it was perfect for an indecisive person like myself. I ordered the gringo taco and the tinga chicken taco (because I was in the mood for both beef and chicken) and they were pretty good. I have had better tacos but again, not bad by any means and I will also say two was enough because they are not stingy with the meat at all. This is one of the few places that I've eaten at in Annapolis (aside from friend's houses, etc.) and I keep going back instead of trying new places. Guess that means it good! I really enjoy any and all of the seafood tacos. Scallops and mahi are general favorites. For the meat eaters, I've heard rave reviews about the pork belly taco and the duck taco. 3-4 tacos per person are about what it takes to make a satisfying meal. Tacos seem to run $3-5 a piece, so depending on what you get, it can be a relatively affordable meal for the area. Margaritas are also excellent. So.. I've been looking to go to a taco bar. We decided on vida tonight 3/19 . 30 minute wait, which is to be expected. Hostess were great. The waiter , not so much. He seemed every unhappy about his job and just overall not the friendliest person. No, " how are you? How's the food?" So, there's that. We both ordered 3 tacos each, sangria pitcher and corn bites. The tacos were the beef (2), Thai shrimp , Korean pork belly, pinga chicken and one more that I can't seem to remember. The beef was .. strange. It tasted off. My fiance ordered 3 lamb barbacoa and I ordered a carne asada, Korean Pork belly, and Chicken Tinga. We also ordered a queso fondue for an appetizer. Everything was amazing. My favorite was the Korean Pork belly, the pickled onions were so good! The tacos come packed with a lot of meat. My tacos had spice levels on the menu but I didn't think they were too spicy. For someone who lives in downtown Annapolis, I would love to be able to write a positive review, but more so have a good taco spot downtown but neither of those will be the case. I have been here on numerous occasions over the years but after last visit, I won't return. If you're looking for over priced tacos you found the place. They do a good job trying to make them fancy but to only fall short on flavor. Again I'm not here to complain about the price of food because that's not my style. The chips have been stale on multiple visits, and the queso is pretty good, just very small. Margaritas are overpriced for what tastes like almost all juice and not enough alcohol. There isn't a bar to have drinks or wait for a table so if they are busy you have to provide your number for them to call you when a table opens up. I went here for the first time the other night and to me, it was just okay. However, my experience of this place may have been based on my recent visit to another taco bar in Alexandria, VA. I thought the food there was so amazing, so when I ate here, it did not compare. Had I never gone to Don Taco in Alexandria, I may have thought this place was amazing! So my review may be skewed based on that. Either way, definitely take a trip to Don Taco! I had both the guacamole and the queso dip here and while they were okay, the guacamole at Don Taco had much better flavor (and a size small there will get you further, especially with the amount of chips they give you). I tried all 3 vegetarian options here and my favorite was the first one I tried, the Jerk Tempeh. I found the portobello one way too salty and the avocado one was just meh. I definitely was pretty full after the three (or maybe it's because I had appetizers too), but I think this place is pretty pricey. While mine were cheaper because they were vegetarian, the ones my friends got were about $5 each. One single taco for $5?? I can go somewhere else and get two for that price. And the guacamole was $12 here! I expect a much bigger serving for $12. One last thing I want to comment on was our service. When ordering our appetizer I asked our waitress' opinion on whether she thought the guacamole or queso was better or which was more popular and she just shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know. -_- And then she said, "guacamole?" like she was asking a question back. We decided just to go for that and two other friends came and joined us shortly after so they ordered the queso so we could all share both. I personally thought the queso was more flavorful, but if even a little bit of spiciness bothers you, then go for the guacamole. She also wasn't very knowledgable on the spiciness level of the different tacos. 2 of my friends can't handle spice very well and were told that even the items with chili peppers next to them weren't all that spicy. I think there should be a different spiciness level indicated on the menu (like some items have one chili pepper next to it, others have 2 chili peppers, etc). It was confusing because some items had chilies or jalapeno's in it and had no chili pepper next to it, while others had similar ingredients and did have a chili pepper. So my friends made a mistake and ordered one or two that were past their spice comfort level, but they had no way of knowing it'd be spicier than the other ones they picked that were supposedly supposed to be "spicy" too. Do yourself a favor, and please go to Don Taco. Yes, it's a drive, but the atmosphere of Old Town is similar to Annapolis and the tacos there are much better quality and better priced. This is one of the newer, trendier spots on Main Street. Most of the tables are small high tops, and it can get pretty loud inside. I can imagine it would be a fun atmosphere in the evenings. Huge window in the front is great for people watching! They have a good selection of tacos with pretty original fillings and flavors. They are served "a la carte" so that you can try a few different types. While I like this concept, I did feel like the tacos were overpriced ($5 to $8 for one taco). Between two of us we tried the fried avocado, mushroom, calamari, and mahi mahi tacos. All were delicious. I probably could have eaten another, but really couldn't justify the price. We also had a side of guacamole with chips, a house margarita, and the hibiscus sangria. Drinks were good, and if I weren't driving I would have had another. I concur with Dan T! This place deserves zero stars. I'd rather eat a tofurkey taco wrapped in a gym bag left in the back a hot car than than eat here. In the guacamole appetizer (with the tablespoon they provided) the avocados were hard and not ripe. Unacceptable. We asked for a table for 5 adults, we had 4 chairs. Go back to kindergarten. We also came with an infant and they never even provided our honey a drink. He was like, parched and thank god he is a genius and knows how to drink from an adult cup. You are better off going to the beer gardens by the marina and hanging out with drunk people. Several friends and I were drinking our way through Annapolis and one asked me if I would willing to try some "unique" tacos. Well, of course. I'll eat any kind of taco! It was a Saturday and naturally, Vida was packed. I don't think we waited longer than 20 minutes for a table -- which, by the looks of the crowd, was some kind of miracle. We sat down and within minutes had placed our drink order. Their margaritas are mighty tasty, but a little on the pricey side. I ordered two tacos: the octopus (it came highly recommended and for good reason!) and the mahi (also spectacular). There were so many flavors going on at once. I loved both; however, the octopus was the winner. Overall, the service, food and atmosphere were all wonderful. I would suggest this place to anyone in search of Tex Mex. They have a lot of unique tacos sourced locally including the likes of the originals (al pastor, chorizo, chicken, lengua, etc.) but also some unique like shrimp, mahi mahi, ahi tuna, and seared duck breast. You also have the choice of getting corn, flour or lettuce tortillas. By lettuce I mean, it's similar to a lettuce wrap for your taco, which is what I opted for. Many folks order chips and dip (guacamole looked quite fresh!) to share before getting their tacos. The tacos were pretty good and they ranged from $3.50-$7 for each taco and people typically get 2-4 tacos. The ingredients are quite fresh and it was pretty good overall. They have drink and food specials throughout the week. We came on a Sunday so $6 margaritas all day. My biggest qualm about this place was that it was an overall OK experience. Nothing crazy. Very new decor and feel but nothing very authentic or something to really line up for. We came late on Sunday and didn't have to wait for a table but it took nearly 20 minutes for us to get our check and pay. The server took our plates and didn't think to give us the check and took several minutes before finally picking up our payment. It's not efficient but it's nice for you to hang out with friends so long as you get a table soon. It's a small, slow restaurant that has tacos and tequila. Good place .... Searched this place from Yelp ... was awesome. Simple simple menu. Different variations of tacos and few sandwich choices. 3 guys and we smashed 3 apps and 20 different tacos... and they were all delicious. Service was good and 2 waitresses we had were decent. A Must get is the scallops taco....don't leave without getting that....it is phenomenal. The "Purple Drank" if good too. The apps (Cheese quesadilla,Chichharonnes {really just pork rinds and shrimp ceviche) were ok. .... not outta this world but still decent. This restaurant is trying entirely too hard. We popped in on night after seeing such good reviews on here and we left utterly disappointed. The whole atmosphere was like a club scene: dark, loud, crowded. Tacos all seem like they are different but in reality are made of similar ingredients and are incredibly small. Where do I begin when everything I have to say is so negative. I was appalled to enter and walk toward a table only to be scolded by a wanna be server standing behind the counter who told me, "next time you need to check in with me first." Mind you, the place was empty and there were no signs indicating that I needed to check in with the taco police first. We sat ourselves and ordered two drinks which were muddled with cane sugar and food coloring. We couldn't drink them. The food was greasy, not fresh, and tasted disgusting. Hubby got pork al pastor and something else. Just as a note, if you see the spicy symbol know that they mean it. They aren't playing around. Lips on fire. But super delicious. I really needed some milk. The thai beef was great and had all the great thai tastes. The friend avocado was so interesting. I don't know what I expected but it was pretty awesome. With guac to start and two tacos a piece, we were nicely full. They don't skimp. However, what they don't tell you on the menu is that they do have churro balls for dessert. YUM-O. Fantastic new place in DTA. The menu is simple, the wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is super fresh and I felt good about it. It's all farm to table food and you can really taste the freshness. The drinks they make up are also fantastic. The tacos come in a variety - and you have to try at least two or three to get the gist of how good they are making them. They also had an amazing guacamole that kept me wanting more. The flavors and salsas/sauces were unique and complex - divine!!! I will be going back for more - I have to try the rest of the menu. In Annapolis, a new Mexican spot opened up called Vida Taco Bar. The restaurant focuses on tacos made with fresh ingredients. Like any self respecting adult, I love a good authentic taco so when my friend heard about the new taco bar in Annapolis, I was eager to try it out with her. My friends and I each started the meal out with a drink. I don't like margaritas so I went with the Vida Hibiscus Sangria. the sangria consists of pinot blanc, cab sauvignon, fruit lab hibiscus, strawberry & pineapple gomme, mint. It was delicious and not overly sweet. As a group, we decided to share the White Queso dip. The dip was a mix of chihuahua cheese, monterey jack, silver tequila, green chili, yellow onion, tomato and cilantro. I happened to really like this queso, but my friends didn't love the grainy texture of it and found it to be reminiscent of the cheese from a mac-n-cheese. We each decided to order two tacos, and we were all thrilled with our choices. The tacos were made with corn tortillas. I am prefer flour tortillas so I requested my tacos to be prepared on a lettuce wrap. The first of my two tacos was the Lamb Barbacoa. It had braised lamb, shaved cabbage, queso fresco, salsa verde and pickled tomatillo. This taco was spicy and packed with flavor. I would order it again in a heartbeat. My other taco was the Gringo Molé. It was molé braised short ribs, pineapple, shaved cabbage and Mexican crema. This taco was my favorite of the two, it had plenty of the tender shredded short ribs and a nice bit of heat that was tempered by the pineapple and Mexican crema. The Tacos are good. We took our order to go because it was very crowded. They were trying to adhere to social distancing but it was clearly a challenge. We had shrimp, crab, chicken and fish tacos. The shrimp was a bit spicy and salty but still fine. The others were all good. The corn appetizer was our side and tasty. Drinks made to go. I enjoyed the spicy margarita but my husband didn't. For the last few years I've been on a hunt for the best fish tacos and the margaritas. Vida's Taco Bar has some of the best of both of those. Our table ordered vida nachos, the 123 dos margarita, the hibiscus sangria, the purple drank, a carne asada taco, a Pacifica taco, a pork belly taco, an ahi tuna taco, a St Lucifer shrimp taco, and a mahi Maui taco. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. It was loud tonight, but it was a fun atmosphere. The nachos and drinks arrived quickly. The presentation was beautiful and the flavors didn't disappoint! Nachos were ladened with toppings, but not at all soggy. We ordered all of our tacos with corn shells. The carne asada taco was the only one that fell flat for us. I prefer carne asada with more taste of marinade and these had a strong charred flavor I didn't enjoy (similar to burnt ends at a barbecue place - some people love those, they just aren't my favorite). The shrimp and mahi mahi tacos were decidedly good. The three we raved about were the Pacifica (currently my #1 ranked classic fish taco - it was delicious!), the ahi (sushi on a taco - super refreshing) and (our favorite!) the pork belly. The flavors in the pork belly were amazing and I especially loved when I got a bite of mint. So good! I'm really not sure why this restaurant has 4 stars. Normally Yelp reviews don't steer me wrong, but they did this time. Red flag number one: our waiter was definitely overworked. I think he was the only one working in the whole back section. There were definitely a few pissed off customers waiting for their checks. Red flag number two: The menus were unclear on the pricing. Tacos ranged from $3.50-$5.50. It wasn't clear if that was for one taco or for two (it's only for one). The tacos aren't that big or that good that you could potentially pay more than $10 for just two tacos. Red flag number three: The guacamole was $12 and was a tiny scoop of guacamole with a bunch of cilantro thrown on top. (I hate cilantro, so this was not my jam.)
