Crate & Barrel has been in my periphery forever. I'm almost certain that it's been in The Westchester Mall since it opened back in the 90s, however I was never in the market to make a purchase here. As I got older, though, I came to appreciate their merchandise and would browse every once in a while in passing. It wasn't until recently, though, when I needed to make a purchase that I actually became a customer. Crate & Barrel sells upscale housewares - including furniture, kitchenware, art, and storage pieces. A family member is getting married soon, and registered here so I decided to make my way over to pick up my gift. The store is one of the larger ones in the mall - taking up two floors with easy access within the store to flow between them. I tried finding the gift I wanted to purchase on my own but couldn't seem to find it on display. Soon after, I was approached by an employee who was able to help me get one from their stock; she also ensured the item was marked as purchased on the registry. Overall, I had a pretty seamless experience at Crate & Barrel. It's out of my price range to be a regular shopper here, but perhaps one day. read more

You can find this store within the Westchester mall. It has really nice and modern home items. The furniture and decorations look high quality, but everything is pretty expensive. The store is clean and organized, which makes it easy to shop. A lot of items are color coordinated which makes designing a room very helpful. They sell living room furniture, dining room furniture, patio furniture and lots of decor. It has two floors. I was greeted warmly by the cashier who assisted me with obtaining a box for the bridal shower gift I ordered for my friend online. Overall, it's a good place to go if you're looking for stylish stuff, but it might not fit everyone's budget. read more

We went it at 8:30 pm to buy plates and glasses (sorry). Skye took us to all the plate and glass variations that we're interested in. Honestly, I would look at all the plates and get overwhelmed, but she helped me narrow down the choices quickly. What I liked was that she tied in my personal needs by relating it to her household. I didn't think we could buy so much in such a short amount of time, but we did. I appreciate the help and am thankful that she did not leave us to flounder in a sea of plates and glasses. read more

I cqme in today to purchase some Christmas gifts for my family. I found a nice throw which was along a back wall which was all marked 20% off. which I decided to get. While checking out the saleswoman asked if it was on sale, to which I replied "yes it was marked 20% off.". She called over the radio to the woman upstairs who confirmed the sale price. - No issues. Well this is when another young woman came up to me and asked me to "take a walk with her", in order to prove the item was on sale. Excuse me?? Her attitude was so smug, acting like I was a liar with a big grin on her face. I told her where to look, as it was upstairs and I have a knee injury but she insisted that I went up with her... So I did, and showed her the wall of at least ten red colored 20% off tags. "Well where did you get it from?" She asked as we stood in from of the wall. She made me walk and point to exactly the spot were I pulled it from like i was trying to scam! All while being extremely smug, and "polite". She then ripped the tag off and walked it down stairs where she was she would "honor" the Sale. Well excuse me, but it's marked on sale, why wouldn't you honor it??? The older women behind the sales counter were fantastic and I appreciated their help, but the youbg manager was so unprofessional. Above and beyond service from Michael Chan. Extremely efficient and helpful with a big furniture order and we wanted to maximize our benefits with the Crate & Barrel rewards. He knows the products well and helped us place a complicated order and ensured we were able to get everything we needed for delivery to a new building. Love the staff and the furniture! I have purchased a number of items there and have been happy with everything! Michael is always so helpful! I only had one issue the number of times I went there. When I was picking up a floor model they loaded and gave me the wrong item and made me come back even when I had rented a vehicle to bring it. If I could give them NO STARS I would. I purchased several items, including a comforter and matching shams. The charged my credit card over 600 dollars and the order was placed. a few days later I recieve the shams and a credit on my card for the comforter. I dont want the shams without the comforter. I call customer service. they put me on hold for 50 minutes! (my entire lunch hour). They say they will email me a return label for the shams. No such email arrived. They said they "ran out" of the comforters. I told them I would not have ordered the matching shams if the comforter wasn't available. she said no problem. sooooo, still no label. stuck with 80 shams that are useless. I am so frustrated. they have done nothing but waste my time read more

I just had the worst delivery experience with delivery guys. They were very unprofessional from the beginning to the end. The entire experience was negative. Plus it made waste my time by holding on the phone with customer service to file a complaint. After paying $4000 for carpets, that type of behavior exhibited by delivery people is unacceptable. read more

Great items, love the setup here. Even better is the fact that it's always changing. We bought their dishware, and though it's a bit pricey, it lasts... ...so long as you don't accidentally drop a bowl of cereal before your first cup of coffee. But aside from that, everything lasts! We've bought little rice bowls and wooden chopsticks here, and though we don't eat enough rice in those bowls, they're the perfect portion for cereal in the morning and definitely help with the portion control. I love the back area where all the kitchen and patio stuff are located. I always wish I could buy everything there, but there's not enough room in my house for it all, and I definitely don't have that kind of money to spend, either. They had the Nespresso machine on display a while back and a girl was making samples. WHY does it have to be so expensive? That was some of the best coffee I ever had. Ever. Once I'm living on my own and have lots of money, you can believe that I'll be buying this machine. read more

It's a typical Crate and Barrel, with all the same stuff you see at every branch and online. It's a bit smaller than the one on Broadway and Houston, so if you are looking for tons of options that one may be a better choice. Also, the branch in the city seems to have better sales and clearance items. Staff was helpful and friendly when we had questions. Good experience. read more

while at the the westchester mall in white plains one of my stops was at crate and barrel which was a smart move on my part as i found a useful booze display/storage table. its a one level shop with wall to wall of really cool stuff for every room in your home or apt and plenty of accessories as well . a bit pricey but stuff seems very durable and will last a while without falling apart. everything is displayed in plain view and the sales lady was very helpful with my purchase which also included acessories for wine and other spirits . i wanted a few more pieces of furniture including a really nice table and lounge like mini sofa but i better leave now or i will go crazy with stuff i dont have room for. read more

Not a good experience with the delivery of my dining table. Today was a 5th attempt to replace my damaged dining table ( with this delivery I was told by Jaqui from the store that a supervisor at the warehouse would inspect to make sure there was no damage to the new table -obviously didn't inspect, because the replacement dining table was damaged- I refused delivery.) I spent over $8000 at this store and even speaking to different staff at the store of the problem-it wasn't a good customer service experience. The only upside was the salesperson Jill H, who I was working with- was excellent in assisting me with furniture ideas in furnishing my bedroom & dining room. Will not shop there again!! read more

I would give this store, particularly the white plains location, a zero if I could. We had an issue with our couch and customer service continually bounced us around from one rude person to another without resolving our issue. I would NOT buy anything from this corporation again. read more

Update. After buying 2 entire living rooms sets and getting two couches with damaged cushions - (which I ended up repairing and cleaning myself) because I spent an entire year trying to get it resolved - they finally called me and offered to refund me my shipping fee - which was $99. This is a HORRIBLE company. I am so sorry I bought anything from them. read more

I love that there is a Crate & Barrel in The Westchester, but I do have one complaint about this location -- the two times we've been in, at least one item, if not more, that we are trying to purchase is on display but not in stock. I realize that this happens every once in a while, but so far it's been the norm rather than the exception at this particular C&B. Still, C&B has some great deals on pretty housewares, so I'll leave them at 3 stars for now. read more

I've been to the Crate and Barrel at the Westchester on a few occasions. The downside is the parking fee the mall charges and unfortunately Crate and Barrel does not offer parking validation. For the price of the items they sell you would think they would offer validation with a purchase. I've ordered items from their website and opted for the ship to store option because of their exorbitant shipping fees. If I was able to find the product I was looking for elsewhere I would have purchased it from another store. Most online stores offer free shipping with a $50 purchase. However, I ordered two small items which totaled over $50 and C&B was charging a $10 shipping fee. To avoid the shipping fee I went to the store to pick up the items. They had my items waiting for me in a bag and the sales clerk was helpful but specifically driving to the store just to pick up these two items was a bit of a hassle. Won't be online shopping at C&B if I can help it. read more

Just got off the phone with Frances (?) at Crate and Barrel white plains location and I have to say what a condescending and disrespectful salesperson she was. I placed my order online to have them delivered to the store so I can have them earlier than having them to ship to my house. When inquiring about its whereabouts or the estimated arrival time of my items, all I got from her was "well it is in-transit". When I asked more details about its exact ETA or whether all of my orders are coming in at the same time or at a different time frame and/or when and how I would be informed about it, all she can repeat back to me in the most condescending manner was ""well it is in-transit". I do like Crate and Barrel products and shopped in NYC location for many many years but clearly a person like her shouldn't be working at the retail shops. read more

I love C&B's products and even registered at their store a few years ago. However, I encountered some HORRIFIC customer service today while purchasing something from a registry as a gift for someone else. I purchased gifts from a registry and also purchased other items, one as a gift and one for myself. I told the cashier which items were on the registry and that others weren't. Sure enough I come home and check that the gift items were fulfilled on the registry and they were, but the other items I purchased were ADDED onto her registry, and marked as fulfilled! So now she can see another gift I bought her and something I bought for myself! As can anyone else who looks at her registry! Currently on the phone with the 4th person from C&B who has been the nastiest of all (Danielle) and everyone is telling me it can't be fixed. Why should the bride wonder where these items came from? Why should she be inconvenienced and why should I? How dare you tell me, "This happens all the time." When I ask you what would you tell the bride if she called you wondering how dare you say, "I would tell her I don't know." FIX YOUR SYSTEM!!! Didn't happen when I purchased stuff from a registry at Bed Bath the other day plus other items. Thank you to Felicia in Customer Service! So sweet and fixed the problem!! read more

I love the style and look of Crate and Barrel, but don't judge it by it's appearance. Some couches are just not comfortable, but they look sleek and modern. I did purchase my bed frame and headboard from C & B...and I love it. It's sexy as hell, well, as much as a headboard can be sexy. A extremely nice woman named Holly helped me out and she was super friendly and informative. My only complaint isn't about Crate and Barrel, but the pretentious customers that I tend to run into routinely while shopping. read more

Very bad experience here. Bought a couch at the store. Called the next day to confirm the box size and delivery insurance info. Every person I talked to told me something different. Around the fifth call on the fourth day the person says. "oh yeah, I see that you are having the delivery on Tuesday, but we don't actually don't have that item in stock right now and it won't be available for a month an a half". Very frustrating. I called to inquire about fabric (my GSD nibbled my arena rest) and asked for the furniture department. As no associate was available, Ashley asked if she could help. I explained I bought my couch in LA but had it delivered to my address in westchester. She took time to look up my transaction but couldn't find my fabric code but said she would research thru company archives. I found my receipt and called her back with order info. She was able to assist and even called me back to let me know that ordering fabric for both arm rests would only be a few dollars more. She didn't have to do that and the store was about to close. I appreciated her assistance but also the fact that she was looking out for my best interests. read more

This is probably one of the biggest Crate and Barrels I've ever been to. It's huge and all on one floor (vs the NYC location). Lots of stuff/fun to explore. read more
