This is usually the T-Mobile store we visit when we need something, even though we live 120 miles…read moreaway because it's right by the Valley Mall and most of the other places we go in town. We've never had bad service there before yesterday. Yesterday, we went in to upgrade my husband's phone. While everything went smoothly, the sales girl was extremely pushy and didn't listen to reason (do we want insurance? Um, no...he's upgrading a phone that was top of the line 8 months ago when he bought it, and if he breaks his new toy, he can go back to using his old one, thanks. She kept pushing and looked at me like I had 9 heads because I didn't want to insure a $600 phone....because seriously, while sure, the insurance is only $8 a month, it's not like they'll replace the phone for free if he breaks it or loses it....it'll still cost over $100. Even my husband agrees that if there's an extra phone in the house, there is no need to pay for the insurance because if you're dumb enough to lose or break your phone, you deserve to not have it.). She highly recommended a screen protector that I've heard horrible reviews of, and I even commented as such, but my husband didn't seem to mind the feel of it, and then she insisted we let her install it, touting the fact that she's really good at it because she does it all the time, and then put it on crooked with a ripple in one of the corners. Oh, and my husband's new phone was $30 more in store than it was on T-Mobile's website....which I suppose is ok because it's not like anyone was holding a gun to our heads to buy it in-store instead of ordering it and waiting for it to be shipped (and shipping probably would've eaten most of that difference anyway, I assume). That didn't bother me so much as the sales girl pushing the fact that in store, you get an $80 mail in rebate, where online you only get $50. I laughed and told her that yeah, but online the phone is $30 cheaper, so it doesn't really matter, right? I don't know. Overall, I like this store, and I LOVE T-Mobile and I would have left 5 stars, but yesterday just left a bad taste in my mouth. I feel like when you make a point to go to a specific location based on the customer service you've had in the past, go into the store having done your research and knowing *EXACTLY* what you want and spend almost $400 to obtain it, they shouldn't treat you like a mindless sheep.

Instead of trying to find a solution or even looking into the account details, the manager acted like assisting a customer was too much effort. It's clear this location cares nothing about customer retention or basic professional courtesy. If you need actual help with your service, save yourself the time and frustration and go to a different branch. A store is only as good as its leadership, and currently, this one is worthless.

So I walk in and the gawd damned room has changed again--these sunsabiches are worse then the apple store with changing layouts quicker than you know what... I walked it, couldnt figure out how to get any damn service as theres no line, no number to take and no one really running the show. Some folks might find this approach modern and attractive but Im not a fan which is why I took one star away from the rating. I wandered around nervously looking at ipads, smart phones while checking out each associate to see who's in charge and who I need to make the awkward eye contact with in order to summons the help from the divine At&t gods in the form of a nicely mannered beardo, I forget his name but if I were a bettin' man I'd say it was Lance, Chad or Steve...I'm not just trying to be funny, but I really cant remember his name. We talk about my options, I want the iphone7 in matte black in 128g which the inner-webs says are not in stock in this store but the inner-webz are liars and this kind man had the sucker in stock waiting for me to claim it for the budget cost of 750.00 along with contract extensions and tax. I think I paid close to 1000 for the 128g 6s a couple years ago... so the price drop in higher capacity phones is well-appreciated. The guru made subtle a attempt to sell accessories and was easily directed to getting my order wrapped up and out-the-door. He helped the setup of the new phone which ran flawless and I was on my merry way in less than an hour. This location always has ample parking, its never packed inside and the folks working their truly like their positions and they give a HUGE discount for Providence employees.

Then watched this same employee assist a customer who had zero appointment before again standing against the wall for several more minutes just spacing out. Finally, about 20-30 minutes later this same employee appeared to "snap out of it" and finally came over to assist me after I'd been sitting at the Genius Bar for 45 minutes. There was no one else being assisted at the bar and the store was not that busy. Not impressed with the support in this store. However, they did do an excellent job with the necessary repairs I went in to get fixed.

I spent a total of FOUR HOURS. stretched across 2 days, going back-and-forth between Apple phone techs, the carrier, back to Apple, back to the carrier..... After a frustrating rant at the two, I was directed to the "Genius Bar" at the Apple Store in River Park Square. Well, thank GOD they did! I was impressed the moment I walked in. I was greeted, my appointment was in the system along with the long case log. They directed me to "Karen" who immediately was able to unlock and wipe the new phone to its factory settings. After some skillful diagnostics, she was able to determine the problem was in the restoration sequence from the old phone. From there she was able to revive the new phone and get it to working status. Yes, I would have to reinstall my apps again, but I don't care. They said they would order a "backup" phone in case this one dies again. But, I think it's going to be fine. Thanks to the team at the Genius Bar - especially Karen, who was patient, efficient and personable. My thanks, also, to the store manager (sorry, I didn't get his name) for his understanding and compassion. The store is bright and lively with plenty of helpful, knowledgeable staff moving about taking care of whoever walks in. If you ever have a need for service on any of your Apple devices, or you're looking for top drawer products and service, this is the place to go.

However, I am writing this review because of their shady practices when cancelling services. I needed to switch providers since they offer no international coverage when you travel out of the country and need to call home. I called to get my account, transfer pin and let Metro know I would be cancelling services. This is important because upon doing this I was not considered a customer anymore. Fast forward a day later and I am setting up my new service only to be stopped because Metro locked my phone. The new provider cannot do anything unless Metro unlocks it. I try to call, but the customer service line does not answer unless you're a customer. I go into a store and the store manager will not help and tells me the only way they will unlock the phone is if I call customer service but know they won't answer unless I am a customer. I told him that is not right. He told me to buy a new phone and sell the old one. He also justified customer service's refusal to talk to me by saying "they have to spend 20-30 minutes on the phone and since you are not a customer, that's dollars." I bought my phone; I should be able to use it for whatever service I want if it is compatible with a new carrier. I have never left a bad review for any company before, but this should be illegal.
