    vegetable hand roll
    Alexa F.

A group of four of us participated in a cooking class here back in December. It was on a Tuesday evening and we actually wound up unintentionally having a private class, seeing as no one else had signed up. I believe our instructor's name was James. He was funny, charismatic and informative. We took the Secrets of Great Sushi Class where learned how to make sushi rolls such as vegetable hand rolls, shrimp tempura rolls & spicy tuna rolls. Learning how to make sushi is always something I've wanted to do and I'm glad to finally have had the opportunity to try it. The class taught us little tips and tricks like how to tempura fry shrimp (carbonation from seltzer, who knew?), making of spicy mayo (it's literally kewpie mayo & siracha to taste? brilliant). I don't know how soon I'll be making sushi on my own at home, I think I'll leave it up to the professionals for now. This was a well enjoyed night out learning a new skill. Looking forward to taking another cooking class again here in the hopefully not so distant future!

Jenna is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and has great tips and tricks for the experienced cook and patience for those of us who struggle to use a stove knob. Her recipes are prepared beforehand based on your tastes and are really healthy, delicious, and easy to prepare. I felt like I was on a cooking show. Her kitchen is professional and well-stocked with tools. She is a great conversationalist and keeps the session moving at the right pace, based on the meals you are preparing. This was worth every penny and I highly recommend Cook Learn Live, and Jenna, specifically.

Jenna is wonderful! Working with her was such a treat!…read more My school sponsored a group of us to attend one of her cooking classes, and it was a fantastic experience. The class was not only educational, it was a lot of fun, and definitely a great reprieve from my typical Sunday afternoons spent studying in front of a computer. Jenna did a great job of overseeing the prepping and cooking of the four dishes we had on the menu for the night. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to manage a kitchen full of amateur chefs (half of whom rarely cook at home)...but somehow she managed to do it with grace! Jenna was extremely patient with and open to all of our questions as well. In particular, I thought she did a great job of incorporating the 'why' behind her answers to questions like: What ingredients do you always have on hand? How do you know which spices go well together? What goes into a vegetable stock? I really appreciated how Jenna tailored the class specifically for a group of grad students, focusing on: increasing the nutritional value of our meals, saving time in the kitchen, and all the while cutting down on costs. Three things that I know I DEFINITELY need to do more of! I walked away from the class with an arsenal of new cooking tips, a full belly (plus a few containers of leftovers), and a packet of recipes from the class. Three hours very, very well spent! Thanks for all of your cooking tips, Jenna! For anyone interested in learning how to eat healthier or to be more effective in the kitchen, I would highly, highly recommend her classes!

For small home decor accessories like small end tables, benches and accent pieces, I go to Home Sense, HomeGoods, etc. Hell- I even go to thrifts stores to find "that" unique piece. But there's a difference between ridiculous and affordable. The first of the two, is where Safavieh is at. On Central Ave in Hartsdale, Safavieh has plenty to choose from to decorate your living room, family room and bedroom and they've been doing so for a long time. I recently found a Safavieh brand, small 2x4 rug for my galley kitchen at on online store but tried my luck here and see if they have that style so I can whisk it away. Only available rugs are large Persian area ones with the exception of just 2 small rugs in colors I wasn't going for. I mentioned to the folks here I was in the market for a specific small size and a particular color rug. While the service was professional, I honestly felt that because I didn't drain my bank account with any of their items, tone and body language changed towards the end and were way off. But to their benefit, rugs are quality and these folks have a lot of daring pieces. Even the items that have cracks or marks on them, were outrageously priced.
