Vertical Drop is the go to spot for snow gear in Cincinnati. Good selection, great staff and nice services. They did a fantastic job on a wax/tune for my board before whitefish, it was slick all week long. Prices can be steep but you would be paying the SAME price or more for the SAME PRODUCTS online. I dislike people hating on VT for having expensive prices... snow gear is expensive to begin with. Absolutely would recommend this place! read more

Save your money, not worth the convenience in Cincinnati. Go anywhere else for your ski/ board needs. After mangling a simple binding mount, that took 6 weeks to complete, the store was more concerned with placing blame on the skier rather than taking accountability and finding solutions. Stuck with a ski with multiple drill holes and a broken binding after less than a month. Fortunately nobody was hurt on the hill due to Vertical Drop terrible service and poor craftsmanship, And again, based on response, no accountability for mistake in mounting. When I picked up the equipment after discussing, on the phone, I gave my name to the gentleman behind the counter and he handed me the equipment which was sitting out behind the counter. No indication they wanted to discuss, and I initiated another phone conversation after identifying the mis drilled holes after I picked up the equipment. Perhaps if Vertical Drop put the effort into customer and craftsmanship instead of throwing blame and being defensive then the customer experience wouldn't be like a punch in the face. read more

Coming from another city without a Ski shop and they want to charge a $100 rush fee to place bindings the same day. 3 other pairs of skis I have got bindings mounted and no one ever charged a dime for same day mounting or included free mounting with your purchase. read more

We've bought 2 sets of skis with boots and two snowboards with boots over the past 2 or 3 years. The staff have always been super helpful and I've relied on their knowledge which has proved to be very good as on our recent ski trip all the gear was perfect. Way better than any rental kit I've had in the past. Price was right too and I will be back if I need more gear. I highly recommend Vertical Drop. read more

Vertical Drop used to be located up in the Mason area, but moved down to a new store in Loveland in the past several years. They have a decent selection of skis, boots, boards, helmets, goggles, poles, and outerwear. Their prices are fairly comparable. I recently purchased a pair of ski boots here. They were a previous model year so I got a great deal on them! It is truly important to buy ski boots in person so they can be adjusted to you personally. They did a heat set for me at no extra charge with my purchase (which speeds up the breaking in process). The guy that worked with me was very knowledgeable and friendly. I hadn't had the same experience with other employees during previous visits. My only frustration was that they told me there was a 2 week turnaround time if I wanted to get my new boots adjusted to my current ski bindings. Only if I paid extra would they do it then. I understand it was during peak holiday time, but the rush fee thing just seemed a little sketchy. Unfortunately I had to take them out to Perfect North to get that part done as I was in the process of ski instructor boot camp. read more

I've always had a good experience with them over the last 15 years (including their previous location up in Harpers Point), from having bindings added to buying ski boots. There prices are reasonable imo. After Sun and Ski closing and Ski Train Depot being purchased by Perfect North, the only remaining options are Vertical Drop and Benchmark Outfitters, and Vertical Drop is primarily a ski/snowboard company where with Benchmark that is only a tiny section of their store. read more

Sales people and and Trey provided excellent knowledge and support when purchasing ski boots the prior week. Returned a week later to have new boots - Wife and Myself fitted to our own skis. Binding technician proceeded to inform me that he could not service our skis because the bindings were 30-40 years old. I have been skiing over 55 years and I know what old bindings look like. After I indicated the bindings were mounted by a ski shop within the last 7 years, he bounced me. Even my wife's parabolic's mounted at the same time didn't pass his muster. The binding technician must have bionic eyes because he made this determination from 6-10 away. Dropped $1,500 the week before and was getting ready to drop more coin on some clothes and accessories. If the binding technician would have viewed the bindings closely (checked the model) and based his response on some real facts, would have given him a second chance. My recommendation, he needs to go back to binding school. Give the salespeople 5 Stars and Technician Zero. read more

We paid MSRP for this board but 20min later found out it was on their website for $130 less. I called and asked if I could get the sale price since it was listed on sale on their own website and they told me, "Sometimes our website freaks out and glitches. Thanks for catching our mistake. It's being fixed now." Don't trust their website to relay accurate information and also don't trust their salespeople to help you when you're there. They initially asked me when I walked in the door but when I said by son was coming to pick out a snowboard, they never bothered to ask him if he needed help after that. Hands-down the worst customer service I have experienced in quite a long time. If I am shopping in the store, which is a boutique, all new, expensive type of winter sports store, especially two days before Christmas at 230/245 pm, I'm probably here to spend some money. It's not often that I am in a store and already starting to write my review, but I decided to wait until I actually got in my car to see if my experience was going to end differently. But it did not. Not only did I walk into the store without anyone saying hello to me, nor asking me if I needed help finding something, but, as I was asking about a $180 pair of snowboard pants, I was not offered help in finding another size since mine was not available, nor was the color, but I wasn't even offered help With a different style or brand. Three associates in the store today, and I was the only one in there shopping. What a horrible experience. I even had to ASK for a dressing room with a handful of pants. Never was offered. Ps. Everything can be found MUCH cheaper on www.the-house.com. It's no wonder that little places like this end up failing, the sales associate/ shopper relationship is extremely undervalued here. read more

We love supporting small businesses so we were happy to shop for a new ski setup (skis, boots, bindings, ski jacket) here...even if it meant paying a little more than a big box retailer. Our sales guy was super nice and knowledgeable. Everything was going well until my husband wanted to try on a pair of ski socks (with the intent of buying them) with his boots to see if they made a difference in how the boots felt. The socks the sales guy gave my husband wouldn't even pull up over his calf so he couldn't get them all the way up. They 100% absolutely didn't fit. But the sales guy said we had to buy them since he tried them on... and he insisted on including them in our purchase at the register. Total was around $1,200+. Then, sales guy told us that for them to put the bindings on, delivery would've been two days after we needed them. We were told that in order to get them two days earlier, we had to pay a $40 fee. This absurd fee combined with forcing us to buy the $27 socks did not make us feel like our $1200 purchase was well spent. Sales guy called the owner, and came back to tell us that the owner said he would waive the $40 fee, but we were stuck with the socks. We left that day without buying anything. So in essence they lost a $1200 plus sale over a $27 pair of socks and customers not feeling like they are valued. We ended up leaving there and going to another local outfitter for our purchase... where I also bought a full snowboard package as well. Will not be back to Vertical Drop which is a shame because it's a great location with a good selection... Just missing the mark with how to treat customers. read more

Vertical Drop is a neat shop located in downtown Loveland. Plenty of skateboards and long-boards and things of the like. I wandered in here after being introduced by a friend. This was the place I bought my first (and only) cruiser, and I love it. Made out of reclaimed wood, the board I got is definitely good quality for a decent price. Being a newbie in the skate world, the gentleman working here was helpful and full of advice for what to buy. I was happy to have that because I had zero clue what I was going for. Price-wise I'd say it is comparable to other local skate shops. I came on a Tuesday where they offered 15% off (most shops in downtown Loveland), so heck yeah I bought it then! **Double check before you go in, because I'm not sure that that is always a deal**. I'd recommend Vertical Drop to people in the Cincinnati area because after phone shopping around, they were the most helpful and had the most options available. I wish I would have read the reviews before coming here. The items are way overpriced, probably because not a lot of competition in Cincinnati. I bought several pairs of ski socks and returned one a little more than 2 weeks after I purchased them and the would not refund them ! Who give someone just 2 weeks to return an item? I won't be going back. Customer service sucks ! My dive to get to the place was 45 minutes only to be told I couldn't return even with the receipts. Bought my wife's fisher vacuum boots here and she's never been happier. We also scored some serious deals on there end of season clearance. A north face coat for $149 and a Spyder zip up fleece for $79. Top notch gear at a steal of a price. Can't recommend these guys enough. read more

I was told by the manager that the shop charges 40 dollars to try on ski boots which was the only shop in America that I've been to that charges to try on boots (I have traveled all over the country skiing). We went in the next day to buy boots from the place and the other employee never mentioned a 40 dollar charge and my brother tried on boots for free. After purchasing a helmet and a jacket the manager followed us to our car and completely attempted (failed) to intimidate my younger brother by telling him that he no longer was allowed to get any discounts at the store.... absolutely unprofessional behavior from a pathetic store... Ordered some salomon ski boots which arrived same week but I got the wrong size (my fault) when I let them know I needed to exchange they happily set aside the last remaining pair in my size for the exchange while my return was in transit. Shockingly bad customer service. I went in last week to purchase new ski boots to go with my existing skis and bindings, which I had brought with me. I paid for the "release check" to have my existing bindings adjusted to fit the new boots. I was called several days later with the news that my bindings could not be adjusted to accommodate the boots I purchased. Fair enough. I came in to pick up my skis and was shocked to learn that the fee for adjusting my bindings would not be refunded, even though the bindings were never actually adjusted. The sales associate had tried to refund me the full price of the boots, and I had pointed out that the boots were 35% off when purchased, and that I should not be refunded in full. My reward for this was their refusal to refund the charge for the release check, even though no service was actually provided. Crazy. read more

This store has been lying for 2 years about getting new Ski boots in and I've actually been cussed out by their manager about the matter and their awful policies. For two years now they pretend they're getting new boots in, specifically Dalbellos, theyve ordered some other new ones but no more than 3-4 new sets in two years!! They will also say "oh we put the order in a year ahead of time" they said that last year and every other shop around here has all the new boots, so idk if they just don't care or if the owner just doesn't think very hard. He's also a phantom owner and you can't talk to him, so I've never understood their "local Ski shop" concept. I've had a $450 gift card from where I bought boots, took them home, clicked in and knew they didn't fit right. Once I realized last year they were never going to get boots in, I had to beg to even get a gift card (they wanted to stick me with them) even though I had been calling for a few months bc I was told I could exchange for new boots (which never came). Same deal happened again this year, I waited and waited but not one new pair of boots. One of their employees told me they were clearing out old inventory? I guess that's worth losing all new boot sales? Doesn't make sense. And every time I go out there it's a total waste. This week I drove 40min there bc I was told they still had plenty of men's mittens in stock. Drove all the way there they had one men's pair for $90. Total waste of time and they still won't give me cash back on the gift card bc they literally have nothing to buy there. I never write reviews but this store drives me insane and your aren't even allowed to speak to the owner so employees just do as there told with little thought mostly bc they're all young and have no experience from my perspective. Started skiing at age 3 so I have too much experience to deal with this shops bs. They don't even know how to fit boots or make adjustments to them, no j bars, no baseplates, no nothing. I suggest if you slightly know what you're doing you don't go here, very stereotypical ski shop for this area. Store is a total joke and the exact opposite of how you should run a "local" Ski shop. I go out west twice a year and every time I try to blow this gift card, no luck. Could be a couple more years haha. read more

Bought skis here multiple times. Since moved to this location purchased new skis. In less than 3 months falling apart. Their response was basically "too bad". Another customer walked out angry in front of me after being promised "lifetime waxing" for skis he purchased there but then was told "but not his skis". Will no longer shop here. Went to check out the kayaks. They have a great selection of kayaks and have a type for everyone. I got one from fun trips up the Little Miami. Dale was great and answered all my questions. Now I just need the water level to go down a bit so I put some slime on my yak! read more
