My wife has been looking for a new bicycle all covid year. Her's popped a tire in early spring so she was riding mine until it finally experienced its old age and popped a tire. Found 1 on their website and visited but it was already sold. They recommended a woman's bike that has worked well. We just need to get about an inch cut off. The Salesperson was great with no pressure. He explained the warranty and service plans. He set it up with accessories while we waited. My wife was able to test in the parking lot. Our old bikes were originally bought from them over 25 years ago. I recommend them. They have many high-end bikes that go into the thousands for serious riders. read more

I really want to love this place! I'm a huge fan of biking on the bike trail. I'm not an avid cyclist, but I do enjoy getting some fresh air while biking. I had trouble with the Montgomery Cyclery in Loveland, so the past two or three times I have went to the Montgomery Cyclery on Montgomery Road near Montgomery inn. My bike tires broke during Covid. I needed to get a replacement for both tires. Although I completely understand the precautions during Covid, it was odd to just drop my bike off outside and speak to a technician outside. The technician put my bike up on a rack to see what would need to be done. He also quoted me a price and told me to come back later. To be honest, he gave me a timeframe of about four days. I do believe it was over a holiday weekend; however, I got a call only two or three hours later that my bike tires were finished. I thought 4-5 days might be a bit long just to replace bike tires, But I did not know what to expect. Honestly, the technician looked extremely stressed. I felt like he wasn't able to give me the time I needed to explain what was going on. I also felt like he was acting inconvenienced, as he had to come outside and look at my bike. I was not allowed in the store with my bike due to Covid. After I dropped it off, another man came out and cleaned the bike before they took it inside. perhaps he was stressed and emotional because of all of the changes due to Covid, but I did not feel extremely valued as a customer. My bike tires were fixed; however, after going for a ride, I was able to tell my bike was all messed up. The gears did not shift properly, and my bike was extremely hard to pedal. This went on for a good month or so. People even stopped to ask me on the bike trail what was wrong, as they could tell I was peddling very aggressively and making hardly any progress. Hindsight, I probably should have taken the bike back in to the shop, as when I dropped it off it worked perfectly fine. But, due to my experience with all the Covid precautions and the sales person not being in a wonderful mood, I did not go back. To be honest, that was my second or third bad experience, so I just decided I would need to deal with my bike on my own. The same thing happened to me at the Loveland location. I dropped off my bike and when I picked it up, my bike was in worse shape than when I dropped it off originally. Not great!! It was about $100 for two tires and tubes and labor. Positive side, you can sometimes find coupons in the local newspapers and magazines for a discount when you spend $100. read more

I bought my road bike from Montgomery Cyclery several years back, and I recently brought it in to check on a problem with the bike speedometer/cadence accessory that I bought with the bike. Jeffrey (I'm pretty sure) helped me, and he was extremely patient and knowledgeable! He reset my cadence sensor, and I also happened upon a sale on bike shorts! Just what I needed, and they were at a great price! Also had a nice selection of biking gloves which I also wanted! Judging by all my exclamation marks, I had a fantastic experience here!! read more

Beechmont Store - Had to take tire back twice for repair - and it still went flat. Final repair at a different shop (1,000 miles from home) and the repair shop in northern Minnesota questioned whether a new inner tube had been installed - they said the striations on the tube indicated previous use - even though we had not ridden the bike. We were charged in Minnesota $25 for a new tube and repair work. When we returned from our trip we went to Montgomery Cyclery and they refunded $22 - their charge for the 2nd tube and installation. The manager was offended and testy when I suggested the tube they installed was USED. No apologies for our inconvenience, nor any refund for our $25 fee in MN. Will not go back to this store again. I have only been in here two times but both times the customer service was abysmal. I try to shop local whenever I can but this place makes it hard with such rude and unhelpful employees. It's sad because there aren't many bike stores in the area. I would never recommend this place if anyone had questions, or wanted someone genuine to help. read more

I needed cycling shoes for a recently purchased used bike (but not purchased from Montgomery Cyclery) fitted with Look Keo pedals. They had a good selection of shoes and plenty of size options. The employee was knowledgeable and very helpful and I left with shoes and socks. Took the new bike out for first ride of the year and was very happy with the shoes. Oh, and the bike! read more

Great, friendly, honest service, not sure what else anyone could want! We just moved here from out of state and was excited to ride on the Little Miami Trail. The movers weren't super careful with the bike so I had to put the chain back on before riding. Unfortunately the chain then fell off on the crank side while shifting before a hill climb ‍. Put it back on again but decided to get a tune-up for both our bikes. Austin took a look, said my wife's bike was fine unless I wanted to just pay them anyway! My bike was a custom built bike handed down from a friend. That didn't faze him at all. He made some adjustments and then showed me where the tires were cracked. Even then he didn't just say replace them, he asked how much I planned to ride since it would be fine for the test is the year if I just occasionally rode. Since I planned to ride more, we went through tire options, he patiently answered all my newbie questions. Didn't oversell me on anything, spent lots of time answering my questions, did some minor tuning without charging me. All in all, very happy, will be back regularly! read more

After a lot of thought and some research, I decided to invest in a decent bike. Visited this location with an idea of the kind of bike I wanted. Seldon came to my rescue with non biased and extensive knowledge of both the inventory and the individual parts on each bike. After I expressed my interests, we compared a few bikes. Finally settled on one that was a bit more money than what I originally intended on spending. After a test ride, I felt very confident that the bike would meet my needs. Seldon was very patient, non pushy, extremely experienced and knowledgeable. He even loaded my bike into my car! I plan on stopping here for all of my future bike wants and needs. read more

The ball and chain and I decided we would like to start enjoying the Loveland Bike Trail. Problem was...I had no bike and don't know the first thing about biking, what I would like or should be riding. Waltzed into the Cyclery with no idea what I was looking for and with little ideas to offer Carlos, the excellent salesman who worked with us. He got right to work asking the appropriate questions of what type of riding I was planning on doing, and began making suggestions as to what types of bike I might enjoy based on that. He never tried to up-sell. He asked us what price range we were looking in. He then showed us the basic bikes and explained the differences in features from the more base models and on up, but never pointed out bikes over what we were interested in spending. He picked out an excellent match for me that he highly recommended. After trying out several options, it was indeed this bike that fit me the best. We were able to take the bike home, with the water bottle and kick stand installed to boot, within minutes of deciding. Not only that they give a 30 day grace period on deciding if you would like to purchase the 3 year service warranty. A one year is automatically included. Can't say enough good things about Carlos, the Cyclery, and the excellent service they gave us today! Montgomery Cyclery & Fitness is the premier bike shop in town, with two Northern Kentucky locations, one in Beechmont, one in West Chester, and of course one in Montgomery. I stopped into the Montgomery location, across the street from The Original Montgomery Inn and The European Café, a day after checking out Cycle Sport in Loveland. Montgomery Cyclery has a lot of the same clothing that Cycle Sport does, and basically the same products and services offered too, but generally they have a lot more to offer. The Montgomery location is huge, with a large showroom of bikes and accessories, but also a really big Shimano Sales and Service center, which is large enough that it is almost separate and actually has its own hours. The main area of Montgomery Cyclery has absolutely a ton of bikes of all kinds and for all ages, and even stationary bikes and mounts for your regular bike for indoor training, hence the "& Fitness" they added to their name. The store also has roller blades, a ton of helmets, sunglasses, shoes, all the other necessary cycling accessories including gender-specific gloves. Montgomery Cyclery also is running a great program called "Books 4 Bikes," for children in kindergarten through the eighth grade. Each time this summer that a kid reads a book they can fill out an entry form for a weekly drawing of prizes such as locks and helmets. There is no limit to your number of entries and four winners--one per age group: K/1, 2/3/4, 5/6, 7/8--are selected each week. Four grand prize winners will be drawn Labor Day weekend and will take home "terrific new bikes." Montgomery Cyclery truly is a great store, carrying "the largest selection of the finest bicycle brands in Cincinnati." I do not write many reviews but I had such a good experience here that it was the least that I could do. I recently decided to buy a road bike to be able to challenge my training but save my joints from the running I was doing. I originally came here because they had a sale on the bike that I wanted. I am very happy that I did. Not only did I get the exact bike I was looking for but the guys working spent their time with me and answered all my questions, something very valuable to me as I had a ton. A special thank you to Gary who set my bike up and the gentlemen that did my first tuneup. I am very thankful for their patience and sharing of their experience. I bought a pair of Mountain Bike Shorts in late summer and I really never liked the way they looked or fit. I stopped in and spoke with Scott/Montgomery Manager and WOW was I impressed. Due to the time that passed he was a little reluctant to return so we made a deal. As it turned out I just had the wrong size! That's why they didn't fit well.
