DeCicco & Sons is a small chain of gourmet grocery stores that opened in The Bronx, New York in 1973. It was founded by Italian immigrant brothers John, Joseph and Frank DeCicco, who came to America in 1958. The brothers had a deep knowledge and love of food and were immediately able to find employment at various New York City produce stands and butcher shops. Eventually they decided to go into business together and open their own grocery store in the Bronx called "DeCicco Food Market". Eventually John and Joseph went into business with their sons John Jr., Joseph Jr., and Chris, and in 2011 they founded the small chain "DeCicco & Sons" which has ten locations throughout Westchester and Putnam Counties. The DeCicco Family is dedicated to giving consumers quality food products. Each location features fresh local produce, meat, and seafood. Fresh mozzarella is hand-pulled every day and there are also several imported artisanal cheeses from Europe. Baked goods and hot foods are also prepared fresh on the premises. In addition to their food, DeCicco's is also well-known for their extensive craft beer selection. Some breweries even brew special releases exclusively for sale at DeCicco's. Each location also comes equipped with a craft beer bar. Frank DeCicco is also still in the grocery business with his family. His chain is referred to as "DeCicco Family Markets" and features five locations. I've been to the Brewster location a number of times over the years, but I recently visited the Armonk location for the first time. This location opened in 2013 and I think may even be larger than the Brewster store. The place was immaculate; very clean and really impressive selection of products. My wife and I picked out some hummus, cheese dips, gourmet sausages, artisanal cheeses, fancy crackers, prepared sandwiches, and some St. Patrick's Day and Easter treats for our son. Of course I couldn't visit DeCicco's without getting some beer. The beer fridges were fully stocked with an impressive selection of cans, but they had thousands of bottles in their upstairs beer lounge (including several vintages). I grabbed a couple of bottles to take home. Not only did the Armonk location have their own craft beer bar, but this store is the only location with its own bocce courts and cornhole set. Outstanding market, I think it's the best in Westchester. The veggies are always super fresh and crisp, the meats are excellent cuts with a wide variety. The employees are super helpful and there is plenty of parking. I also appreciate the fact that they have a sign in front, clearly stating "no dogs allowed in the store". I don't believe it's good to have dogs in food markets, licking at the food on display, so thanks for that and everything else you folks do so well ! read more

My cousin bought a tray of butter cookies and a strawberry cheesecake from the bakery department here to bring to a family get together we had. Everyone was raving how good the cookies and the cheesecake were. We kept asking what gourmet bakery did she purchase these baked goods at. No one could believe it was from a supermarket! The women who were working upstairs at the bar on 9/23/2018 were extremely kind and professional. I had accidentally broken a beer and it spilled everywhere. It was all over my legs and shoes. The women working upstairs were so quick to help me so I didn't slip. Thank you so much. Everything in this store is really gourmet and delicious. Upstairs, there is a bar, tables, TVs and even bocce ball. They have coffee, prepared foods, olive bar, pizza, sandwiches, rotisserie chickens in addition to groceries and many other things. I've been shopping at this location since it opened and for the past few months the service has gone downhill. The attitude of the employees is appalling- There was an empty wagon in a aisle that I thought of using- an employee asked if I needed anything and I asked if it was someone's wagon he said oh it's mine but I will get another one- he had the nerve to walk away cursing out loud saying "sure take the f'n wagon". I guess he was using it in the cereal aisle but he should've just told me that instead of cursing loudly while he walked away. I've encountered 2 more rude employees but it will take up too much time to write. For the money I spend in this store I expect not to be cursed at or in front of. read more

I love that there is a grocery store close by and the people that work here are very friendly...but, please please look at the expiration dates when you purchase anything here. Each time I have shopped here I have bought expired or pretty close to expiring items. Do they ever check the inventory and pull old items off the shelves? I've had to return a few things in the past. I was shopping there today when I noticed bacon that expired yesterday. The ONLY thing I didn't check before purchasing today was the bread expiration date and when I got home guess what?!?! I found it expired yesterday as well!! Too much of a hassle to go back for a return now. If it weren't for the convenience of having this grocery store close to home I probably wouldn't shop here. This review is solely for the pub that is upstairs INSIDE the supermarket. A great selection of local craft and micro brews. And the bartender seemed like he knew what was going on. From my vantage point, the supermarket was very active on a Labor Day Monday and the shelves looked well stocked. Walking by the fish counter, there was no smell of (old and dead) fish, a great sign. Produce also looked good and well stocked. I didn't look at any prices, but with a parking lot containing Bentleys and Maseratis, I bet this is not the bargain shoppers first stop! read more

Amazing. I love shopping at this store. It is so clean, the food is fresh, the staff are friendly and helpful, they are absolutely taking all COVID precautions and safety measures seriously and I appreciate that. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the store, signage everywhere so you know that you're 6 feet away from everyone, plexiglass between checkout lines and at the register- keeping you and cashiers safe. I'm impressed. The shelves are well stocked, the cheese department is just YUM DOT COM. I love cheese so I have a hard time not filling my entire cart every time I pass through it. I also love the hot food and deli sections. So. Much. Food. And it's good, fresh food. You can tell it wasn't just sitting out forever. Brendon is not only super friendly but very well educated in the beers on tap and beers in general. You can bring food up from the hot/cold area as well as anything else you buy. Up until the last couple of weeks, DeCiccos did a good job handling all the challenges of Covid. What has happened recently, is that Instacart shoppers have thrown caution to the wind and do not follow the rules that are clearly posted. The store does nothing to enforce them and thus, I think this might be it for me unless things change. It's a tight store to begin with but to see these paid shoppers just disregarding the aisle arrows, social distancing and in some cases not wearing masks scares me. read more

A lot of hard to find items in one place. They carry some of the rare(expensive), food store items you might find at smaller boutique shops. Arguably, the best hot bar Hot Wings you will ever find. Still moist, decent size, and plenty of extra hot sauce, if you like. Better than some restaurants I have been to. Yea, sure, there are other amazing hot bar menu items, but the wings are consistently yummy. A chill upstairs with a bar, to feast on your findings. Does anyone read Yelp supermarket reviews? I'll go out on a limb and say that as of this writing this is likely the best supermarket in the Westchester/Western Fairfield area. Start with a beautifully displayed produce area. It's not cheap, and there could be more organics, but the quality and variety are excellent. The fish is superior to Fairway, and there are occasionally some out of the ordinary seafood choices. (Jumbo prawns, crab, etc.) Meat is the store's strongest department. There are some beautiful steaks in the butcher's display, but the pre-packaged meats are also of good quality. This being an Italian gourmet market, you won't go astray with store made meatballs or sausage. One disappointment is the cheese department there is no live cheesemonger so you're relegated to pre-cut cheeses. These are usually in good condition, but you can't do a tasting if you're putting together a cheese plate for a special dinner. Just past the hard cheeses you will find a tempting selection of mozzarellas, burratas and ricotta. The store's own mozzarella is a good choice -- you don't need to plump for mozzarella di bufala. Prepared foods have generally exceeded expectations, particularly the pizza. Prosciutto di parma was sliced thin and wrapped well so it did not dry out. The cashiers/baggers have been exemplary on every visit. They replaced a missing package of meatballs without hesitation. You will pay a high price for all of this excellence. Unless you shop at Balducci's, if you find it elsewhere it's likely to be cheaper. That would be my sole complaint. There's more here than the beer. read more

Of all of the Decicco's stores, this one is second only to Brewster. An amazing selection of fruits and vegetables. The fish and meat are always outstanding. They have a wide selection of cheese and also the basics if you need them. Where this place shines is in the prepared foods and selections of beer. I have not had a single prepared food that I was not completely satisfied with. There is a full bar upstairs as well as one of the best craft beer selections in all of Westchester. The staff, particularly Brennan, are extremely knowledgeable and will recommend amazing brews you have never heard of before. This place is a gem in the quiet town of Armonk. read more

This is an awesome business, with the outbreak I have been shopping at many large national companies as well as our local DeCicco's. Although they are much smaller the level of care and thought they have put into thinking about there team and customers is past everyone. They have lines set outside to manage social distancing, handed out gloves and had installed plastic protectors between cash register lanes and also cashiers. This place is great for craft beer seekers. Not only do they have one of the best selection of craft beers available, they also have a bar upstairs with growler fills and some pretty hard to find beers on tap. To add to this, they have a supermarket downstairs with hot food as well. Do not sleep on this spot. The freshly made pizzas are the best in town and the beer selection on tAp, in cellar and in the fridge is second to none in Westchester. The only place I have found with a wider beer selection is Half Time in mamaroneck(beer store no food/bar). The manager in the deli was very rude and didn't explain any of the size of the food. She was suppose to call me with the price of my order but never did. My husband pick up the food on Christmas Eve the filet of sole frances had no sauce . Very dry I had to put the sauce from Shrimp Scampi On it. The shrimp in the scampi were so small. And I order the stuff clam 15 which I thought were small. The clams were so huge more stuffing instead of clams. I would never order food again. And the bill was over $200.00 for 6 people. Parking was difficult but once inside, certainly an impressive establishment showcasing a high end market that's a spectacle to behold. I love this place. Their produce is absolutely the best. And it's curated and displayed like art. Much nicer than Whole Foods. Chickens are great, prime meat is tres expensive but very good. Well I don't have much choice and I have to stop there occasionally. I always look for something for dinner and I see in the prepared food section a lot of chicken, chicken, macaroni and cheese, chicken. And some other very overcooked items like hamburgers. Anyway, I've also gotten burnt pizza twice and had money stolen from me. So I don't have the best experience going there but I do have to shop there out of necessity because there's nothing else on the way home from work. I appreciate that there is a supermarket in Armonk. I am also glad to see local milk, a great cheese section & bakery, although I can't always get someone to help me at the bakery, so I just leave it. Nice that I can order a cup of coffee there. Check-out cashiers are nice. I find the meat, fish, poultry to be expensive so I don't buy it. Looks nice, though. The fruit selection is excellent. Lots of beer for those that like that. I wish the frozen food section was more extensive - as in normal frozen dinners. I do not buy from the very expensive deli, although there is always a line so I think the prepared foods at the deli section are good. Salad bar looks nice, too. read more

On a number of occasions my wife who works in the area brings home prepared foods when it's getting too late to cook or we don't want to go out. On those times maybe 3 or4 we've always been dissatisfied with the product. Roasted chicken (Bell & Evans 26 ounces net weight $12.00) not well seasoned and even if it was that's a rip-off. The fingerling taters tasteless and expensive $8.00/ lb. I've had mashed potatoes in the past...meh and the Mac & cheese Kraft is better. Looks like we're not going back. read more
