I stumbled upon the Simpson's BBQ food truck in the Walmart (9500 S IH 35 location) parking lot. Walmart was celebrating the completion of the store's remodeling and had vendors providing free products. Simpson's BBQ was one of those vendors, and the best in my opinion! They were offering free brisket tacos, so I got in line immediately. There was a longish line, but it moved quickly due to the server's speed. When I got to the truck window, he handed out the brisket taco wrapped in foil and offered a drink. I chose a Diet Coke. It was chilled...a refreshing drink after standing outside in the sun. The brisket was moist and had no BBQ sauce..:the way I like it! I'm a purist when it comes to brisket. Review is for Simpson's BBQ Food Truck, not the actual location if they have one. They were at the HEB Symphony with a bunch of other food trucks. The line was 30+ people deep when we got our food. My partner really wanted reasonably priced barbecue, so here we waited. You can estimate about 1.5-2 minute wait per person (took us about 30 minutes with 20ish people). The prices are very reasonable, but you get what you pay for. The nachos had barely any meat and the meat was dry. It was a respectable amount of nachos that were a good snack or light meal, though, and they were better priced than other food trucks. I'd go for two hot dogs over nachos next time if I wanted to have a meal. An extra star for the nice lady collecting ticket numbers that was patient in explaining customization options while waiting, including lemonade flavors. read more

We went to Simpson's BBQ for tacos, but what we received were two tickets to flavor town! The meat was fresh, hot, and juicy, while the toppings were fresh, zesty, and delicious! Portions and meat-to-toppings ratio were a good 50/50 (which is perfect!) The folks in the truck were very friendly and helpful when it came time to order, and made ordering for the first time easy and enjoyable! We will definitely be back! read more

Honestly some of the best BBQ and Nicest people ever! We were in the area, and I wanted to find a bbq place. My fellow yelpers steered us in the right direction. They are located in a cute little food truck court. I had a hard time deciding, but we finally decided to share the 3 meat platter. We ordered it with sausage, brisket, and ribs. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is amazing! It has just a little kick. For the sides we had the potato salad and the beans. The owners were friendly and checked on us. They even do larger orders if you are having a special occasion. Definitely support this business! Your belly will thank you. read more

Simpson's BBQ food truck came to my apartment complex yesterday. After reading their reviews, I was excited to try their food. I received a text that my order was ready. When I arrived, I was told that my order was not ready and that those text messages are auto generated. O-K, noted. There seemed to be some sort of bad energy going on in that truck because nobody was smiling and I could feel tension from them. When I got home and was ready to eat my brisket, I was so disappointed! The meat was very dry and the fat on the meat was gross! Really gross. It looked like it had been cooked improperly. I tried to eat it but could not. It had a strange flavor as if it was cooked in an oven with liquid smoke or something. I am not sure what was going on with them, perhaps it was a bad day. Let me start by saying my wife and I LOVE BBQ. We have tried most of the BBQ places within 50 mile radius of our home. Most of the good ones require a little driving to get there. Sure there are ones that are closer but most aren't that great. Simpson's BBQ moved on down the street from us last weekend and we decided to give them a try. We were not disappointed. We decided to try a little of everything. We ordered some moist brisket, smoked turkey, a link if both kinds of sausage, pulled pork and one of each of the 3 sides. Granted it was more good than the 4 of us could eat but fortunately we like left overs :-). The quality was great. I usually won't order pulled pork from a BBQ place. I'm more of a brisket and sausage person. Let me say that I am glad I tried it. It was great! The brisket was tasty and so was the sausage. I was a little disappointed that both kinds of sausage had some spice but they were both good. The turkey was super moist and flavorful as well. Nothing disappointed. All of the sides were good too. The coleslaw was not the usual mayo based type you'd get. It has a nice vinegar base to it. To top everything off, it's a father and son owned/operated establishment. Both very nice guys. Outstanding​ BBQ! Homemade sauce is different, but addictive. Moist with beautiful bark on the brisket; Cheddar jalepeno sausage was excellent. These guys beat Salt Lick by a mile! No waiting around either! The downside is that they are only open on Friday and Saturday! read more

WOW! These boys know how to BBQ! We stopped by the new Nutty Brown food truck court yesterday. These guys are so friendly and polite. I thought I was not in the mood for heavy, smoked meats, so I went over to order a vegetable enchilada at the Mexican truck next door (horrible, by the way). I ended up tossing my horrible Mexican to eat off my husband and daughter's plates. Ribs, brisket sandwich and a massive Neanderthal-sized beef rib. We came upon thus place after a soccer game. I just wanted to go home but my husband insisted we try it, GLAD HE DOESN'T LISTEN TO ME. Amazing food, that brisket taco was everything, not your ordinary brisket sandwich done in such a flavorful creative manner. AND THA SAUCE THAT SAUCE, ( that's what I'd call it) i need it bottled shipped so i can put it on everything. Went to the grand opening Saturday February 25th got 1/4 lb brisket & 1/4 lb cheddar jalapeño sausage both were excellent my wife ordered the chopped beef sandwich she really enjoyed it, it wasn't your normal fat and left over brisket He actually cut it off the brisket and chopped it up in front of us and put it on an artisan bun so we know it wasn't leftovers soaked in sauce for who knows how long. Larry and his family are great folks and serve the kind of home made food they would want to be served. I will definitely be back. read more

First time here, so maybe it was an off day, but the brisket was undercooked to the point that the fat hadn't rendered, leaving it tough and chewy. There was no mellowness to the smoke, either. The pulled pork tacos are amazing - a tantalizing blend of pork, pico de gallo and their awesome sauce. The potato salad is very tasty and obviously homemade. Since opening up at the food court on Bliss Spiller Rd, Simpson's BBQ has been my favorite BBQ place. I have been going there almost every Friday. I have had the sliced brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, sausage wrap, and the brisket chili. All are great and plentiful. Larry, Larry Jr and the boss are really nice folks and make sure everything is okay with your food. I would recommend Simpson's BBQ if you are looking for great food.
