Foley's had BETTER PRICE than the Supermarket!…read more I decided to buy a Fix-A-Flat tire repair product for my son (who had a flat the week before) I went to my local supermarket, found Fix-A-Flat priced at $14, but figured Foley's might have it...and I like to patronize local businesses when possible. Turned out it was $12, two dollars cheaper, at Foley's, but I realized something else: Auto care, tools, and garden supplies are bread-and-butter to a hardware store, while they're just convenience items for a supermarket: stores like Foley's have to be well-stocked, and have knowledgeable staff who can answer questions. So now I will make Foley's my first choice for tools, because they know them best. But don't worry, supermarkets in Larchmont and Mamaroneck: If Foley's starts selling carrots and cauliflowers, I'll still buy them from you.

The event was very well organized, and the staff were friendly, patient, and helpful with the children. Everything was provided--wood pieces, hammers, nails, screwdrivers, paint, and all the other materials needed to complete the project. Best of all, the workshop is completely free. The projects are fun, hands-on, and a great way for kids to build confidence and creativity. These workshops are offered on a monthly basis, making them a wonderful activity for families. Each month it's a different project. The project for June was a goalie game. The kit includes a cute pin and certificate as well. It's super cute. You have to sign up online through the Home Depot website. Highly recommend!

Jenna is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and has great tips and tricks for the experienced cook and patience for those of us who struggle to use a stove knob. Her recipes are prepared beforehand based on your tastes and are really healthy, delicious, and easy to prepare. I felt like I was on a cooking show. Her kitchen is professional and well-stocked with tools. She is a great conversationalist and keeps the session moving at the right pace, based on the meals you are preparing. This was worth every penny and I highly recommend Cook Learn Live, and Jenna, specifically.

The class was not only educational, it was a lot of fun, and definitely a great reprieve from my typical Sunday afternoons spent studying in front of a computer. Jenna did a great job of overseeing the prepping and cooking of the four dishes we had on the menu for the night. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to manage a kitchen full of amateur chefs (half of whom rarely cook at home)...but somehow she managed to do it with grace! Jenna was extremely patient with and open to all of our questions as well. In particular, I thought she did a great job of incorporating the 'why' behind her answers to questions like: What ingredients do you always have on hand? How do you know which spices go well together? What goes into a vegetable stock? I really appreciated how Jenna tailored the class specifically for a group of grad students, focusing on: increasing the nutritional value of our meals, saving time in the kitchen, and all the while cutting down on costs. Three things that I know I DEFINITELY need to do more of! I walked away from the class with an arsenal of new cooking tips, a full belly (plus a few containers of leftovers), and a packet of recipes from the class. Three hours very, very well spent! Thanks for all of your cooking tips, Jenna! For anyone interested in learning how to eat healthier or to be more effective in the kitchen, I would highly, highly recommend her classes!

Still though, every time I'm here I feel so inspired to do...*something* culinary with what they sell. Now, while you can get a number of appliances, pots, pans, cookbooks, spices, etc. here, Willams-Sonoma holds a special place in my heart for one reason: their Moravian Ginger Spice Cookies. These were a favorite of my grandma, and every holiday season when W-S sells them I used to give her a tin for Christmas. Since she passed, I've kept the tradition alive and still buy a tin every year for my family and I to enjoy. Diving into these cookies - they're really special. In addition to the emotional connection I have to them, they're just really good; super thin (don't cut your mouth), nice and crispy, and big ginger taste. I can easily eat like 20 of them in one sitting. It's always nice to browse Williams-Sonoma, you never really know what you'll find (like Target, but not). Catch me there this holiday season to pick up some cookies.

Check out the large cinnamon sticks & fresh Tamarind pods. Did you know that Tamarind pulp is a natural metal polish ? Instead of using chemicals, utensils can be polished with Tamarind. I'm happy I found this market. The lines tend to be a little long, but worth the wait. The prices are good. The parking situation isn't great - you have to pay for metered spots out front. But if you are willing to walk a little, free parking is available.
