Absolute waste of my child's time and my money. Way more expensive than other test prep places. I signed my child up for a $2600 package believing their pitch during the consultation visit. Zero improvement in the test score (my child is a sophomore and had a 1420 on the assessment SAT test and 10 weeks later is still at the same level). When I met with the director, she essentially blamed my child for not trying hard enough (he is a straight A student). For less cost, Kaplan at least offers teachers with 99th percentile score. The main issue at MEK is their classes are not taught by qualified professionals and run by a husband and wife team who takes advantage of parents who are looking for support for their children. The Operation Director at MEK, who is the co-owner, is a racist toward non-Korean Asians. This place is designed for Korean speaking families only. They are really in the wrong business. This is a business for teaching our children and yet they modeled all the wrong behaviors. The worst experience for a parent. I would give a zero star if it is an option.

After working with me on a number of academic papers, I wrote with more confidence AND she taught me to appreciate prosody --the elegance in the written word-- to the degree that Thomas Hardy became my favorite author. She taught me to organize my thoughts and themes throughout a written piece. She also helped me organize my research. She helped me improve my grammar and punctuation skills which I carry with me to this day. With her help, I was able to bring up my grades significantly. She motivated my boy very well and developed an excellent rapport with him. The tutoring was tailored to suit his individual needs and was at a very suitable pace for him. Homework that was set added to the overall effectiveness. His practice test ACT scores steadily improved as time went on. I am sure that his final score was much better than it would have been without the tutoring. The college preparation went extremely well, from help in identifying suitable colleges to the actual application process. She gave outstanding advice in crafting a great set of college essays, while being scrupulous in ensuring it was his voice that shone through. There were a lot of essays and ensuring we kept on the timetable was a very important part of the job, as was the advice on structuring and editing. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and my boy had a terrific crop of excellent admissions results and was offered some great scholarships. He was admitted to his first-choice school where he starts in the fall. Overall, Terry was great help to us in our preparations for college and was a real partner in our journey.

I have been teaching for a long time myself, and I can say first hand that Brian is an amazing teacher. I did not hear from Stephanie the following week, so called another week later to speak with Amanda, my original person. I told Amanda the story, how I called Stephanie and am unsure if she is just not interested in me and that's why she didn't call back or just didn't get to my application. She told me to hold on.....so I heard silence. Seemed like she was chatting with Stephanie who sits right next to her. How do I know they sit together?...because I was at the Center, so saw how their desks were situated. Amanda comes back to me and said, just one moment, I'll put you through. Great right! My rating of one is because she put me through to a voice machine....gee thanks Amanda. Nobody has the nerve over there to say we are looking for "college" sitters as their name says or just anything else....we are looking for people with more nanny experience. So of course I left a nice message for Stephanie but don't think I will hear back and if I do, I will remove this review of course... I just think they handled it so poorly.
