I am so happy with our choice- all the teachers genuinely care about the students, and are very well matched at each grade level. Since it's only 2s, 3s, and 4s, it's a small environment where everyone gets to know one another. They have music class each week and do lots of nice projects and activities. Honestly cannot day enough good things! If I HAD to find a negative, the school day for the 2 year olds is 9:00-11:15, which is age appropriate, but goes by very quickly if you are running errands, etc.

Kim and her assistants handled a party of 20 second graders with ease, they were fully engaged and challenged. It was so great to see the kids problem solve, learning why and how their robots were working, and how to fix them. They went from quietly and diligently building and decorating, to having so much fun racing and battling their creations. Kim is a natural teacher, and has a wonderful talent of making events fun and creative. She is clearly passionate about what she's teaching, and very organized and punctual. Everything was perfectly planned out and timed-completely stress free for the party host! The activities are designed to teach the kids to safely use real tools, as well as how and why things work. I could see the kids starting build their confidence in their problem solving abilities, while still having space to be creative and silly with their creations. We are thrilled to have had such a fun and different party. So grateful to Kim and her wonderful staff!

Yes, a lot of what I do entails teaching people foods to eat for optimal health, but the actual preparation of the food is a big part of that too. I came to the Zwilling Cooking Studio on behalf of my job, to enhance my cutting skills by taking their "Basic Knife Skills" class. Firstly, the Zwilling Cooking studio is modern and beautiful! There is also plenty of parking. I did not know what I was getting into when I signed up for the course. I didn't even know who Zwilling was before this, so it was a great experience. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by the instructor (unfortunately, I forget his name) and assigned to a "station". It was a small class, probably 12-13 people. We worked in groups of 3 on kitchen islands that were set up with a cutting board, a variety of knives, and some food to practice with. The kitchen itself is bright, modern, and spacious. In addition, the placement of the stations allowed for easy viewing of the instructor. Spacing between the kitchen islands and group members felt a little tight at times, but nothing extremely uncomfortable. During the course, we discussed the companies history, the different types of knives on the market, appropriate uses for different types of knives, and how to maintain your knives. We also received some hands-on experience with knife techniques. Among my most favorite, I learned how to properly hold a knife, how to skin a tomato as well as an orange, and how to prepare parsley. At the end, we prepped a small bag of veggies that we were able to take home and use. In terms of service, the instructor was amazing! Very patient and communicative. Throughout the class, he walked around and observed our techniques, then provided feedback accordingly. He also provided a lot of professional insight from his time as a chef, that really put things into perspective. After the class, we had a chance to shop in their store and were offered a discount on regular priced merchandise. They have a great selection of items including an impressive clearance section. I ended up purchasing a steak knife and paring knife at a steal. The only thing I would change about this experience is the communication regarding registration. You can easily sign up using their online portal however, once you sign up, you don't hear anything back. It would be nice to know who the instructor is and perhaps some information on what to wear or rules in the kitchen, in advance. A reminder or confirmation a few days prior would be courteous as well. Perhaps they do this and I did not see anything (?). Not a big deal but a helpful suggestion indeed. Overall, it was a good experience. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking to build their culinary skills, whether professionally or personally. Zwilling offers actual cooking classes, which I think would be more ideal for couples, friends, or families wanting an authentic culinary experience. I will return for one of those, but in the interim I highly recommend visiting.

This is a review for the summer camp, only, where my seven-year-old Onondaga Chief has been going…read morefor two years in a row. Adam Wallach and Ken Barer do an incredible job of running the camp, marketing it, communicating with parents, rallying kids for weekly spirit days -- and generally rockin' it. The kids swim twice day and are given just the right amount of freedom for their age. My guy was thrilled to ride his bike around on trails independently (without a grownup following closely) in mountain biking. Picky eater though he is, he seems to eat decently well, carbo-loading every day at lunch. Kids get occasional treats like fruit sushi, which the kids get to make themselves, trips to an ice cream truck, and cold (not-too-unhealthy) popsicles in the afternoon. Our guy kept telling us about eating fresh strawberries at lunchtime that were picked, he said, from the camp's own strawberry patch. (I can't verify this claim; it did seem like it'd take an improbably long growing season and an awfully, awfully large patch of strawberries to supply all those hungry kids for the summer.) Counselors keep the kids hydrated in the heat, buses are shockingly timely (MTA should take note!). Bus counselors do a great job of communicating bus arrival times. Activities are varied and interesting, including options like "mining," water works, pottery, archery, crafts, farming(!), all manner of sports (tennis, soccer, baseball, etc..) -- and there is always something new going on. My guy was excited to go from the moment he woke up each morning. Yes, the camp is guilty of blatant cultural appropriation -- but we get that at this point, there's monetary value in the branding that makes change difficult. At least they're changing the logo in coming years. We'd be thrilled if they actually taught the kids a bit about the tribes of the Haudenosaunee / Iroquois Confederacy that the groups are named after. (Our son reports that there is some sort of small "museum" on the grounds with a few artifacts found on-site.) We did some of our own research. All in all a fabulous, fun way to spend the summer. Our guy is counting the years until he gets to be a counselor himself.

I came to Nefda when I was 15, and now even though I am almost done with university I still visit…read moreevery time I am home. Irina puts her entire soul into this school and helps each student grow to their full potential. I learned so much technically (drawing, patternmaking, and designing) while also learning a lot about myself. The atmosphere of the studio is fantastic, it was such a safe place to come to after school. Irina really listens to you and tries to understand who you are while also helping you discover that as well. I am immensely grateful for my time in Nefda and will forever hold it dear in my heart. If you're interested in receiving a pre college class or you just want to sew a dress I highly recommend coming to this school.

We have loved NEFDA for the last 12 months when Kyle was the teacher. He was perfect for younger…read morekids and understood what they needed to be successful. We just completed one of their summer camps though that was a completely different experience. They had 26 campers in a tiny room with 5 staff members. Kyle unfortunately left the company that week and my daughter went from loving it to coming home crying every day. When I confronted Irina, I was told that they had 26 kids and just could not cope, which I understood, however taking on that many kids is completely in her control, so it is therefore hard to understand why it happened. That being said the thing that insulted me the most was that she said that my child was used to having everything done for her at home which is why she wasn't capable of finishing her dress on her own. She is actually a really good student that requires very little help with tasks or learning something new but the reality is she is 8 - and relatively new to sewing - which is why she was struggling. In the end her 9 year old friend had to pin her in to the dress for the fashion show. I hate writing this review as under Kyle's leadership, it was such a magical place. I would think twice about sending your younger child here and if you do, make sure there are no more than 12 in the class.
