Top: cauliflower crust sausage and mushrooms bottom: gluten free crust

I wasn't a fan of Vero's prior to this visit, but I am now! This last visit was a whole new ball game! We ate in, and our sausage and mushroom GF crust as well as our cauliflower crust pizzas came out piping hot and fresh! I definitely preferred the cauliflower crust over the GF crust. The cauliflower crust was thin, extra crispy, and had phenomenal flavor! I do wish I didn't have to pay an arm for their pizzas, but I will definitely be back for the cauliflower crust!

Oh Vero, I'm so glad you opened this location closer to me! Vero has one of the top "Chicago thin" crusts in the valley - it actually reminds me of my go-to pizza growing up in Chicagoland! Nowadays, I need to eat the gluten-free crust and they offer two versions - a gluten-free traditional crust and then a cauliflower crust. You cannot go wrong with either, but I prefer the traditional crust. As I have said many times, great Chicago pizza comes down to three things - the crust, the sauce, and toppings! Vero has the perfect pizza sauce - absolutely love it! And the toppings - fresh, high-quality toppings that I double up on! My only wish is that they offered different sizes of their gluten-free crust because a 10" pizza is just not enough to share with anyone else, so I always end up having to order two pizzas... and that gets expensive! I will continue to order from Vero because it's so damn good! Overall rating: *****FIVE STARS***** Gluten-free rating: ****FOUR STARS****

Wonderfully delicious Chicago deep dish pizza! We had ours with sausage, basil, Roma tomatoes, and olives. We also had a side of meatballs with hot giardiniera. The crust was golden brown and somehow both crispy and doughy. The sauce was just a little tangy and not too salty - just right! Adding fresh basil as a topping provided a bet of herby greenness to the mix. The meatballs were pretty good and the hot gardiniera added a spicy pop - almost too spicy for some of my dining partners. If you're in Arizona and craving Chicago style pizza, this is the place!

A commendation from a friend told me to try this place. The recommendation was spot on. My gf got the deep dish pizza and I had the BYO Calzone with black olives, sausage, Canadian bacon and basil. It was all amazing. As we walked in there was nobody in the place as we walked in about 10 mins after they opened for afternoon service. The wait staff was amazing. She knew her stuff and her drinks and hit them spot on. Even other wait staff was helping out. The whole area was clean and in order. I will definitely be back. This place was amazing

Great family owned restaurant! Happy hour daily on food and drinks! Lots of parking! We had pizza and wings and the thin crust pizza was fresh. They also offer giardiniera peppers! There is about 20-35 seats in the restaurant and the bar. We will definitely be back!

Wow! Great deep dish pizza! Service was friendly. Ambiance was sit down and eat very clean. Best small pizza place for deep dish near Phoenix

We've been in the valley for 11 years, only recently learned about Vero. We're recovering Chicagoans and grew up on some of the best pizza taste buds could enjoy but Arizona was lacking in tavern-style, thin-crust pizza, some came close but Vero is spot on. The flavor is consistent and I appreciate the fact that the sausage has fennel in it to give it a bit more kick. If you're looking for the real-deal, check out Vero, you won't be disappointed!

Love the feel of this pizza place. Except it's more than just a pizza place. The spinach ricotta dip and cocktails really kicked up my experience on my dougie-mama date (although I've been told my seven year old is officially too old to call it a date now). Regardless, the food was fantastic, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was great. I can't wait to come back! I will definitely be getting another "it's a dry heat" cocktail and I can't wait to try a new flavor deep dish!

In the ten years I've lived in Arizona this is truly the best pizza I've had down here! This little place has great ambiance and the service from the ladies was amazing! Fast, friendly and attentive!

We ordered two orders of wings and a thin crust pizza for takeout. Unfortunately, the wings were disappointing--dry and clearly cooked from frozen, which affected the texture and flavor. The pizza, on the other hand, was hot and tasty. However, the cheese and toppings separated from the crust, lacking that satisfying "cheese pull" and cohesion. I'd rate the wings a C- and the pizza a B. I'd give the pizza another try, but I wouldn't order anything else from here. Deep dish is overrated, do not recommend.

Great service and yummy pizza! I think I saw AZ foodie posted about this place and I had it bookmarked so my husband, son, and I came to try it out! The dining area was smaller than expected, only a couple tables and then the bar area, but luckily there was a table that worked for us! The service was wonderful and they were super accommodating for our almost 1 year old! Love that the pizzas have fun Chicago landmark names, as that is where my family lives! We just got a cheese one this time and cheesy garlic bread. My husband wished we got the butter crust since he likes the cheese on top better, but we were still happy with our order. Crust is slightly salty which was yummy. I thought it tasted a bit plain so next time I'd get toppings. My son was real into the garlic bread. Pricing was super reasonable for the amount of food we got, brought a ton of pizza home. We would totally come again!

I can't find good tavern thin crust pizza in SFL for the life of me. This place popped up while I'm here for work, so naturally I had to check it out. Got the Wrigley Field - italian beef, sausage, green pepper, & onion plus giardiniera (obv). It was so good. The delicious seasonal old fashioned is just the cherry on top! Service was great. Highly recommend!

The sausage was sliced instead of a free form piece of sausage, but it was still amazing. You could see a piece of fennel seed in the slice which gave it so much flavor along with the pepperoni. The crust was thin at center and then built up to a puff on the rim that was so flaky like a croissant. The crust just kept building to the flavor profile. When we placed our order, I asked the employee to explain their sauces. She described them all and then said the cherry hot pepper sauce was her favorite. The sauce put the pizza to the next level. If you like crushed pepper seeds on your pizza, this sauce is a must and so much better with fresh peppers. The employees were super friendly and explained everything and answered all our questions as first time visitors. They all worked together and impressed on us that they enjoyed working there. It was a nice day, so we sat outside. The sunshades could be bigger to put out more shade, but that was all forgotten with the first bite of pizza. I will definitely return. I will be attempting to copy the cherry hot pepper jam, so yummy.

Located on the main drag of downtown Mesa you can eat inside or on the patio. There aren't servers, instead, you order at the front desk. The menu has a variety of options, mostly pizza (both classics and signature pies). There is also a bar area where you can grab a pint or two of local brews The interior was electric with people enjoying pizza, locations, watching the Olympics, and just unwinding for the day. We ordered a salad and a couple of pizzas. The salad came out first, and the pizzas weren't far behind Being a self-proclaimed pizza snob, the pizza was fine. It wasn't overly flavorful, and it didn't blow me away, but it also didn't disappoint. The salad was LOADED with toppings, and I was somewhat impressed there. Unfortunately, polling the group, the beer was slightly lackluster. But again, this spot is a fun vibe and is great if you want to hang out for a bit and enjoy a brewery/pizza parlor type atmosphere Some tips: When you're done with your drinks and meal consider walking down the Main Street and stopping by one of their many bars, museums, and other eateries There isn't a lot of parking off the main drag, but we were fortunate enough to find parking on a few different occasions Cheers!

We made reservations at Pizzicata in anticipation of both Valentine's Day and the need to re-carb after the event. We arrived at the host stand a few minutes before our reservation, but were told that there were no indoor tables available. If we wanted to be seated immediately, we'd have to accept an outdoor table, even though we had a reservation for indoor seating. We opted to wait because the weather was chilly by Arizona standards, and we were still recovering from the race. A couple of minutes later, another hostess approached us and asked whether we had reservations and were waiting. When we confirmed, she immediately left to find us a table, and we were seated very shortly afterwards. I thought very little of this until the owner came to our table and apologized for the issue. He was kind and sincere in his regret for the situation and was excited to tell us about the staff and the food. We were wildly appreciative of this attention to detail and service! We shared the potato croquettes, and they were everything I was hoping they'd be and more. (Light lore: I chose Pizzicata because I saw a picture of these croquettes on their online menu.) For dinner, my husband had the Travolta pizza, and I had the gnocchi gorgonzola. We both did that thing where we sat back in our chairs, breathed deeply, and declared, "oh dang, that's goooood." We were both so happy with our choices - I can't speak to the pizza, but that was some of the best gnocchi I've ever had. Pillowy soft in this perfectly nutty, cheesy, creamy sauce. *chef's kiss* For dessert, we shared the tiramisu, which was perfect in every way. If we weren't already walking funny because of the race, we'd have still waddled out of Pizzicata from happy fullness. The service, the food, the vibe - we're here for it and we'll be back the next time we're in Mesa.

She immediately told us the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes (we arrived at 7:19 and they close at 8), which already made the experience feel a bit rushed. We ordered a deep dish pepperoni and sausage pizza, a Caesar salad, fries, and water. The salad and fries came out quickly and were good, but we waited until 7:52 for the pizza. During that time, several staff members including what seemed to be a manager, were loudly yelling back and forth across the restaurant about staffing and schedules. With no music or TV volume, it was impossible not to hear, and it felt very unprofessional. Meanwhile, our water glasses sat empty. I had to ask three separate times for refills, and the third time I actually had to get up and find our server at the bar, where she was sitting, still discussing the schedule. When the pizza finally arrived, it was delicious. But basic things like Parmesan and pepper weren't offered. I had to flag someone down to ask. And even though we'd just received our food, the lights on the patio were turned off while we were eating, and we were brought a box very quickly, which felt like a not-so-subtle hint to leave. Overall, the food was good, but the customer service and atmosphere really took away from what should have been a nice birthday dinner for my daughter. Very disappointing experience.
