Working with Jake was simply refreshing. After a two hour phone call to Verizon prior to end of year and reporting that the sales person who works at the Verizon store simply lied to me and told me she was giving me a promotion (she did not give any promotion), things were a mess. I simply asked Jake what could be done to correct this horrible experience (I have only had Verizon service since the "beginning" honest. I was in with my old phone (had offered it as trade in but had been refused, more than once) and told I would have a 2x credit adjustment next month and that my bill would be decreased by 2/3 after that. The Verizon Accounting Dept is out of control. I tried to put myself on Auto billing, entered my bank acct #, etc, waited for the billing to occur. Unknown to me, the process ended without telling me anything. After my bill should have ben paid automatically, I received a notice saying my bill was late. When I called, Cust Serv said that my app for Auto billing did not go thru, because my Bank acct # was "not found". Hmmm. Asked them what # did they use, they said we don't know, it's deleted right away. Hmmmm. Moreover, my acct has a FREEZE on it, preventing any attempt to get onto Auto pay (for 6 months) because my acct # was "not found". So, here I am, can't get on auto billing, and it's their fault, not mine. Worse, they think I'm a deadbeat, and they have me on a freeze. I asked to talk to the Acct'ing dept, no dice. Talked with a higher level Cust Serv person, who talked and talked, suggested that he give me a discount similiar to the auto pay discount, THRU FEB, WHEN THE FREEZE WILL EXPIRE. How STUPID can these people be? It is CLEAR to me that if the Cust Serv people could have helped, they would have. When I suggested that they simply put me in contact witht he Accting person(s), they evaded and made weak excuses. IF VERIZON CAN PUT ME IN CONTACT WITH THE ACCTING DEPT, and take a reasonable remedial action, I will withdraw my complaint. Otherwise, I will continue to believe that Verizon is the the most BUREAUCRATICALLY CONSTIPATED company I have ever encountered as a consumer. Went into the store to replace an older Orbic portable Hotspot (Jetpack) which unfortunately met its demise. I was on a pre-paid plan but was convinced to go on a post-paid plan. The salesperson said the Jetpack would cost less and so would my monthly payments as well as other "perks". I purchased the device and tried to connect it to my computer. It did not give me a signal. The salesperson said there was bad reception in the store. He plugged it in to charge it, thinking that it would then be charged and worked. I asked why there was a big red X over a picture of a batter while it was charging. He said it was charging. After about 15 minutes I said, well, if it's plugged in, you shouldn't even need the battery, only to find out that they never put the battery in in the first place (which was a waste of time because the battery always comes partially charged. After two hours, purchasing and trying to get the connection for the Hotspot, I had to leave. I asked him if it didn't work, I could return it. He said "YES". On the way home, I called customer service at Verizon. "Carlos" was very helpful and intent on helping me. Long story short, I was on the phone with him for 3 f***** hours! Apparently, the sim card that comes with the device was not registered! There was no way for it to work!! He managed to get me a salesperson who could get me a new one. After another 30-60 minutes on the phone with this guy who was trying to sell me other stuff that I did not want!, I purchased the jetpack and was told to pick it up an a "COMPANY STORE" and I could return the other phone there. The only problem was, now I was paying more for the service $95/mo. as opposed to the $80 I was paying as I go and I could not get a cheaper (less gb plan) than 100gb, same as I had before. The next day (yesterday) I went to pick up my phone. Not the nicest salesgirl but I was in and out in 10 minutes and it was working! The only thing was that I could not return the other phone because I had purchased it from a "privately owned Verizon Store". So I had to go back to that store to return it. Okay, another hour of my time... The person who helped me, Numan, was very nice and was trying to help but "The System" did not allow him to refund the "Activation Fee" of $35 so I had to walk out of there after 8 to 10 hours of wasted time, incompetent people, albeit nice and trying to help, a privately owned store, a company that has too many departments that don't communicate with each other... Ultimate Frustration! On the bright side, I got something that works and, no doubt, things could have been worse! In the future, if you go to a Verizon Store, make sure it is Company owned. More importantly, when there was a minor glitch on the first bill, I called him right away, and he fixed it right away. I went to pre-order the iPhone 11 Pro 256GB. I was told by Verizon representative Christian: 1. The cost of the phone is $1100. 2. I could trade in my iPhone 6S for $100, even after showing him the crack on the screen. 3. I could avoid a $100 fee by using a loan, instead of paying for it outright. He said to get around the $100 fee, I could finance $1 and pay the remaining $1099 by credit card. He would set that up immediately, so I wouldn't need to wait upon pickup. When I went to pick up the phone, I spent 3 hours there dealing with the following: 1. The cost of the phone is actually $1160, a difference of $60. 2. The trade in value of my phone is $31, a difference if $69. 3. Additional service fees of $35 and a $40 upgrade fee, a difference of $75. 4. The loan being set-up incorrectly. That's a difference of $204. Because of not being told of the $35 service fee, representative Ozzie waived it and gave me 10% off of the case that I purchased there, which amounted was $4. I called Verizon corporate to complain. They gave me a $100 credit, which means I still paid $165 more than I was told originally, plus aggravation, with a 3 hour wait. When I tried to contact the store, the number on the receipt is wrong, so I have no means of contacting the store owner to remedy the situation. I am beyond frustrated. I've gone to this location a couple times, most recently, I came here during Covid times to buy a new iPhone. They had me wait in my car until they could take me inside, which I actually preferred and did not mind one bit. The guy who helped me realized quickly that I'm a no frills, in&out kinda gal lol he quickly rang me up and I was in and outta there in under 10 minutes. That's the kinda quick service I am always needing, I appreciate that he didn't try to tack on a buncha bs I didn't need and would've rejected anyway had he offered them. The worst experience. Every Verizon I go there is alway a problem. My SIM card was not working and they couldn't even change it for me. So I did trade in but I had to have the phone delivered. When I came to pick it up after work, there were only to people serving other people. They didn't bother to greet me. I spent more than hours waiting and I asked them twice if I can just have my phone. They told me that they will give me as soon as they free. One guy was transferring 7 lines and another guy was talking about nothing with his customer. One guy also was going to reception to pick up phone and talk to customers. Pathetic experience!! Seemed like the guy was just in a hurry to go back home. I visited the store today to port my number from another carrier and the store guy input the wrong IMEI number and told me my iPhone 8 Plus was incompatible. I asked him to double check what he input but he refused and started giving me unnecessary attitude. I went back home and checked my IMEI number on the Verizon website and it said that my device is compatible! Recently, my son, my daughter, and I have been displaced from our home due to a neighbor starting a fire and we've lost a lot from this whole ordeal. After dealing with this distressing circumstance, I decided to switch providers to set up my Wi-Fi for my new home at Verizon for the deals, especially since funds are minimal since we're planning to buy more furniture due to our old ones being burnt. Explaining the whole thing to Matthew, the store manager at the Skokie location, he assured me that I would receive a great savings deal with the Wi-Fi & cell services. That we'd be able to trade-in our phones at an $1000 value, do a monthly installment plan for the remainder, and it'd be an easy process and everyone walks away with a new phone for switching to Verizon. My son was helped by the associate Patrick who had a smug attitude during my time there and when my daughter had arrived afterwards, she was assured by him that her phone qualified for an even exchange for a brand new phone, even with having a cracked phone (small crack on the lower end of the phone). That all she had to do was have the funds for the activation fee, the phone case, and whatever else was necessary. My son had paid $160 for everything related to his phone, and Matthew assured us the process for my daughter would be the same, however by the following Friday due to not having the money at the moment until payday. During the middle of the week, Matthew had called me to assure me that he would get us a great deal for my daughter's phone since once she switched providers, her phone screen stopped working entirely and can only work being used by her S-pen and that she would spend about as much as my son ($160) for her new phone. The Friday had arrived and I called Matthew around 10 a.m. and double-checked that my daughter would be taken care of with the phone situation. Not only was I placed on hold for 15 minutes by him, but Matthew said that he'd talk to his associate Aisha and she'd help us out with everything since he'd leave work around 3 p.m. and our appointment was at 5 p.m. Later, when my daughter and I arrived, we spoke to Aisha and she said how Matthew never spoke to her or said anything about taking care of us. We were thrown off and snubbed by the fact that Matthew disregarded us, however we proceeded through. The associate Aisha had an attitude throughout the time my daughter and I were there by being short with her words, sarcastic when speaking, and making faces when we countered with our concerns with my daughter's phone. At one point, when the phone situation looked like it was being fixed, Aisha then told us about how if my daughter didn't have $899 on her today, she wouldn't get a new phone. We were never told that at all, not by Matthew or by Patrick and we were thrown off. When Aisha explained how it worked, according to her, my daughter's phone WOULD'VE BEEN $800 (we were promised $1000 for her phone) if it wasn't cracked, however since it was (Matthew & Patrick knew and saw it before this date), it now had a value of $160. I don't understand how Matthew himself said prior that my daughter's phone being cracked wouldn't be an issue, however Aisha said it was. THEN, she pulled up a credit report on MY account that apparently was ran without my knowledge or consent and was approved for $1,500, which is why my son's whole deal with getting a new phone was around $160. I apparently had some credit left available to use (around $300 worth) and I was genuinely thrown since NO ONE, including Matthew, ever said anything about credit being run, approved, and used to get a new phone. He kept talking about it like it was a simple trade-in ($1000 value), the rest of the amount on a payment plan, and pay the remaining fees in store (about $160). After being told this by Aisha, so rudely might I add, my daughter and I left the store. We had the intention to call Matthew on Monday to ask why we weren't informed about the credit run, why we weren't told it was used for my son's phone, why credit was never mentioned by anyone there in the first place, and why it feels like either Patrick, Matthew himself, or Aisha had lied to us about saving money & getting new phones. On Monday, we called the store and Matthew would end up being at another location until Thursday, however we were persistent since my daughter's phone was not working properly and Matthew himself promised her she'd get a new phone with "his help". Thursday comes, and Matthew's in meetings all day, according to the associate there, and we were told to call him Friday since he'd be there from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Well, Friday's comes and my daughter and I are mentally exhausted by this point since we can finally talk to Matthew and see what's going on because on our end, it feels like we were tricked by him. I too thought it was a Verizon Store! Friday September 18 2020. I called the Verizon Store at 9328 Skokie Blvd. Skokie Il 60077, 847-3249640 at 12:23 pm. I asked about my phone and if I needed an appointment. I spoke with Salesman and he told me I needed an appointment. So I made an appointment with him for 1 PM that day. I was on time. There were 2 phones on display. No prices anywhere. I would like to say at this point, although I am extremely unhappy with Salesmans sales skills I think he needs retraining. I would not like anyone to lose their job during this pandemic, but for sure retraining should be on the table. Salesman looked at my phone and we both decided it was beyond repair. A new phone was the only option. When I asked about phones he showed me 3 opened phones, 2 in their boxes. No phones or even pictures of phones on display with or without prices. I chose a phone from an open box. he said it was 930.00. A Google Pixel 4. Salesman transferred my pics and contacts ($35.00 set up Fee) which I was not told about. I thought he was kind and I gave him a 10.00 tip. He brought out a car charger, ( No Price on it). While the data was being transferred he was inputting the prices so I could pay. without seeing the price I signed for the credit card charges and wrote a check for 400.00 toward the cost of the phone. while he was processing that I asked to look at my new phone. I googled the Pixel as I knew nothing about it, and Verizon came up. On the Verizon website it was listed at $899.00. When I asked him about the price difference , he took it to the manager. The manager told him to give me the price on the website. He did not. I have my receipt and it clearly says 930.00. When I finally got home ( I was there for 2 hrs and 45 min) I wanted to charge my phone. When I opened the box there was no charger or usb cord. I called the store and spoke with Salesman. He said it was a mistake come and get it. He gave me a charger and cord. When I got home I realized it was not the charger or cord that went to my phone. I called the store again and spoke to him. He told me I could just return the phone. Really? That's how you fix a problem and retain a customer? After 14 years with Verizon I am more than disappointed. I contacted Customer service On Monday and spoke to Jordan. He called the store and spoke to the manager. He said I could go to the store and pick up my charger. He also asked me to put my complaint in writing. I then called Manager he said they did not have the original but offered me a new charger because they did not have another Pixel 4 phone. I sent my daughter to pick it up. On this past Friday at 10:23 am I received a notification from Google. The store responded to a 5 star review, supposedly from me, on the store and Salesman. I DID NOT give any review, much less a 5 star review. I have been nowhere, my phone has been with me. The review was posted on Saturday the 19th the day after my purchase. I suspect Salesman did the review himself. I called the store around 10;30 and asked for Manager. He was not in yet, however someone from the store had responded to the FAKE review. I deleted the review and changed my password, but I took a screen shot of the review notification. I called later and spoke with Manager explaining my misgivings. He said he would have to check out the other side of the story. He said he could credit my account for the difference of the price on the Verizon website. He would get back to me. I did not hear back from him so I called and left a message at the store Sunday. He did return my call. He told me he still had to check with Google as of today September 30, 2020 1:09 pm I have heard nothing. Now I wonder if Salesman can be retrained. Should Manager be retrained? I dont know but I do know I was targeted because of my age and used by this store. I think this has gone on long enough and I dont need to write anything else. This was such an egregious action on the part of Cellular sales/Verizon. I have not heard back from Verizon regarding complaint. Cellular sales did respond and said Sorry. Really? When we went to this store we just saw that it was a Verizon store But this is a franchise store, not a corporate store so you do not have the items or benefits offered by a corporate Verizon store. We had many issues with the store which ended up costing us a great deal of money. They charged us a $35 per line set up fee (4 phones) which was not disclosed up front.This is in addition to the $40 per line activation fee that Verizon charges. They also charge you for a sim card ($19.99 each) which Verizon says is free at corporate stores. The salesperson sold us a screen protector at $55/per phone (4 phones-$220) which comes with a great warranty, but failed to mention that the warranty is voided if you have the Verizon insurance which we have. And to be effective, this product also needs to be replaced annually at the same cost which was not mentioned. Zagg screen protectors have unlimited replacements for the life of the phone for less money. Who will pay $220 annually to replace screen protectors. Lastly the salesperson told us that if we bought a case/cord/screen protector bundle for $250 we would get a $250 rebate back. It turns out we will get the rebate but that was actually a rebate for adding a 5th line and porting the number, so we did not need to buy their overpriced add on's to get that rebate. Although the salesperson was gracious, he had no power to override all of these fees which showed up as we got the final bill (which he had no power to change) and were ready to leave. He freely admitted that he did not know about the shortcomings of the screen protector and thought the rebate was for the bundle. Clearly much of the issue was lack of knowledge/training of the salesperson. But the owner would not refund the screen covers which are worthless, nor the charges that were not disclosed up front. Verizon did come through and reverse their activation fees but it took a great deal of time and effort to get this accomplished. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE. . read more

My husband needed to purchase a new IPhone during this pandemic. Attempts to order and deliver via online services didn't work. Apple stores were not scheduling appointments. We had questions about data transfer that no one seemed interested in answering. This morning, I received a text from my carrier, Verizon, suggesting that we visit Cellular Service on Skokie Blvd in Skokie. Best suggestion and experience we've ever had. Worked with Alonzo. I rarely write reviews, but I will never go to this location again. My phone had an internal issue with the charger and a separate issue of a cracked screen that happened six months apart. The representatives I spoke with were not only not helpful, but also rude and condescending. After trying to troubleshoot the issues outside the store, one of the customer service representatives came outside and give me a recommendation to pay to fix my screen, so I could then get $810 for my phone and get a phone for that same price. I confirmed the trade in price and then went to his friends store, who fixed my screen for $160 in about an hour. When we arrived back at the store, I waited for at least 30 minutes to be seen and was told I could get $530 for my phone. Why would I have paid to fix a phone to then have to pay nearly $300 additional for a phone? The representative took no responsibility for his incorrect communication & after nearly a six hour process, I was left with a phone that still had a broken charging port (at no fault of my own). As someone who works in customer service, this was a particularly frustrating experience and I will never visit this store again. read more
