I came in to activate a new iPhone purchased from Apple, and was charged the $40 activation fee, which was to be expected, along with $30 "for a new SIM card." I asked about this last point repeatedly, pointing out most people are able to activate from home, and got vague answers about my phone not having one and "apple shipping without SIM cards." This is patently false. Apple ships verizon phones with pre-installed verizon SIM cards, and my phone was absolutely a pre-designated verizon phone (to this point, my significant other's phone, ordered at the same time, was later activated from home without the need for a new SIM card). Upon reviewing my receipt, I now see that I've instead been simply charged a full $70 activation fee, despite the associates rundown of the costs (which were based on false information).

Thankfully, it turned out to just be a screen issue after all! The repair itself was done incredibly quickly and efficiently. He even let me know to come back if I ran into any issues with his work, but everything has been perfect so far and I highly doubt I'll have any problems. ​The quality of work and the speed make it worth it, but the prices were definitely a bit higher than I initially expected. I ultimately decided on 4 stars because they charge an extra fee if you pay with a credit card, on top of the regular tax. Depending on what you're getting fixed, that credit card fee plus tax can easily add an extra $20+ onto your quoted price. I know a lot of restaurants are starting to do this nowadays, but I wasn't expecting it at a repair shop and wish I had known in advance so I could decide if I wanted to use a different payment method to avoid the surcharge. When I picked it up, they showed me the display was fixed and I was on my way. It wasn't until I had gotten home that I noticed it was a completely different monitor attached to my laptop - a massive dent on one of the corners that was never there, scratches all over the surface, cracks all around the monitor, worn rubber protection, sticky substance in the hinge, and it makes a clicking noise when I open/close it.
