Verona Massage is located on El Camino, which can be hectic, but there is free parking in the back, and once you enter the building, it gets a little bit quieter. There are some cool crystals and geodes on display in the main building. There are 2 rooms for Verona Massage, and it is not a spa or foot massage place. Shirley takes appointments, and I am so grateful my husband booked me one with her. It felt very private, relaxing, and I didn't feel rushed at all. This was my second time getting a prenatal massage, and I can hands down say that this was better than the one I got in Hawaii. She focused on my knots that I didn't even know I had! I appreciated the quiet environment and calm she creates. She has great technique and applies just the right amount of pressure, although she checked in on the pressure as needed. There was not a moment where I felt like I needed to tell her to apply more/less pressure. The 1 hour was simply pure bliss. It was truly a relaxing and healing experience, and I'm looking forward to my next session with her!!

I don't think I'd come here for couple massages or a "luxurious typical relaxing" experience, I'd come here for a truly relaxing massage that'll help heal your body. Also, this is not a cheap foot massage spot if that's what you're looking for. I think this is actually the perfect spot if you're looking for a real massage. Would definitely come again!

The first time, both my husband & I had deep tissue massages for 90min. It was my 1st time getting that. Swedish is what I get generally, and I much rather that. It seems they've recently opened, as the facilities look new and clean (it changes a little bit when you wander into the back and the rooms; I don't recommend needing to use the bathroom here). To my luck, they accommodated us an hour earlier than scheduled. The rooms are dark with small beds and soft blankets. The furniture and wall decorations are dated, and the rooms for different clients are separated by a fabric sheet. Not the best, but I'm glad we were the only ones here at the time of booking. During my massage, I felt that my masseuse did a lot of same stuff. I got my elbows and forearm worked on a lot, which was cool but not necessarily what I wanted. There was a language barrier so I couldn't really say anything. I was surprised to receive hot stones resting on my back at some point, which turned into a hot stone rub. They then put oil everywhere - like, EVERYWHERE. The Chinese massage oil was mild, almost diluted with no real smell, but I preferred the lack of potency. Despite the language barrier, I did feel comfortable throughout the massage - out of my first three massages, this was the least painful and ticklish. My fingers and toes also got cracked. The background noise was piano music over water with constant chirping sounds which became rather annoying. The result of this massage was great, though it was more of a relaxing great than a massage that fixed problem areas. I had gone on a hike right before the massage, and the massage made me feel much looser and better. At the end, they offer you lemon flavored water and candy, and request for your tip. I do wish they didn't watch you as you put in the tip, as that pressure feels unnerving. While I enjoyed the massage, I wish I had gotten results with more impact, and also prefer better facilities.

Entrance in front of a busy street so you may miss it!

Daniel's therapeutic massages are some of the best I've ever had; possibly the best; and certainly…read morethe best locally (Redwood City). I highly recommend him for his low key manner, his strong but careful hands, his concern for one's condition, his knowledge of massage and the body and his great intuitive capability. Above all, I recommend him because of the beneficial results I've experienced after his massages. I've been dealing with lack of mobility issues and often severe back pain due to an injury to my lower back that occurred about seven weeks ago. It has been a long, slow recovery, even though I was in great shape just prior to the incident and I have tried to do all I can do to recover from this condition as quickly as possible. Several weeks ago, I sought out a good, local massage therapist to help with my recovery. Daniel was recommended to me at that time through Baysix, though I usually prefer a female to work on me. First, we thoroughly discussed my situation. He listened intently and I believed that he understood my somewhat fragile condition and that he would respect my concerns. I was initially worried that having the wrong deep massage would worsen my condition but I also wanted a reasonably deep massage to encourage angry muscles to loosen up and to awaken inactive supporting muscles and generally speed up recovery. He worked diligently on the mess of misfiring nerves and uncoordinated muscles in my back and neck for an hour. The massage felt great but the real proof of his capability was just how good my back and neck felt the following 2 days. I felt better than I'd felt since before the injury! Much better. Up to that point, my recovery had been very slow, though the PT was beginning to stabilize my lower back. I couldn't believe that I could feel, and actually be, so much better so quickly after a single massage. Daniel has worked on my back, shoulders and stiff neck several more times since then and I can say that the first time was not a one-off. His philosophy and practice of how to give deep tissue massage without the usual resultant pain afterwards has worked for me and has truly helped me further my recovery at a much faster pace. Daniel is easy to work with and seems like just a genuine, nice guy, as well. And, he's very knowledgeable. If you want, he will help you understand what's going on with your condition so that you can help yourself heal beyond the sessions.

I also really wanted to support a women-owned business. However, I also work hard for my money, and when I spend a good amount of it, take time off work to get issues addressed, and provide instructions, I do hope I'm listened to. That wasn't the case here, and I feel like Claire just went through her usual routine instead of focusing on the main area I identified prior to the session starting (significant pain in lower back tied to the quadratus lumborum, and my entire back in general was super tight). My latest back flareup lasted for two months and I needed some relief. I saw Claire bills herself as a medical massage place, so I booked a 90-min massage in the hopes that it would help and was really looking forward to it. Paid $255 (which included tip and CBD oil; I was desperate for pain relief). At this point, I'd to emphasize that Claire asked what areas I would like to focus on. I explained my back issue and said I'd like to focus most of the time on my back, with particular attention paid to my lower back. This was all before the session started. She also asked about modality preference. I said deep tissue. Pros: - The reception area was clean and welcoming, along with the massage room - There's plenty of parking in the lot - Claire seems to be really nice and has super strong hands *The not-positives* She spent 70% of the total time working on my traps. I do hold a lot of tension there, yes, but spending majority of time there was not what I was looking for. I had not mentioned my traps being an issue at all. Mid back? I just got what felt like a light back rub, maybe 5 min of what could be constituted as deep tissue. No relief there. Lower back? She barely touched it. She threw on a heating pad on that area and went to work on my legs instead. I asked if we could skip my legs and just focus on my back, and she assured me we have plenty of time to focus on my back. Then she finished with my legs and instructed me to flip over, and I was like wait, that's it?? I asked AGAIN that she work on my lower back a bit and she said ok, then spent maybe 10-15 min using a trigger point technique, which felt great...but again, she only spent that time on it AFTER I asked her, despite what I explained when I first arrived. She then had me flip over and started working on my traps and upper neck AGAIN, then started on the area where my lats would be (not sure what it's called). She told me it's a spot most therapists overlook and helps with lymphatic drainage. Fine, that's fair. In the end, I actually left worse than when I started. Had no relief anywhere I had asked for. Another massage therapist I had seen a month before who offers only 60-min massages spent more time on my back than Claire did. I won't be going back, and I honestly can't recommend Claire if you're looking for pain relief or mobility. It was a HUGE waste of my time and money, and I was worse off for it. Her approach is good for those looking for general relaxation but not pain relief.
