I came here 4 times when in town for a conference, as this way super conveniently located to the conference center (Menino). It's open 7am-10pm daily, is always seemingly busy but always very efficient and fast to deliver orders, and has a huge amount of comfortable seating. First visit: I tried the vegan breakfast burrito ($12), a nicely designed burrito with tofu, potato, spinach, roasted red peppers, vegan cheese, and mushrooms, served with salsa on the side. Very solid burrito. The Spanish burrito I tried another day--which came with vegan meatballs of some sort--was even better. Second visit: I got an açai bowl ($9 for the small size; $12 for regular), and added vegan protein powder ($2) blended in. It came with açai blended with almond milk, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and granola. Real good and plentiful even for the small size. Third visit: just ordered a bagel with vegan cream cheese that had tomato in it, and added some spinach on top ($5.50 total). Very generous spinach portion (for $0.50!), well-toasted bagel, and an appropriate amount of cream cheese. Very tasty. Moreover, each time I visited, I ordered a double espresso ($3.50), which was excellent. Proper espresso, deep body, strong, served with sparkling water and a piece of dark chocolate.

The vegetable frittata was delicious--fresh, satisfying, and a perfect light breakfast. We also shared a scone with fruit jam, which was very well made. Scones are highly subjective, but this one was exactly the style I enjoy: flavorful without being overly sweet. I didn't try the coffee myself, but my partner really enjoyed hers, which isn't surprising given Thinking Cup's reputation as one of Boston's standout coffee shops. We arrived just as the restaurant was opening and were surprised to see how busy it already was at 7:00 a.m.! The café had a charming, distinctly French atmosphere, reminiscent of cafés we've visited in France, right down to hearing patrons chatting in French. It certainly added to the ambiance! Since we arrived early, we were seated immediately at a cute window table, perfect for watching the city come to life. Over the next few days, we walked past several times and noticed people lining up for tables, so we were especially glad we had beaten the crowds. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our waiter was attentive and efficient, bringing water promptly, taking our order quickly, and delivering our food in what felt like no time at all. We ordered lattes, French toast, and a Croque Madame. The French toast came topped with fresh blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and banana slices. While it was a satisfying breakfast, the dish itself was fairly ordinary. I would have preferred brioche-style French toast for a richer texture, and the maple syrup was already poured over the top. Having it served on the side would have been a nice touch, allowing guests to control the amount. I also wasn't entirely sure the syrup was pure maple syrup. The Croque Madame was enjoyable as well, though neither dish was particularly memorable. Overall, Café Bonjour is a great spot for its convenient location, charming French café atmosphere, and friendly, efficient service. While the food was good enough for breakfast, it wasn't necessarily the highlight of our visit. I would come back again to try their pastries, or crêpes. I'd recommend arriving early to avoid the lines and enjoy a relaxed start to your day exploring Boston!

My kid managed to snag a parking spot right on Charles St, just a block away. Listen- this was a victory in itself because parking in Boston is a muvvafuckinng nightmare. Beacon H. is everything I thought a charming neighborhood bookstore would be. It's cozy, quaint and has so much pizzazz. The space is narrow, rooms are little and even the staircase is narrow. Doesn't matter- it just adds to its old-fashioned charm. They also have a café that I really wanted us to try, but there was a wait, so we decided to stick to books this time. Depending on the weeknd, you might have to stand in line outside- line moves quick. This is the kind of bookstore I'd love to stay in for hours especially on a rainy day because it has this warm, inviting feel. The book selection isn't huge, but what they do have is well-put together with a little bit of everything: fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, etc. If you're looking for an entire collection by a particular author, you probably won't find it here.
