We made a reservation on the patio so we could bring our pup. It was her birthday, so obviously we didn't want to leave her behind. Everyone was very friendly to Fuzzy, coming to greet her and wish her a happy birthday. They brought her a doggy treat, but made sure they asked us if she could have it first. We were thankful they asked first, and said she could have it. Then they said the kitchen could make her a special treat- an unseasoned hamburger patty, again, only if we were ok with it. Such a sweet gesture. Fuzzy was so happy with her birthday present. My husband enjoyed his country fried steak and eggs. I enjoyed my harvest panini- it had asparagus, avocado, and red peppers on it. This review involves food delivery from Vic's via DoorDash, so I want to start off fair. First the food we ordered was great, well for the food we received! The pork shoulder was very tasty and actually quite large, which was a good thing (you'll see why below). The salad and desserts were also quite tasty. The one issue was we only received one entree of the two ordered, not due to an error, but because the fish and chips my husband ordered were "not available". So the restaurant KNEW there were unable to fulfill the order. No call to advise us from the restaurant nor DoorDash. I know you are all going to say the restaurant doesn't have our phone number, but they can contact DoorDash and they could have let us know. So it's a bit of a let down when you receive your order and someone's food is missing. What do you do? Place another order and wait another 35-50 minutes? Again, the entree we did receive was enough for the two of us, but that isn't the point. I'd like to suggest some options that I'd like to see ALL DoorDash restaurants consider: 1) reach out to DoorDash so we could place another order at the time you are working on our original order, 2) send an update message on the app that alerts me there is a problem and I should call the restaurant, 3) substitute something "similar" based on the restaurant's choice at no cost (i.e., credit back for what isn't available, and make a goodwill gesture to accept something of your choice at your expense). Taking these steps would certainly make me feel much better, and more likely to order again. Not that I won't order from Vic's again because the food was just that good! We were seated in the far back corner of their outdoor patio due to our stroller. Food came to us hot and was delicious. Gumbo was our absolute favorite, flavorful and perfectly done grits. Fish and chips came in close second, battered and friend to a perfect crisp, not so crunchy it tears apart the roof of your mouth. Omelette was prepared as requested, a dependable meal of large proportion. If we only had room for the ziti, cheesy big mouthfuls, but it inevitably went home for our oldest to eat. An incredible meal from start to finish. Here is what we ordered (and we all loved our dishes)! - chicken parm pasta: extra crunchy and extra cheesy! - pasta puttanesca: a lighter option for enjoying pasta. I've been wanting to try this place for a couple years, having found them on Instagram and seeing all their drool worthy posts of their meals. I happened to be in the area today and took advantage! They do have a small parking lot and surrounding street parking, I grabbed the last spot in the lot today around noon on a Friday. Service was friendly and attentive which was refreshing! We called to be placed on the waitlist and when we got there we waited less than 15 minutes to get seated. We were seated before 12 noon and the restaurant was full of diners for brunch. For drinks we ordered coffee, guava mimosa and sangria. The coffee was robust and a good cup to wake us up. The mimosa was good but the sangria was watered down. I came here on Friday with coworkers and we had a lovely time catching up during lunch. Food was delicious, service was awesome. Parking lot was already full by noon but there was plenty of street parking within the same block. I ordered the honey fried chicken and it was sooo good! I liked that it came with veggies and mashed potatoes, so I didn't feel too guilty about eating fried food. They were very generous with the food portion, it was 3 pieces of fried chicken and a lot of sides. I couldn't finish and packed the last piece of chicken for home. I don't know what happened today, but we left feeling unsatisfied with our experience. The host was nice but our server was cold and disinterested. Was it because we were seated inside? We placed our orders and my husband asked for a side salad. The server returned saying she forgot to ask which type, and he asked for Cesar. A different person brought out our burgers with no mention of my daughter's meal and no salad. We found this brunch located in Martinez, Ca on Instagram. My husband and I decided to try it. The place has minimal parking but if you get here before the lunch rush hour you can find parking in front of the restaurant otherwise park on street. We love this restaurant. Vic's is the best restaurant in a 20 mile radius hands down. My kids and I love to come here in the evening and sit outside and have dinner. The most special time we had here was right after our wedding. We had plans at another restaurant but it was during those really bad storms we recently had and there was no power at the other restaurant. In a panic I just called Vic's to see if they could sit nine people in 10 minutes. You bet they could. And we were there in 10 minutes. Their brunch was great. We had a wonderful post wedding brunch/lunch. The staff was very accommodating and there wasn't a bad meal to be had. Fried Chicken Sandwich, Brisket Sandwich, Egg Benny, all fabulous. Came here for an early dinner on a Saturday evening. Plenty of tables at 5pm. We enjoyed the shaded outdoor seating. At the suggestion of our server, we had the brussel sprouts and cheese toast for appetizers. I don't usually like brussel sprouts in general but these were delicious. Grilled, I think, tossed with bacon crumbles, apple slices, and a sweet balsamic vinegar glaze. Highly recommend the brussel sprouts! The cheese toast was a bit meh in comparison. I didn't think the baguette slices were toasted quite enough, and the amount of cheese should have been increased for the ratio of the bread. There were 3 cheeses, 2 were melted and one was sliced in thin shards on top. The flavor of the sliced one didn't meld well with the other 2, in my opinion. On its own, it was great, but together it gave a a gamey, kind of "dirty" flavor. I'd pass on this one. For the entree, we had the honey fried chicken, which came with mashed potatoes and some steamed dressed kale on the side. I'm not a fan of kale either but I enjoyed this serving. The chicken was fried to perfection. Unfortunately the chicken itself was a bit bland. I think they used chicken breasts so that's to be expected. If they brined it first, the dish would be perfect. Hubs had the pasta with chicken parmesan, which he loved. The only complaint again was the blandness of the actual chicken breast. Portions are almost ridiculously ginormous! Each dish, even the appetizers, could have fed 3-4 people. My husband and I couldn't even finish half of our meal. We maybe finished 1/3. Watching the waiter bring out other people's orders, I could see that ALL their dishes are huge! Even the salads. My god, I've never seen a salad so stacked! We paid around $85 before tip and had enough leftovers for at least 4 more servings Overall, flavors were 4 stars. Value was absolutely 5 stars. And customer service was also 5 stars.
