I wish they offer their adult workshops year-round. Also wish they offer Zoom classes for adults and would hold some special events more often. Most of their classes are focused towards children, not adults. They should do more to inspire adult attendance IMO. I've had a few workshops cancelled due to low enrollment, which is disappointing but to be fair, I've had this happen with other art schools too. They aren't always consistent with responding to emails so it's best to call if you have questions. I've also noticed inconsistencies on their schedule/calendars. My favorite teachers are Theresa Bates and Roy Lerner. I highly recommend (both passionate about teaching) and to learn about mixed media, which Theresa also sometimes teaches. Mixed media has changed my life in some of the most spectacular ways!

The class doesn't simply introduce little ones to music, but incorporates many facets of learning development as well. My daughter was the youngest one in the class and even though she doesn't walk, still loved the class. I am signing her up for the summer session. They also had a cute little food area where we were able to sit and have lunch, third and fourth, while some fourth and fifth played. That's how we were all able to enjoy the experience of not much to do but explore, build and play. I personally think that a younger crowd would love to spend time here, I frequently saw smaller children here brought by babysitters or parents. Oh and can't forget, after exploring you can go to the area of where they have a store for making many different purchases of legos and other knickknacks. Adam Wallach and Ken Barer do an incredible job of running the camp, marketing it, communicating with parents, rallying kids for weekly spirit days -- and generally rockin' it. The kids swim twice day and are given just the right amount of freedom for their age. My guy was thrilled to ride his bike around on trails independently (without a grownup following closely) in mountain biking. Picky eater though he is, he seems to eat decently well, carbo-loading every day at lunch. Kids get occasional treats like fruit sushi, which the kids get to make themselves, trips to an ice cream truck, and cold (not-too-unhealthy) popsicles in the afternoon. Our guy kept telling us about eating fresh strawberries at lunchtime that were picked, he said, from the camp's own strawberry patch. (I can't verify this claim; it did seem like it'd take an improbably long growing season and an awfully, awfully large patch of strawberries to supply all those hungry kids for the summer.) Counselors keep the kids hydrated in the heat, buses are shockingly timely (MTA should take note!). Bus counselors do a great job of communicating bus arrival times. Activities are varied and interesting, including options like "mining," water works, pottery, archery, crafts, farming(!), all manner of sports (tennis, soccer, baseball, etc..) -- and there is always something new going on. My guy was excited to go from the moment he woke up each morning. Yes, the camp is guilty of blatant cultural appropriation -- but we get that at this point, there's monetary value in the branding that makes change difficult. At least they're changing the logo in coming years. We'd be thrilled if they actually taught the kids a bit about the tribes of the Haudenosaunee / Iroquois Confederacy that the groups are named after. (Our son reports that there is some sort of small "museum" on the grounds with a few artifacts found on-site.) We did some of our own research. All in all a fabulous, fun way to spend the summer. Our guy is counting the years until he gets to be a counselor himself.

Came here for the first time to attend my nieces high school graduation. I watched each child be greeted with kind-hearted attention by the front office staff. The ceremony was nothing short of amazing, a beautiful tear jerker and humbling experience to see all of these wonderfully made children set & achieve their own uniquely individual goals. The mayor of the city (Yonkers) took time out of his day, attended and presented the graduates with their diplomas. Very well put together program and a moving experience for all. Congrats graduates and excellent job to the staff.

I visited the school and I was excited because the school was in a good building and it had everything that my son needed. When my son first started he was supposed to have a 1 on 1 aid and when I checked in a few times he didn't , it took the school some time but they finally hired a local young lady to work with him with in a few weeks even though they knew months in advance that he was starting. My biggest disappointment was my son coming home filthy with dried up food on his face that had probably been there since lunch that no one bothered to wipe off and stained clothing. How embarrassing and disappointing to have to take him off the school bus that way in the afternoon. I complained to my school district but nothing changed even though the school got the complaint. I just couldn't comprehend why if they hired an aid for him and him only why couldn't she take care of one child, why did he have to look like no one cared about him. If I could have pulled him out of the school and kept him home I would have. My sons aid or teacher hardly ever wrote in his communication book that I sent with him daily unless there was something that they needed or they thought he wasn't feeling well. He did one year there and I couldn't wait to get him out of that school. I won't be bias, I talked to another parent that I know that sends her daughter there and she was happy so everyone's experience is different. What I would say to any parent with special needs children, if you're unhappy with a program, find another program that you're happy with.
