It came pre-cut, so the kiddo didn't have to handle a huge steak knife to cut it--which was nice. Both came with a generous serving of golden French fries. Fresh cut or frozen, these fries were good! Either a second ramekin of ketchup or a larger one is definitely needed for the amount of fries served. I had the burger. It wasn't fancy--just cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onions--but it was a thick patty with fluffy bun with lots of flavor. It also came with a ton of golden fries. My mom had the BLT that didn't skimp on the pork belly. I wish the stores sold thick cut bacon like that. She said it was delicious. Hubby had the lobster roll. The kids brought the purple potato chips were the neatest thing (they were good, too). The lobster roll was perfectly dressed--not too much and not too skimpy--and tasted surprisingly fresh. This place is a little more upscale than some of the other places we've eaten at this week. We were welcomed as we were--shorts and tees. Other guests were dressed casually, not overly fancy. The adjacent museum was a cool place to visit, too. It housed 3 restored Navy planes that were neat to see. When we arrived, the restaurant was completely full, but it's a very small dining room with only about 10 tables. We only waited about 10 minutes to be seated, and after seeing the great Yelp reviews, we were excited to eat there. There was only one larger party of eight; the rest of the tables were small groups, so nothing suggested the kitchen was overwhelmed. We were seated at 6:10 p.m., ordered drinks, and placed our dinner order shortly afterward. Then...nothing. We waited so long that we ordered a second round of drinks, assuming our food would be arriving any minute. After finishing those drinks, we finally asked about our order around 7:30 p.m.--more than an hour after ordering. The response from the other server was disappointing. Without any real apology or concern, we were simply told it would be another 10-15 minutes because they "had lots of to-go orders." If the kitchen was prioritizing takeout over guests who had been sitting in the dining room for well over an hour, that should have been communicated from the beginning. Then 10 minutes later, to make matters worse, the other server to whom we inquired --not even ours--brought peppermints to the table to "help with our hunger." Whether it was intended as humor or not, it came across as incredibly insensitive given we'd been waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes. At that point, we asked for our bill for the drinks and decided to leave. Unsurprisingly, our food appeared almost immediately after we asked for the check. By then, the experience had completely ruined our appetite. Our actual server did apologize, and I appreciated that, but it was simply too late to salvage the evening. I've eaten at countless restaurants over the years, and I have never experienced anything quite like this. Long waits can happen, but a restaurant should communicate honestly, apologize sincerely, and make guests feel valued. Unfortunately, none of that happened here. We left disappointed and I feel the need to warn others. I felt bad for our actual server (who we tipped normally) because she couldn't help the delay in the kitchen or her coworker's behavior.

We spent the…read moreprior many nights at all the "best" restaurants in town - Wild Sage, Snake River Grill, Glorietta, White Buffalo Club - Gather beat them all out without question. While the previous restaurants mentioned are a bit more upscale, Gather is on the more casual side. It's located right at the base of Snow King mountain so you can look out at the mountain. Most of all - the food here was amazing. We are from NYC and are self proclaimed "foodies" - so we don't say it lightly when we say that the chef/menu here was super eclectic in the best way possible. He infused flavors from all different cuisines from Mediterranean to Korean -- without anything feeling overpoweringly ethnic. The pork buns were a 10 - unlike most restaurants that use a chunk of pork belly, it seemed like they cubed pork from the rib and it tasted more like eating a delicious spare rib from a Chinese restaurant - without the fat you often get in a traditional pork belly bun. The Fresno peppers accented the sweetness of the buns brilliantly. For entree my wife had the elk bolognese which was superb. The papardelle had a perfect chew (maybe made in house?) and the meat / sauce itself was wonderful. The real showstopper here though was the pork ribeye. I've had plenty of good pork chops but this was something completely different. This cut and its preparation was unbelievably tender and juicy - it melts in your mouth like a piece of wagyu steak. I truly did not think you could achieve this level of tenderness from a pork. The flavors around it were incredible and it was genuinely one of the best dishes I've ever had - anywhere - period. Kudos to the chef for this masterful creation. If you even marginally like pork - please do yourself a favor and get this!! Lastly - shout out to ELLA, our server, who was kind and warm and honest and attentive throughout the whole meal. One of the best servers we had on our entire trip - she was amazing! We were very happy with this, to say the least. -Salumi & Formaggi - favorite meat and cheese plate we've ever had. Everything was perfectly selected and paired together on the board. Could not have been more pleased. -Charred broccolini - cooked perfectly to a bright and vibrant color, accompanied by a spicy Calabrian chili aioli. I feel like I always need something green with my dinner and this was an excellent addition to the table. -Rye Cavatelli - great chew on the fresh cavatelli. I watched the PBS spotlight on Glorietta and Wyoming Heritage Grains a few days prior and it made it all the more meaningful to order this dish and taste the hard work and care that goes into the flour and the pasta. And the elk bolognese was wonderful, too, with salty chunks of meat throughout. -Prime NY Strip - if a steak could melt in your mouth. And the additions of the porcini butter and the vincotto pushed it to another level. Spectacular. -Duck breast with creamy polenta, grilled carrots, and balsamic reduction - I have no words. My first bite with a bit of the polenta stopped me dead in my tracks and I had a visceral reaction. A transcendental food moment. It was rich beyond belief; I had no idea duck breast could be like this. Still blown away thinking about it. -Espresso (local coffee!) served with biscotti, and s'mores (graham blondie, smoked ganache, honey meringue), which was absolute bliss and surprisingly not too heavy All in all, a fabulous, romantic, elevated dining experience. Huge thanks to Chef Remle and his whole team. *** One last thing: the service. Food came out in a timely manner and drinks were refilled. But neither of us liked our server. He was simply not engaged with us. We told him it was our 30th wedding anniversary and he offered us free prosecco, but when I said we didn't drink, that was the end of that. We don't expect free things. Really. But it was a bit off-putting that if we said no to free alcohol, specifically, that the offer was entirely retracted. It seemed like he was very distracted by a larger party in his section and was giving them all of his attention, so maybe that is why he seemed disconnected. But he also didn't seem to understand any of my comments or small jokes and we had to repeat ourselves in every interaction. He tried to be "nice" but it came off as disingenuous. We were lucky enough to get last minute seating at the bar - likely because it was a Monday night. We walked here from our hotel (Cloudveil) which only took 5-7 minutes. It's a quaint restaurant that keeps it's mountain town essence as the space is a converted home with an outdoor patio facing the quiet neighborhood street. While the food is elevated it doesn't feel pretentious and maintains a laid back local's feel despite alot of tourists stopping by. While we love cocktails and were impressed with the menu, we were in a wine mood. They have a petite selection of wines by the glass but there's plenty of bottles to choose from. For appetizers we were in the mood for light and refreshing, so the bartender recommended the caesar salad with fresh anchovies. It was perfect for us to share and we loved it. He also mentioned the pasta was house made, so we knew we had to try it. We ordered the fusilli which was so flavorful in spite of being a very simple dish. Our neighbors sitting next to us ordered it first and said it was some of the best they've ever had and they're from NY and have high standards. For our main entree we shared the trout which is from Idaho. I am not that familiar with trout and always forget it's not a white fish but similar to salmon in looks (pink in color) and taste. We really enjoyed it. Lastly, we usually always say no to desert but when in Jackson! The house made panna cotta was perfection - not too sweet. This is a must stop visit for your trip to Jackson.
