We finally gave in and said, "Hey, it's a Friday evening. Let's treat ourselves and give Slice House a try. Good call by us!! There were people waiting, people eating, and people in line. We figured that was part of the deal because of the place's popularity, and that was OK. It was a beautiful evening and we were watching Artemis 2 splash down. The line moved nicely and gave us time to drool on the display cases and learn about the multitude of offerings. We got one slice each -- pepperoni and a Grandma Style Sweet Gino. Did they immediately pull them from the display and hand them over? Nope. They gave us a buzzer that looked like a miniature cell phone. That was fine -- the astronauts were still in the capsule. Ten or fifteen minutes later our "phone" rang and lit up, and soon the slices were ours. They were good in every way. Hot, fresh, large, perfect crust, and so, so tasty. We ate in the car while we watched more of Artemis 2 and celebrated the successful mission with a successful dining experience. We will be back, and we won't wait for Artemis 3. Waited till after the grand opening crowd died down to come experience this place! It's an order at the counter & the line moves fairy quickly, so not a lot of time to decide. LOL However, staff was friendly, attentive and gave us the run down of how to order. Our cashier broke down all the styles of pizza and gave some recommendations. I ordered the wiseguy slice and the Detroit square style sweet Gino. Both were really good & not greasy. To my surprise, I actually preferred the detroit version as with the bubbly crisp cheesy edges & the crunchy texture of that tasty dough- it was a stand out for sure! A few other peeps in are party got the same and a few different variations ( see pics) everyone was pleased with their pizzas. A plus- slices are huge, so worth the money. I had leftovers! Down side- they charge for ranch 2.0 oz .75 cents and their side of vodka sauce 2.0 oz $1.50 & it wasn't that great. Drinks are an additional fee and was really bummed they were out of their peach lemonade (which sat empty) as a choice for a beverage. Nice patio seating and some seating inside, but based on time both can be limited. It was difficult to get to and from the condiment station in store when we were there. It was pretty convenient to stop in for a slice of pizza, I liked all the readily available choices. Staff is extremely friendly and available to help. Restaurant was very clean, which is so important to me. But... I do believe I need to try and order a fresh pizza before I agree or disagree with all the hype. This pizza was AWESOME!!!!! We ordered by the slice and got the Rosa (deep dish with marinara and pepperoni coins), Traditional (deep dish with pepperoni coins and sausage) and a slice of pepperoni. The inside is very small and was limited seating, so we sat outside. If you don't find a seat inside, I recommend it to-go, especially since it's getting hot out. Feedback, mine could of been a little hotter, my marinara sauce was still a cold to the touch, I would of preferred to take it home and re-heat it myself. Slice House came up as a new spot nearby, so we had to check it out for Saturday lunch. There's a decent amount of parking in the lot. Inside the restaurant, you order at the counter for dine in or to-go. There are a few tables if you're dining there, but it seems most people take their orders to-go. They have a variety of pizza options already prepared if you want to purchase by the slice, otherwise their full menu is also available. Since it was our first time, we wanted to get a few different pizzas to try. We got the Pop's Special, Motörhead, Sweet Gino, and the Tomato Pie. Pop's was probably the most unexpected, with the sliced chicken cutlet, bacon, ranch, green onions, hot sauce, and hot honey. While I thought the chicken was overcooked, the pizza overall had a good flavor. My favorite of the four was the Sweet Gino with the sweet tomato sauce, two kinds of mozzarella, and basil. The crust was super light and crispy, I'd definitely get this again. The Tomato Pie was a pretty basic cheese pizza slice and the Motörhead was like a twist on meat lovers with salami, pepperoni, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and cheese. They had me at cup and crisp pepperoni Slice house brings an east coast flavor to the pizza game in Gilbert. When you walk in, you have an option to select from several types of pizza. I like this because there regularly sized pizzas are a bit pricey so you want to make sure first. My favorite of course is the pepperoni pizza. A little greasy but it's delicious. The slice sizes are larger, so it's almost like you are getting 2 slices. I was full after getting one, it's perfect for lunch. I tried another pizza that had some chicken and white sauce, and their traditional ( pep and sausage), but it was the pepperoni for me. The staff was super pleasant and helpful with making options. I always welcome a pizza place that offers the opportunity to order up slices and Slice House gives you the chance to do so with great variety. They seem to have Sicilian, New York, Detroit style and Grandma style pizza available every day in different iterations. As far as I can tell you can order up a slice from the pizzas that are made or you can order your own pizza and wait longer. My family and I each tried a different style of slice. My Sweet Gino (grandma style) was tasty. I especially liked the fresh mozzarella on it. My only concern here is that there is very limited indoor seating and it gets snatched up quickly. They have a nice patio but there aren't enough umbrellas for all of the tables. We visited on a hot evening and were roasting out there. Maybe they could add more umbrellas or I don't know if a misting system is too expensive. Maybe I've been living inside a pizza box but I'd never heard of this place until a week ago when a Yelp friend posted images from a pre-Grand Opening event in Gilbert...right up the road from me! Checking out more about Slice House's origins and their 13-time world pizza champion owner Tony Gemignani I knew I should check it out the hour it opens! I arrived right at 11am on Saturday for their Grand Opening and the line was already around the corner of the building. This gave me time to figure out what slice to get for myself and which slice to take home to my wife. Employees were handing out water and talking about their business which made the wait feel shorter. Once inside I noticed the place isn't too large, about 6-8 tables and a small counter seating. They also have patio seating with large umbrellas. I ended up ordering 4 slices because I want to sample each style of pizza. I ordered (1) Detroit style Motorhead (Saturday special), (1) NY style Wiseguy, (1) Grandma Sweet Gino and (1) Sicilian Traditional. Despite the hundreds of people it didn't take long to get my slices and head home. I ended up eating 2 of the 4 slices myself as my wife had the Traditional and my son ate the Sweet Gino. They both enjoyed their slices. I was firing on all cylinders as I ate the Motorhead Detroit style slice...it was huge! The dough was so good (firm but airy)! Usually Detroit pizzas are heavy but this one was perfect. The toppings were all of the highest quality and I could taste the pizza love in each bite. I also ate the NY style Wiseguy pizza. The ricotta dollops and the sweet and spicy sausage made this a true winner. Reading their take-home menu I want to try pretty much every single specialty pizza they make. Hubby & I had dinner here last night. We got there a little before 5:00 & it was already packed. It is small inside. There are a few tables inside. They also have tables with umbrellas outside. You order when you walk in. You get a stand with a number if you are eating there, or a buzzer for take out. There have several pizzas to order from. They are large slices & run through the oven when you pick what you want. Those come out quickly. They didn't have slices of the pizzas so we ordered 12 inch pizzas. We also got an order of garlic bread. The girl who took our order told us it would be 15 minutes for the garlic bread & 35-45 minutes for the pizzas. We weren't expecting that, but we wanted the pizzas we wanted so we waited. The garlic bread didn't look like it was cooked enough, but it was & it was good. The sauce that came with it was really good. Hubby ordered a 12 inch Detroit Motörhead. I ordered the 12 inch chicken, bacon, ranch. We shared a large fountain drink. Since we waited 50 minutes for the pizzas, we had a long time to observe the staff. The staff is friendly, welcoming & thankful for the business . The owner stood making pizza boxes, wiping down tables, talking with the customers & filling in wherever needed. The reason for only 4 stars is in my opinion it is too pricey for the amount of food. Although the food was good, 2 pizzas, an order of garlic bread & a found drink was $70+ before the tip. Would I come back? Yes. Was it the greatest pizza experience I've ever had? No. Was it good for quick, by-the-slice pizza? Yes. So, going in with reasonable expectations, I give this place 4 stars for the "by the slice" experience. I imagine that this could be different for the "full pie" experience, so take my opinion from that perspective. There is not enough seating space inside the shop to worth mentioning, so plan to sit outside in their patio area or take it to go -- which seemed to the the most popular option the night we visited. Even if we could have agreed on a whole pizza, it would have been at least 40 minutes to get it. The new place was that popular and I am happy for them. For a family of people who each like different things, this is a good place. Each of us had a different style of pizza, each choosing from the available daily special slices in the various styles. I had the Detroit style and it was good. Not the same as ordering a fresh pie all to yourself (IYKYK: hot and crispy, caramelized cheese on the edges), but still solid as a reheated slice. The others in the group had the Grandma or Sicilian style: the consensus was that they were all solid offerings and that coming back to try a full pizza in the future, once the popularity wanes a bit is reasonable. Stopped by Slice House by Tony Gemignani to try a few different items and overall it was an okay first visit. The shop has a clean, casual slice-spot vibe and the energy inside was great. What really stood out though was the customer service. The staff were awesome, super friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed happy to help. It made the whole experience feel a lot more personal than your typical grab-a-slice place. I tried the hot chicken slice, the Detroit Motorhead slice, and the meatballs. The hot chicken slice had a great crunch and a nice spicy kick, but it was a little on the greasy side. Still enjoyable and I'd rate it around a 7.5. The Detroit Motorhead slice had an incredible crust with that classic Detroit-style crunch, but the overall flavor felt a bit muted, so I'd put that closer to a 6. The surprise winner for me was the meatballs. Really well seasoned and tender, easily an 8, though the sauce could use a little more depth. Pizza was average at best, nothing spectacular as was led to expect with all the "award winning" hype. Better pizza is found at Vero's up the street or even at Costco. IF the pizza was a fresh pie instead of pre-cooked and rewarmed I might have a diff review. Caesar salad had a good dressing but a fairly bland and not unique Caesar otherwise. This restaurant had a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating had giant umbrellas too. This is a Pepsi location in case that's important too your visit. Now the pizza, wow! The crust was nice and crisp. And not all sweet, the sauce was thick and the toppings overflowed. Also the slices are huge! I only needed one to get full. Hubs had two, we saved the rest for supper. I will definitely return, the meatballs were served hot hot and again the sauce was thick and not sweet which I really appreciate. I had a wonderful experience. If you're looking for a quick giant slice this could be your spot. The service was quick and there's seating inside and out. I ordered the sausage and hot honey slices which was ok but the one that really stood out was the pop special. I never like chicken on pizza but it was delicious and tender. The best flavor. I would get that next time I come. The crust is thin but stable which is good for picking up to eat. You can order side sauces and salads. We also ordered a chocolate chip cookie which is a pass. We could smell the delicious pizza smell as we walked through the parking lot and got even more excited. We had initially planned on ordering a pizza and eating it there but with how busy it was and the options for slices, we decided to order slices to go. There were 9 pizzas to select slices from and all looked really good. We decided on the Pop's Special, the Little Italy Detroit style, the Traditional Detroit style , and the Wiseguy. The hands down favorite was the Little Italy. The crust was delicious and all the flavors were amazing. I think what helped make the Little Italy was the extra sauce on top. The Pop's Special had Nashville hot chicken cutlets on it and we expected it to be somewhat spicy but it wasn't. It was more like Nashville mild chicken. The Traditional and the Wiseguy were okay but nothing special. Maybe it would have been better if we had ordered a full pizza and it was made fresh. Worth the hype but it's pricey! As a New Yorker, I love seeing pizza by the slice in AZ (albeit this chain hails from Cali) but prepared to pay $7 a slice! They offer a multitude of options including Detroit style, NY style and Sicilian pizza, vegan and gluten free as well whole pie options. It was a busy Friday night and service was friendly and much quicker than expected. I love that they have indoor and outdoor seating options as well. We live in nearby Mesa but heard about the grand opening by way of Instagram. We made a point of getting there before 11 AM and were down the line near One Stop Nutrition. This was a spectacular grand opening in many ways. We got menus long before the doors opened. Megan brought us small bottles of Costco water - necessary on a warm AZ day. Everyone from the store and from corporate went above and beyond to make the event terrific. Once we got in, we were amazed by the feel, the decor, and we definitely knew we were in an Italian pizzeria. Fantastic with just enough artwork high on the walls. "Trust the Craft" on the ordering wall let you know it was a Tony Gemignani joint. We ordered a Combo Americano, 3 meatballs, and 2 Mango lemonades. We got to meet Tony himself, and he even signed our copy of his book. He was so nice and he thanked us for being there. Definitely our new favorite pizza place in AZ. I was super excited to try this place, but I have to say, probably one of the most disappointing experiences I've had in a while. When I got there the line was long, but not like when it opened, it was just to the inside of the door. When I got to the counter, I ordered 3 slices of the honey hot pepperoni pizza and 3 meatballs. When I ordered, they had a whole pie in the display. The meatballs came out in about 2 minutes, but I stood waiting for my pizza slices. Mind you, I didn't order a whole pie. After about 15 minutes I asked where my slices were and she said they're working on it. I waited another 20 minutes and someone finally came over and asked what my order was, probably because at this point I've been waiting almost 40 minutes for 3 slices of pizza and was getting irritated. Everyone else who ordered after me was getting their orders, but my buzzer never went off, maybe they forgot about me? Finally someone approached me and said they "oversold" the hot honey pepperoni pizza slices, like they were selling seats on Southwest Airlines. She asked if I wanted something else and I said no, how much longer? I was told 20 minutes. Absolute joke. I finally got my pizza slices and sadly they were not good. They were stacked two slices to a container, they were completely covered in grease and oil, soggy, and had zero taste of honey and zero taste of anything hot. I guess when you're just trying to pump out product to catch up, quality goes in the shitter. It was not pleasant. And because it took so long, the meatballs were cold. And the sauce they used for the meatballs looked and tasted like they just opened up a can of tomato paste and dumped it on. The whole thing was forgettable, and overpriced. I hope one day they get their crap together and find a way to actually serve some decent slices in a reasonable time. Mind you this wasn't even one of those busy days where the line was out the door. We have missed Tony's pizza so much! Moving here from San Francisco over 10 years ago, Tony's was a regular spot for us. I even have friends and former roommates who worked at his North Beach location, so there are a lot of great memories and good times connected to it. We've been waiting for this location to open, and it definitely did not disappoint We came in on a Thursday afternoon. It was busy, but we didn't have to wait long at all. There were lots of slices to choose from. They offer several slices daily, along with a daily Detroit-style special and a regular special. I ordered the Bucatini with meat sauce, and we also had the bacon and arugula salad, three cannolis dressed with sprinkles, pistachios, and chocolate chips, a slice of pepperoni, and a slice of chicken bacon ranch. Tony didn't disappoint, and neither did his staff. Everyone was welcoming and attentive. You can tell the staff enjoys their jobs, know the menu, and is treated very well. They already seem to have regulars, which says a lot. Prices are reasonable and the portions are great! The atmosphere is welcoming and inviting. Tony even held one of his regular contests that he does when opening a new location, where people submit designs for pizza boxes. At this location, an elementary school student from a local school was chosen as the winner The location is extremely clean, including the bathrooms. There is also outdoor seating available. I've been going to the original north beach SF restaurant for 13 years, and loved the slice house next door for convenience when the wait was hours long at the pizzeria. We just ate at the original slice house in November 4 times (it's my pilgrimage when in SF). So needless to say, I was ecstatic when I learned there was going to be a franchise right up the road. We were out there lined up opening day, and the speed and efficiency that they took with that many people was stunning. A well run concept, and the food is on par with the original. We've been back 3 times already, and the only small disappointment was trying the meatball sub, which while still good, needed a little more time in the oven to really melt the cheese and get a little color on the bread. But I've talked to the franchise owner, and he seems to genuinely want to make this the best it can be, and I told him I'm going to let him know if it slips. My highest recommendation. No longer do we have to endure mid tier pizza at Venezia's, or overpriced pies at Vito's in the area. Everything else is mere mortals, while Tony's Slice House sits on Olympus. read more

The pizza was really good and the topping were very fresh. We got the large 20" New York Americano and it was huge! I slice completely covered our dinner plate. I gave it 4 stars only because we were not allowed to add extra cheese being advised because there were too many toppings already on the pizza and second because I did request extra sauce but there was actually very little on the pizza at all, even seemed like it would have been considered sparse. Slice House absolutely nailed it. I ordered POP's Special and it was phenomenal--easily one of the best pizzas I've had in a while. The flavors were spot on, and you can tell they really care about the quality of what they're serving. The only downside is the seating. Indoor space is very limited, and with Arizona heat, sitting outside isn't always a great option. If you're planning to dine in, just be prepared for that. My wife and I stopped for dinner at about 8:00 pm. We ordered two slices of pizza and a salad to share. The pizza was good and was delivered to our table very promptly. We canceled the salad order about 15 minutes after finishing the pizza because it was not ready. Overall, good pizza but the operation didn't seem to run very efficiently. read more

Opening day here at the Slice House was GREAT!! I don't care for pizza, but my husband was so excited to be one of the first 50 to try the Slice I decided to join him... and am SO HAPPY I DID!! We ordered New York style slices of Pop"s Special, Hot Honey, Tomato & The Wise Guy.... Each slice was packed with unique flavor, a crispy crunch to the crust, and tasty cheese!! The Wise Guy has dollops of GREAT ricotta, and the Honey Hot - is just something you have to try!!! I can't believe I'm saying I LOVE pizza - but here at Sice House it's true - iLOVE PIZZA!!! And my husband was SO enjoying it, that we went back again at end of day to get another slice of the Pop's House Special. The owner, management and service team (as well as the cooks in the kitchen) were still on their game after serving up slices non-stop for hours! I've never been a huge pizza fan, I thought all pizza tasted the same UNTIL my boyfriend introduced me to Slice House. I first had it in San Francisco and it was a game changer. The sauce had flavor, the toppings tasted AMAZING and the crust was just perfect. I tend to like pineapple on pizza and Slice House's version is SO DELICIOUS that I can't have it anywhere else because it just doesn't measure up. I am SO HAPPY they've opened up a location in Arizona!!!! Went opening day and it tastes just like the pizza from SF! I've been there four times since they've opened, I love their pizza! Every time I've been there the wait has been about three to five minutes. HIGHLY recommend Slice House to anyone that even remotely likes pizza. read more
