You walk in, select your BBQ meats, and then choose your sides. We ordered 1 lb of brisket, corn on the cob, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The portions were generous and more than enough food for the two of us! Once you get your food, just grab an open table and enjoy. They have plenty of BBQ sauces and condiments available so you can customize everything to your liking. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of TVs showing college football games today, making it a great place to grab some BBQ and catch a game. Definitely worth stopping by if you're craving BBQ.

They They cut it right there and slap it on paper and put it on a tray. There also prime rib on weekends and lots of other options too. Then you pick out some sides. I always go with the Mac & Cheese and green beans & bacon. Deserts are plentiful and the banana pudding seems most popular, but I haven't tried it yet. Grab a seat at one of the long picnic tables or at the bar. Lots of sauces and breads to go with your bbq. Staff is all around and helpful, but won't bother you. They are polite and friendly. I usually head to the bar. There's often a game on, but it's not loud. Often I strike up a conversation with a new friend. Then head back to the hotel. Trust me, Great place! Head on over.

Make a reservation if you have a large party or are on a tighter schedule. It's a bit loud for those seated in the lobby/entrance area, but totes a vibe. For food, we ordered the blackened catfish, brisket burnt ends quesadillas, and harvest bowl to share. Everything was delicious and served quickly, even with the aforementioned dinner rush. 10/10 would order the same items again. I was so appreciative of the server splitting the entree over two plates without us asking. Did I mention the complimentary popcorn and cornbread? Twas a FEAST. I'm already thinking about the next time we're going back! If not for Moonshine, definitely for the speakeasy downstairs.

We arrived and in a few minutes we were seated at a table and immediately given water in mason jars and asked for our drink order. I opted just got an Arnold Palmer but the drink menu had some cute cocktails and mocktails, as well as a nice selection of beer and wine. Instead of bread, our server brought us a basket of seasoned popcorn. The popcorn had almost like a Cajun flair, but it wasn't spicy. It reminded me of the Ground Round chain from when I was a little girl. We decided to try the corndog shrimp appetizer. I couldn't decide on an entree because everything looked so good, so I did the Parmesan chicken and my coworker did the steak salad. The shrimp arrived so quickly with four large pieces of shrimp on a stick wrapped in corn dog batter and fried to a golden brown, with a blueberry mustard dipping sauce. The shrimp were delicious and while I didn't get much of the blueberry in the mustard, I enjoyed the sweetness it provided. My Parmesan chicken was a crispy and juicy breaded chicken cutlet with a lemon cream, artichoke hearts, and what appeared to be prosciutto on top. It was served with a side of pesto couscous with grape tomatoes and cucumbers. I wish I had ordered mashed potatoes on the side, because I wanted something to soak up the lemon cream sauce, which was the highlight of the chicken. We also were served 3 mini cornbread muffins with honey butter. My coworker said the salad was just okay, and was a little on the small side. The desserts were definitely a MUST and if you visit Moonshine and don't save room for the Espresso Brownie or the Peanut Butter Pie, you're going to regret it. The brownie was so fudgey and warm and served with ice cream. It was decadent. The peanut butter pie was the biggest slab of PB pie I've ever had with a thick Oreo crust. I wish I had someone with me to share it, it was huge. Overall, if I lived in the area I would definitely be back to try other things.

Austin Restaurant Week takes place from August 28th through September 13th. First stop...Rollin Smoke BBQ, located in the Chalmers building, which filled with a crowd of people. I ordered a pull pork sandwich, mac-n-cheese and banana pudding. The pulled pork sandwich was huge, which I shared with the hubs. Quite honestly, I was full after eating 1/4 of the sandwich, which had cabbage, pickles and of course the pork (not the typical stringy pork but chunks of pork bursting with smokey flavor). The mac-n-cheese was substantial with cheese filled shell pasta with a hint of a smokey flavor. So yummy...Well, I might have eaten "all" the banana pudding. This was not your typical banana pudding (dense and flavorful). I certainly understand why they run out of this dessert. Service was superb! Great dining experience...

I order a very nice lite afternoon snack, 1/2 lb of Prime Pork Belly Burnt Ends, 1 Pork Sparerib, and a side of Boozy Brussels. The Prime Pork Belly Burnt Ends which are tossed in bourbon sauce and smoked again for a tender meat candy-like finish which was quite to the contrary, not overbearingly sweet, just a hint. The first time that I went to Rollin' Smoke, I wanted to order the Pork Spareribs but they weren't available so that's when I was introduced to the Pork Belly Burnt ends so today, I ordered just 1 Pork Sparerib today which was good but not great, sadly. I thoroughly enjoyed the Boozy Brussel Sprouts which were smoked and flashed fried, a balsamic glaze with whiskey soaked raisins and parmesan. I am definitely returning to check out the Half Chicken Plate with 2 small sides that I eyeballed.

It wasn't too salty which I was scared of with many BBQ dishes. I paired it with their waffle fries and it was great. I should've gotten another one! Ambiance & reservations 5/5: We stayed downtown and getting there was a breeze. I'd recommend getting reservations just in case since it was the weekend. Service 3/5: the server was sweet but she took awhile to get back with us. We waited awhile for the BBQ (which happens at most BBQ), waited 30-40 min for her to come pick up the check, and then waited another 30-40 min for her to come back with our checks. Overall I'd recommend for the food but make sure you don't have anything planned right after!

Walk-in wait was 45 min but we opted for bar seating on got lucky right away. The bar offers a good selection of beers on tap and they have a separate whiskey/bourbon drink menu. We ordered the BBQ (of course) pork ribs and Texas brisket. The brisket was noticeably dry. Fortunately, they give you cute glass bottles of BBQ sauce, hot sauce and a mustard blend. The country style pork ribs are fantastic - tender to the bone, succulent with flavors, but not a rub that's overwhelming on the palate. There's not much else - the scant amount of coleslaw is lacking, and even though we ordered two entrees, we received only one dinner role. I asked for extra bread and got charged $4 for two more rolls which is annoying and also a poor business practice. It's also confusing how you order two things for two different people and it all ends up on the same plate. And then they asked if we were sharing? The value simply isn't here - total bill ended up being $75 before tax and tip. For three ribs and overdone brisket. I suppose there were some onion rings and pickles in there as well. I'm trying another place next time. That's all.
