This was one of the best massages I've had in a long time. My massage therapist intuitively knew exactly how to target the areas where I was holding the most tension. I deal with sciatica pain, and this massage provided so much relief. The experience was both therapeutic and incredibly relaxing--I actually fell asleep because I felt so comfortable! The therapist was friendly, kind, and made me feel completely at ease. The environment was also clean, quiet, and peaceful. I left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and with noticeably less discomfort. Highly recommend! read more

This was my first time here, and Jenny's massage technique was amazing! She relaxed all my muscles, and the pressure was just right. I highly recommend this place; the environment is clean and hygienic, and the massage experience is truly fantastic. read more

I have been here several times and usually request Candy or Lulu because of the quality of massages that I have received. However, even when they are not available, I have had a very positive experience. A few things to note: the facility is a pretty small location and rooms are often only separated by a curtain or thin walls. In other words, you hear a lot of the chatter coming from the reception area or even other rooms. This is not your peaceful Zen spa if that is what you are looking for. That aside, the quality of the massages are the best I have found. The combination of types of massage available, plus the strong hands of the therapists are unmatched for the price. I am someone who needs very deep pressure and like someone to stick their elbows into my knots and I get this here more than any other place I have been to. I think more importantly, the therapists seem very intuitive in their ability to find my knots. They don't just go through a standard routine, but try really hard to work on things that need work. Again, this may not be for everyone because the intensity can be quite high and even painful. But this is the type of massage I prefer. Five stars for quality of massage. read more

If you're looking for a frou-frou place that's all zen and bougie, this isn't a place for you. However if you're looking for an excellent message, then check this place out. All the ladies here are fully capable in giving the best massages. Some are small enough that they even get on your back! I believe they advertise as an "all women" based business. No funny stuff but all the hard work in getting those knots and working out your tension. I also like that you can book online and they have late(r) appointments that you can usually get if you're in a pinch. read more

Amazing Experience Joyce is truly a wonderful massage therapist. She has a great sense of pressure and knows exactly how to make the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. I especially appreciated how patient and caring she was throughout the session. The atmosphere was peaceful, and I left feeling completely refreshed. Thank you, Joyce, for such a great experience! I will definitely be back. read more

I've been coming to Izumi for over 7 years now (wow time flies!), with some time away for family matters. The massage therapists have changed over the years, but the quality really hasn't. After well over a few dozens or so massages here, it still continues to be one of my preferred and favorite local spas. Since returning to the area, I've seen Rola (I think it's spelled?) and Lulu. Rola gives a wonderful sports massage and really knows how to work out stubborn knots and tension. Her stretching techniques are still my favorite out of every massage therapist I've ever tried! I had been assigned Lulu when I wanted something more relaxing, and her Swedish massage was exactly what I was hoping for. It was very relaxing and her attentiveness helped melt all the stress away and lull my body into a restful nap. I recently overheard a different client expressing being upset with their massage because they chose Swedish but wanted much stronger pressure. So I think it's important to choose the right massage style, because the style isn't just different pressure levels, it's intended for a different type of relaxation. If you don't pick the right one, you won't get the effect you're after! That's my advice after many many therapeutic massages. Also from my understanding, the staff here matches you with a therapist based on what style you select. Whenever I've selected deep tissue or sports massage, I've never had an issue with not enough pressure and the therapist would be skilled at finding and resolving my knots and tight areas. And when I select Swedish (for when I'm sore or just wanting to relax and unwind), it's exactly the pressure level and technique patterns that my body needed. What keeps me coming back here is how personal my experience at this spa feels. I've been to larger spas all over the Bay Area but it just feels like I'm just another headcount for their schedule. I appreciate how the staff here has always been welcoming, professional, polite, and kind to me, and when I return to a therapist, they remember my preferences and sometimes even give me additional advice to help lessen the tension I put onto myself. That attentiveness is not something I've been able to get at bigger spas. Sorry for the long review! Just thought this would be amazing to know for someone debating on whether to try this wonderful spa out and what would be helpful to get the experience they're seeking~ read more

I had a very strange experience at this spa. As someone who is always on the go, we did a couples massage. Both of our masseuses laughed almost the entire time. Some kind of joke or they were laughing at us? Not too sure, but wasn't relaxing at all. We came out to pay the tip and the receptionist was not happy with the tip I offered. They demanded at least $20 each masseuse, which I understood. I was gonna do 20% tip based on my experience ($34 total), but they asked for $40. They charged $42 instead... maybe it's a credit card usage, but honestly not acceptable. It was not a great experience. Very affordable for $150 for couples massage. But not worth it read more

We had such a great experience at Izumi Spa! A friend and I went for a birthday and did massages together in the couples room. I had Candy for a deep-tissue massage, and my friend had Nico for a Swedish massage--we were both equally happy with our treatments! Candy was incredibly attentive, respectful, professional, and clearly very skilled at what she does. I'm pretty athletic and LOVE a true deep-tissue massage, and she absolutely delivered. My muscles feel worked, loose, and basically like Gumby--which is exactly how I like them! The couples room is really nice and relaxing, with music and a comfortable atmosphere. Both Candy and Nico made us feel completely at ease. Definitely worth doing at least the full hour. We left relaxed and very happy with the experience. I'll absolutely be going back! read more

I saw Jenny for a 60 massage. I have to say that I miss the days of $60 for 60 minutes, but it is what it is. She was very attentive and very thorough. She's one of a very few women to use her forearms and not hurt me when going over my hip bones or shoulder blades. I don't push for "extras" when I get massages, so don't ask. Treat her nicely. She'll do the same. read more

Nicole was amazing. Great massage and very professional. I always specially ask for her.

I have to back up what Neha said. I literally got rushed out due to poor scheduling. I arrived on time, even early. It started on time, but ended early. There's almost certainly some kind of Newton's Law of conservation there. As in stop, told to hurry up because the next person was there already. They had two people changing the sheets to go faster, but they did manage to pause for the tip. Being a good person, I left the full recommended tip. But I must admit the thought of zero was dancing in my head. I felt so humiliated! Note the lack of response. That is quite telling. I was actually going to go today, but then remembered and didn't do it read more

I had a deep tissue and sports massage with Joyce, and it was fantastic. I felt so much lighter afterwards, and I'll definitely be back.

I don't recommend this place. 1. I didn't like it because they didn't rub the parts where I placed that I wanted the massage. 2. I asked for a gentle massage but all they did was stretch me and touch certain parts of my body, no oil was used but on a few occasions. I asked for a massage not to touch several parts of my body. 3. I understand if the staff is already tired and has no breath to massage you. 4. I don't understand why they give you the sheet, if where you put that you want the massage they don't give it to you, why do they want to know if I liked the massage, when I put that I hadn't liked it, the receptionist started yelling at me, that if I wanted a massage I should pay for the strong massage, and I replied that I wanted a soft massage, I don't like it strong, but I wanted a massage, not just to be pressured. He didn't like my opinion and didn't let me continue, because he started making a fuss about all the staff. 5. The receptionist is not trained for her position, because she does not accept constructive criticism for the place. They have a lot to improve, if I recommended this place the truth is not. One is going to get a massage to leave relaxed, not stressed by the reception staff. I don't blame the girl who gave me the massage, because I understand that we all get tired. Hire a person trained in reception who knows how to do their job and is kind. read more

I've been here several times over the past few years and have even brought family members along. I've had okay massages before, but most of them have been great, which is why I've been returning. However, this evening, I had the worst experience here. First, they offer a stamp card where you get a free massage after 10 stamps or so. I left my stamp card at home tonight, so I asked if I could just get a new one. The manager said they don't give out stamp cards to returning customers, but only new customers. This didn't make sense because stamping an existing card would've been the same as stamping a new one, but oh well. That's fine. Then, when it comes to payment, their advertised price for a 60 minute massage is $75. I paid cash this evening, so no issues there, but my sister who came with me paid by card. She was charged $79 for using a credit card. We questioned them because my sister has always paid $78, including her last visit which was just a week ago. We were then told that they charge $4 extra for credit card, but only $3 if using a debit card. It's a $1 difference, but this practice is very shady. I am not even sure they are allowed to pass on credit card fees to customers. When it was time for the massage, the lights weren't dimmed and it was cold. My sister's massage table apparently had a heated blanket, but mine didn't. My masseuse didn't bother fixing the blanket over me and she also left in the middle of the massage for about 4 minutes. Also, the towel that was over my head while facing down fell off my hair at some point, but the masseuse eventually picked it up off the carpeted floor and used it to cover my eyes when I turned over and was facing up (just so gross). Upon checking-in, they also ask you to fill out a sheet where you can indicate what body parts you want them to focus on and/or avoid. I indicated not to touch my glutes and arms, but the masseuse did anyway. This isn't such a big deal, but why have your customers take the time to fill out this sheet every single time if the masseuse isn't going to accommodate the request anyway. After the massage, they have you rate their service on the same sheet you filled out upon checking-in. They also have your masseuse standing there by the door waiting for their tip. So awkward. Needless to say, they lost a returning customer this evening. read more

Great therapeutic experience, relaxing and pain relieving massage. I have sport related muscular ailments from my neck all the way down back and legs. The deep tissue hot stone service was so good. I decided to check this place out while I was waiting for my car service to finish. I did not know what to expect but really needed a massage for awhile. For my birthday, my husband booked us a couples massage at the izumi spa. For the 75 min, it costs $190, and if you want to do an add-on, it's an additional $10. If you need more info, go to their website. Can't take photo inside. I did a deep massage, and he did a sports massage. It was so good. I really needed that massage. It hurt so good. Haha. My massage therapy has magical hands. She was hitting all the knots I didn't even know I had or had. My only complaint is that it was a bit noisy cuz the couples massage room is next to where the customer checked in. Otherwise, everyone was so nice. I would go here again. read more

Do not get a side-by-side foot massage if you want to relax. Friend and I got foot massages at the same time. We were in a cold curtained room with two recliners and a table.
