My husband booked me a prenatal massage with Shirley since I kept asking him daily for massages. Finding the spot was a bit tricky at first, but turns out we were in the wrong parking lot. Verona Massage is located on El Camino, which can be hectic, but there is free parking in the back, and once you enter the building, it gets a little bit quieter. There are some cool crystals and geodes on display in the main building. There are 2 rooms for Verona Massage, and it is not a spa or foot massage place. Shirley takes appointments, and I am so grateful my husband booked me one with her. It felt very private, relaxing, and I didn't feel rushed at all. This was my second time getting a prenatal massage, and I can hands down say that this was better than the one I got in Hawaii. She focused on my knots that I didn't even know I had! I appreciated the quiet environment and calm she creates. She has great technique and applies just the right amount of pressure, although she checked in on the pressure as needed. There was not a moment where I felt like I needed to tell her to apply more/less pressure. The 1 hour was simply pure bliss. It was truly a relaxing and healing experience, and I'm looking forward to my next session with her!! read more

Wow. Best masseuse I've had the chance to get a massage from in quite awhile. I've tried a ton in San Mateo (and all over Asia). Shirley is very talented, has very strong hands and has a deep understanding of the body. She was able to get some of my deep knots to the surface by massaging other parts of the body. I booked a two hour deep tissue and she definitely delivered. The place is professional and clean, but note that it is not a spa. I don't think I'd come here for couple massages or a "luxurious typical relaxing" experience, I'd come here for a truly relaxing massage that'll help heal your body. Also, this is not a cheap foot massage spot if that's what you're looking for. I think this is actually the perfect spot if you're looking for a real massage. Would definitely come again! read more

Come here for a seriously deep massage! Shirley is so strong and when I need to get deep into whatever hurts, Shirley will find it and get all the knots out. She will definitely take care of you! Verona Massage is inside an office building. Parking is available behind the building. There are two massage rooms, but since it's just Shirley, she seems to just use one of them for the most part. So overall, it's very quiet. read more

I've been seeing Shirley for almost a year now and I can only say I'm so thankful I found her! The moment I had my first massage, I could tell that Shirley was very experienced and knew how to target the right muscles to release tension. This is speaking from someone who has had countless massages over the years. She will also ask you if you want stronger or lighter pressure and you can let her know. Shirley is also very patient and kind. Her massage space is clean and calm and booking is easy online. I always look forward to my next massage with her. read more

Unbelievable. After a very strong deep tissue massage from Shirley this morning, I am, for at least the moment 100% pain free. Even at my best, I hurt somewhere all of the time. She truly understands where to apply her hands, mostly without even asking. A well deserved 5.0 stars read more

Just had a 90 min Deep tissue last night and boy, was it good! I'm a frequent deep tissue / Thai massage type of girl and Shirley checks off all the boxes - pressure, technique, mindfulness, relaxing. Don't let her small frame fool you, she's very strong. One of the best deep tissue massages I've had. She tried very hard to get all my knots out (my back is made of rocks lol). I would def come back. Her online booking system is also very easy to book an appointment. Her space is small and quaint. Very relaxing. See you again! read more

Hands down, pun intended, this was the BEST deep massage I have ever had. It had been over a year since my last massage which was given during a vacation. I lost my last local masseuse when he moved from San Mateo to Portugal some years ago & never found a replacement. Let me start by saying Shirley's massage Studio is very peaceful with high ceilings, lovely decorative touches and is painted in soothing colors. The soft music she plays in the background is very relaxing. Shirley is petite, but very strong and her massage techniques really helped to work out some serious knots and kinks that I had been storing up in my body. I know she is trained in a variety of massage techniques, but I requested a 90 minute, very deep one & she delivered. Not only was the massage phenomenal, but the additional touches of hot stones, as well as hot towels used to soothe & then remove oils as she finished each area, we're unexpected and contributed to the lovely experience. I will most definitely be back in the near future. Thank you Shirley! read more

Thank you so much, Shirly. Your healing touch truly makes a difference, and I always feel so much more relaxed after visiting you. As someone with chronic neck pain, it means a lot to experience this relief each time. read more

I've had both deep tissue and Swedish, both were best I've had on the peninsula. Super clean space and professional service!

Great place to get a massage. there is only one room (that I saw) and one massuase (also that i saw) so would highly reccommend you book an appointment. location is on el camino by the mcdonalds. pretty sure there was a parking lot, but i just parked on el camino and walked into the building towards the back. you did hear a bit of the outside world but it was mostly serine and she was able to get some knots out of my body. definately would come back read more

Shirley is such a talented massage therapist. Truly, she has given me the best messages of my life. I love deep-tissue massages with hard pressure. At other places, I would leave feeling like something got tweaked/hurt. But Shirley truly knows how to work all of the muscle groups in the correct way. She finds all of my tense spots and works her magic. I carry most of my stress and tension in my upper back/shoulders. Shirley has been the only way that I have been able to relieve that near-constant pain. As an incredibly active swimmer, I know this dramatically improves how my body feels overall and in my day-to-day life. Additionally, her massage studio is clean and relaxing space. If you are looking for a fantastic massage artist, Shirley is it! read more

Got a 60mins detox massage and it really hit the spot. She was great with all the pressure points and gentle with placing my limbs where they need to be. The place is quiet, clean and spacious for the intended need. Will definitely go back. read more

I sent an inquiry about buying a gift certificate, but never got a response. Very disappointing and frustrating.

This was an excellent experience; a strong massage in a soothing and calm atmosphere. Shirley's deep tissue massage finally removed the knots in my back that had plagued me for months. Shirley intuitively understood where to apply the pressure and has a lot of strength to get at the knots. Highly recommend. read more

This was my second time coming in for a 60min detox massage, and I will def book for 90 next time. I think this is the only place that's made me feel truly relaxed. Verona is awesome! read more

Shirley has magic hands. I am a runner and over the past few months of going to Verona Massage I have clearly experienced a massive improvement in my circulation. Shirley will adapt to whatever amount of pressure you need but she is very strong and works efficiently on tired, aching muscles. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED therapist and just the sweetest person. read more

She is amazing!! Veronica has hands of fury!! best massage techniques I've had so far, her office is quite clean and has a soft luxury feel when you come in. read more

Excellent Swedish massage. I have been to other places over the years but by far Shirley is the best. No frills clean location with just a small waiting area and two rooms, but works well for me and parking in the back of the building is very convenient. She relaxed my tense back muscles/knots and feeling great the next morning. She is strong and can get deep in the muscle to a point where it hurts a bit, but I did not complain to adjust pressure as I needed it to get the back soreness addressed. Well worth it! Will go back again for sure. read more

Just finished an hour long Sports massage for a bad back. Shirley is top notch, professional, and timely. The massage was awesome, true deep tissue, can tell she is very experienced. 10/10. read more

Great experience. Very good masseuse that focused on the areas I mentioned were bothering me. There is plenty of parking, if you can't park above ground, give her a call and she will give you the code for underground parking. Relaxing and well done overall. She usually has same day appointments available (during the week) which was nice for a last minute massage :) read more

Soooo relaxing! Shirley is friendly and a true professional certified therapist. She uses the right amount of pressure to loosen tight muscles without being painful. Facility is new, simple, clean, and prices are reasonable. I've tried many other places, but Shirley is the best. I definitely will be returning. read more

If you are looking for the best massage in San Mateo Look no further. Hands down and all around. A wonderful experience. read more

Hands down one of the best massages I ever got. Got the sports massage with Shirley and it was absolutely amazing. I'm a personal trainer and workout a lot and it's hard to find a quality masseuse who knows how to really get into the tough spots. She has really great technique, checks in with you on pressure, & she maintains a very clean & cozy environment. I had a girl I was going to for years prior but she moved so I was desperately looking for someone just as good! I can definitely say she's my new girl! Highly recommend. read more

Shirley is fantastic!! I've had several massages with her now and will continue to go to her for as long as I can. I fully trust her, the price is right, and the space is lovely. When she's working, you just know that she is an expert at her job. If you are looking just to relax and be soothed, tell her that and have a lovely nap. Otherwise, expect the kind of therapeutic body work that can get a little bit painful. She will find your tense/problem areas and work them out to the extent that you're comfortable. I always feel like she is very in tune with my pain threshold and knows what I can handle. I've added hot stones for my last two sessions, and LOVE them. I cannot recommend Shirley more for those looking for a professional therapeutic massage. read more

Best massage I've ever gotten! I had a prenatal massage a couple weeks ago and it made me feel a thousand times better. Most other prenatal massage sessions I've gotten at other places is basically just a "normal" massage but without having me lay on my stomach. At Verona massage, it was different- she focused specifically on areas that get more fatigued and sore during pregnancy such as the hips and lower back. She was kind and communicative the entire time to make sure everything was okay, which I appreciate. I will definitely be back! read more

The location is easy to find with plenty of parking available. The ambiance is nice and welcoming. So happy I found Shirley/Verona Massage on yelp! It has been a long time since I've had a massage. She targeted my upper back issues and the pressure was just right! She reminded me how relaxed and amazing I feel after. It was a wonderful experience and will definitely be back sooner than later. read more

I've visited this massage place a couple of times, and every experience has been wonderful. The therapist is extremely professional, attentive, and skilled. Highly recommended! read more

I like to get a massage every 1 to 2 months. I tend to get deep tissue thai massages, and occasionally, those cheaper foot maasages. I decided to try out a swedish massage and found Verona Massage through a web search. The massage I got was one of the best I've ever had! Parking was a breeze, and the facility was incredibly clean. I will surely come back in the future. read more

I hesitate to write a review like this because I am worried I won't ever be able to book an appointment in the future! If you haven't visited Shirley @ Verona, you are doing yourself a disservice. I warm, spotlessly clean environment, warm massage table, soothing music, and the massage always leaves me relaxed, refreshed, and thinking about the next time. I've been a customer for many years, and I can tell you no one holds a candle to this woman. She is warm, friendly, attentive, and highly professional. I've paid much more for massages no where near as fantastic. Highly, highly recommend. You can thank me later. read more

This was my first time booking a massage with Shirley and it was a great experience. She seems to be very knowledgeable about stress points, and checked in with me throughout the massage to make sure that the pressure was to my liking. The ambiance of her studio is superb. I loved the lighting, colors, and how clean the space is. It's very relaxing, perfect for a massage. A special touch was the warm bedding on the massage table. Ahhhh so relaxing. I'll be back for more! read more

Very skillful and professional... Clean and quiet place with a large parking space.. Highly recommended shop

Went in for a 60 Swedish + hot stone and it may have been thee best massage I've ever had. Perfect pressure and amazing elbow techniques. Though it's a drive for me it'll be my new go to. The kindness, cleanliness and quality is worth the drive. I'll definitely be back soon. read more

I highly recommend Verona Massage. The office accommodations are first class, super clean and located in an upscale office building. Ms Shirley is very professional, friendly and highly skilled in providing message therapies. I highly recommend Shirley for anyone who is looking a more therapeutic type of massage. I have been going to her for a year now.
