I signed up for Verizon 5G Home Internet in San Francisco in 2022. I later attempted to use the service here in Monterey in 2023 when I moved here. The service was ineffective in Monterey, so I contacted Verizon to close the account. I made multiple attempts to return the modem after cancellation. I was told I needed a return box but never received one despite repeated requests. I was also never informed I could have returned the equipment via UPS. After continued efforts to return the equipment (including attempting to return it in person at several different stores), I was eventually instructed by a Verizon representative at 1680 Del Monte Center Suite 12G, Monterey, CA 93940 that since the account was closed and there was no further need for the device, I could dispose of the modem as I saw fit. I disposed of it as e-waste. I relied on Verizon's instructions in good faith. I have tried to contest the charges with both Verizon and their collection agency. As recently as last week, I was sent a bill for approximately $220 from a collections agency. This charge is improper because Verizon failed to provide return materials and expressly instructed disposal. I visited the store one last time today to avoid formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the FCC to no avail. read more

I can say the only reason I am now a Verizon customer is not because of deals or service. It's solely because of Davien. He was beyond patient and walked me through every single plane, multiple times. My wife raved about him for his professionalism, and now I understand why. He was incredibly knowledgeable, and an 11/10 rating would not do him justice. Davien and whoever hired him deserve a raise. It is Martin Luther King day today and the Verizon listing on Google says it is open but hours may be different because of the holiday so I'm trying to call the store but there is no phone number anywhere on the Internet and when I find a phone number with a local area code it just forwards to Verizon's main system. It is colossally stupid to try to run a business this way, there should be a phone number for individual stores so that people can call and check on simple things like this, I would give this -375 stars if I could. read more

My husband and I recently visited the store and oh boy, where should I start. Jackie and her store manager Raymond are very sneaky by failing to fully disclose all fees associated with the services. We added a new line for our daughter and upgraded my husband's phone. Here's where it gets interesting and very deceiving. "I can help you save on the activation fee. You'll pay $29.99 today and I'll set up his phone and transfer everything to the new phone." Which we later learned was a lie. Jackie and Raymond offered an incentive of $100 credit for purchasing a new phone. We called customer service upon receiving our bill. A supervisor confirmed that the activation fee was not waived, they also failed to explained the extra charges on my daughter's line. She also confirm that paying $29.99 will not waive the activation fee. My assumption is that they'll offer you credit to hide all the initial fees and close a sale. Very disappointed at Verizon for having sales associates and store managers who are willing to deceive people just to make a quick buck. We were visiting the area when my girlfriend started having issues with her i-phone. I have android so did not know what to do to fix the problem. So we visited this store and were greeted right away. She explained the problem and the staff member knew exactly what the issue was. They make you wait a hour to hour and a half to return an item. The guy who takes names at the door-only does that! He said they are short staffed and instead of actually helping out customers, even when there is nobody walking in, he remains standing at the entrance. They put me on a wait-list with my son's watch number(the watch I am returning)... So they are not going to be able to contact me using that number. I got a new Iphone and all he had to do was use Quickstart to transfer my data but instead told me it was going to be $29 if he did it and when I asked how hard it was to transfer from phone to phone he informed me it was so easy and quick then he pushed buttons and sent me on my way. I been a customer for 20 years and to just get the run around from staff it is pretty sad, no one seems to want to help, all seem to just hate their job. To be told Monterey, CA is a 5G only area and have to have a 5G plan is just crazy. The service is horrible if you don't have 5G. So new customers just know you are going to have to pay more on a plan because you live in Monterey. They seem to just not care anymore. I will be switching to AT&T. They have 5G included in all their plans, don't have to pay extra cause you live in Monterey. Update (the next day) went to get information on how to keep my number so I can take it with me, man the reviews are right, the customer service is horrible at this location. We made an appt. to talk about changing plan within in Verizon network. We have been with Verizon since 1982. We recently retired and just needed to get another plan like "Total or Visible". They offer these two plans and yet claimed to not be able to help us when we talked with reps at Del Monte Center. They just offered a plan with a small discount in comparison to our current plan. Came in with a new iPhone 14 that my now wife got me as a wedding day gift. We asked the associates for help in activating it, to which they said I had to call a number now and they did not activate phones in stores because Verizon does not want too many people in their stores. The way they were speaking made it apparent that they thought my presence alone was a bother and wanted to go back to standing around in an empty store getting paid. I tried calling the activation number that they had provided only to learn that I could only use the number during certain hours of the day, which nobody had told me Then, the icing on the cake, I tried activating my new iPhone and I got a notification on the phone that says I can't transfer my phone number and I have to go into the store Update: when I called the activation number, I had told them the story because they were having trouble getting it to work, and they were appalled that the store wouldn't activate my phone for me. Apparently they're supposed to! So this store staff just didn't want to do their jobs! read more

I came to the store for my questions regarding the travel package to be added to my phone. I also inquire about upgrading my old phone. I was pleasantly surprised to get the best help from Jason. He spent time to explain my options. At the end, I decided to keep my phone and only add the travel package. Even though I did not pay any extra money to upgrade, Jason was still gracious and helpful. Jason even assisted me in setting my phone up with iCloud. Jason offered to further help me should I change my mind. Always ask for Moe awesome personality, knowledgeable, great customized customer service. He takes his time listing to your needs, give great recommendations try to work with customers. That's why many customers ask for him by name and would rather wait for more than an hour to work with him if he's busy. Otherwise, I have to agree with all the other reviews describing the customer service, or the lack of thereof as extremely rude and un-knowledgeable. I am not a Verizon customer, but simply wanted to know if they happened to carry a particular accessory, before actually going there in-person. When I tried to call I was met with an elaborate phone tree that ultimately wanted me to enter my Verizon phone number - which I don't have because I am not a Verizon customer. I am SO thankful that I visited the Verizon Store at Del Monte Mall. I've been going to the store in Sand City and was not satisfied at all. They refused to help me switch my service to a new phone (because I didn't buy it there) and then would not help me getting my info transferred to my new phone. I found out that they (Sand City Store) is NOT a Verizon Cooperate store. That's when I went to the Verizon at the Mall. One of the reps (Yaneth Lopez) took both phones and transferred all the info via Bluetooth. It was done faster than I could have hoped for, I asked her how much I owe, she looked at me and smiled while saying no charge and she was happy to help. What an awesome experience. Hate is a strong word. That said, I HATED my smartphone. She was a bitch and I had to marry her after I sent my favorite one through the pre-soak, wash, rinse, soften, and fluff cycle. No amount of soaking it in rice could have brought her back :( The old bitch was S L O W, dropped calls, and crashed every time I tried to download something important. Worse yet, she was vindictive. I accidentally shoved her in the car as I was driving on the highway and she turned off and refused to restart, just when I needed the navigation for a confusing freeway turn off. Enough was enough. I seriously couldn't see being married to her for another 2 years (my service plan) but I wasn't gonna pork a hooker (switch to another carrier) because I'm guy who honors his commitments, no matter what a royal cell phone skank she's become. So I walked into this Verizon store in Monterey and was greeted in a friendly and prompt manner. It was busy but I only waited 15 minutes to meet with my service rep "Jon" who was absolutely FANTASTIC. He explained the shortcomings of my old phone and engineered a way, through my business plan, for me to score a new phone earlier. He was totally professional and knew all of the ins and outs of the latest models. I told him what I needed and he set me up with a new wife (smartphone). More importantly, he didn't try to hard-sell me on a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff! Many thanks Verizon and "Jon" for a solid shopping experience! May my new wife (smartphone) and I live happily ever after, that is, until a better and prettier model comes out in another year or so!!! read more

Rod. If you want (or in my case, need) to stop in, ask to deal with Rod. He was amazing. Talk about knowing your shit, without needing to boast. Friendly, personable customer service. I dropped my iPhone shattering the screen. All the bones were in tact, just couldn't see anything but a few multicolored lines and black across the screen. Crap. Walked in and was greeted right away. Rod addressed my problem right away- no wait what so ever (and the store was relatively busy; they had a sufficient number of workers - nicely done Monterey Verizon!). Long story short, I luckily have phone insurance, so not long over an hour and I walked out of the store with a new replacement phone set up to be mailed to my home in Ohio, a new iPhone 8, and glass protector shield for just over $300. Bonus: I'm using my new iPhone 8 for about an hour after walking out of the store, and it all of a sudden no apps were working, no internet connection, nothing; looked great, fine and dandy, but couldn't function at all. Ended up having to go back to the store the next day, and luckily Rod was working again. Turns out my SIM card was a dud. Rod fitted it with a new one, upgrades were completed right then and there, and I was out of that store in less than 15 minutes. BHUUUUYAAAA! Case and point: Rod. I was extremely disappointed with my service today I have always been a loyal Verizon customer but after today I'm rethinking my decision. I went to the store in person to inquire about a replacement screen protector for my IPhone 8 Plus. I was rudely greeted by an employee with no name tag who proceeded to rudely tell me no they don't carry any iPhone 8 Plus accessories since the phone is so old and to look online to get a new screen protector. I had kindly asked him if apple might have the product I needed and he again rudely said no it's too old and to look online. I hope this review goes to Verizon so they can do something about their employees at the Del Monte Center location. After reading several other negative reviews about this location I'm almost tempted to take my business to another carrier. read more

The Manager Aron and a young female associate there lack customer service skills and techniques as well as knowledge of their systems. A situation arose where I was repeatedly told that I was not the owner of my own account. I initially tried to explain to the female rep that there is obviously a mistake and I am indeed the one who opened the account back in 2003 (as well as I am who pays MORE THAN $350/MONTH!!). She proceeded to tell me that I was not the owner and that my younger brother, whom I added to my plan much later, was the owner and manager and he was needed to authorize the purchase being made. My anger escalated with the help of both the sales rep and the manager Aron who have absolutely no deescalation skills or any knowledge of their systems. The manager Aron told me there was nothing I could do and that my brother and myself would need to go into the store. Again insisting my little brother was who I would need authorization from. I really felt I pay waaaaaaay too much for this service to receive this low level of skill and customer service. I serious lost it on him... My problem was finally solved by a rep at *611 who immediately said they just didn't look in the right place to see that there was a mistake made on the last interaction (AT THAT SAME BRANCH BTW). He could see this was my account that I opened and he fixed it right there. To start I was agitated and I admitted it, but he was able to refrain from matching me and deescalated my anger immediately. AVOID SHOPPING THERE this is the last strike for them. I ended up losing photos and files the last phone I purchased there because the inept rep failed to confirm everything had transferred before restoring my old phone to factory before turning in. read more

I went today to buy an iPhone. I have had bad experiences with this store in the past so I decided to go straight to Apple, where they informed me that there is no upgrade available for my phone line (on the family plan). So I wandered over to Verizon, where they told me they gave my upgrade to my dad a few months ago when his phone broke. My dad was not informed this was happening or he would not have done it, knowing I was waiting for the new iPhone. Long story short, there is another ugrade available in 3 days, and the manager let me walk out of the store ready to cut all ties with Verizon rather than let me upgrade 3 days early. I called customer service to give them the report of what happened and to see if they could help. Less than 5 minutes later I was squaring away payment for my new phone. Also, did I mention the manager of the store bragged to me abouta lady came in a week or two ago who's house burned down in the fire in Big Sur, and he wouldn't let her upgrade either, even when her house had burned down! He made her file a claim with the Red Cross to have it paid for. Just thought I'd let you all know how not helpful these jerks are! read more

I have been loyal to Verizon for about 4 years now. I was on a family plan for the first two years and then on a solo plan for the last two years. In April of this year I added another line. Evangela set us up. We signed up for the edge program which basically gave us a $100 credit towards accessories and payments of $20 per month for the phone. Because we signed up for the edge program the $35 dollar activation fee was to be waived. Then the time came for when we had to pay the bill. An additional $400 was posted. Verizon charged my account for the $100 instead of giving me a credit, charged me the $35 activation fee, and the two lines were not connected and the prorated fee was out the roof. Evangela explained to me that this was a new promotion and they are still getting the kinks out. We picked apart the bill fee by fee and connected the two phone lines. In the end we figured out what i was meant to pay. She told me that her manager will manually apply credit and wave the activation fee. Next billing cycle, not only did they not manually apply these items, no notes or anything were written in my file. Spent some time stepping backwards and figuring out AGAIN what my bill should actually be. After countless trips to the store and a plethora of issues, I asked about the most recent balance paid and they HAD NOT ACCOUNTED FOR MY $100 PAID IN CASH. Not only did they screw up most everything with my bill, I am now concerned that they have stolen my $100 CASH. Rather than rewinding security footage in store, they are "having corporate handle it". Great. Each time I go in I get a cold and "stock answer" from the managers. One of the managers went as far as saying "I am the manager and I need to be where I am needed." He told me i could make an appointment or come in when Evangela is working, there was only one other person in the store who was browsing through the phones, then the manager left to chat with another employee about a soccer game. I spent countless hours at this store trying to understand why I was being charged so much and trying to reach out to the employees to work with me. My advice is to steer clear from this store or if you do decide to work with them, do not have high expectations. read more

My very first Yelp review goes to Verizon. My husband and I, had considered switching over to Verizon, but not anymore. The Verizon at Del Monte shopping center has terrible customer service and here is why. The wait time was horrible, unfriendly staff, they need more employees working during peak hours, but most important they lack integrity. We were assisted by Ruth Wilson, who seem so distracted with other things rather than focusing on us. Mrs. Wilson insisted on selling the phones at full retail and for us to make monthly payments. We were shown calculations proving that payments would be cheaper than the standard two year contract, but my husband and I don't need the latest and greatest. We also talked to the general manager Brian Coyle, what a character he is. Both, Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Coyle explained how Verizon no longer does standard two year price on their phones, but they are not aware that every price card has the two year pricing written in the fine print that is located underneath the monthly payments. For anyone going to this location, be aware of Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Coyle. Their job is to sucker you into paying more, even if is means misinforming you. We are so glad we didn't make the switch to Verizon. It seems like Verizon has lowered their standards by hiring personnel that lies to their customers, who catering to the customers is no longer a priority, and most importantly they lack integrity. read more

I was a little hesitant to stop into a Verizon store on Super Bowl Sunday. I thought the service would be lacking because who wants to be working during the Super Bowl? I was pleasantly greeted as I entered the store by Joseph. It was very busy but he took the time to listen to what I had to say. He tried some quick things to help me. When those didn't work, he added me to the waiting list. I waited for some time but, as I previously mentioned, it was pretty busy. I left smiling and the issue with my phone was solved. This is my second bad experience with this store. They only had two people on the floor (Sunday). I wanted a Pixel 2 XL which she was able to find for me. However, when I asked her to transfer the data from my existing phone, she told me I'd have to go home and do it myself! WTF? I usually go to the Verizon store in the Westgate Mall in west San Jose and they are the BEST. They usually have 5 - 8 people on the floor and they go thru everything with you and do the transfer while you wait. THEY ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE. When my wife got her phone, Pixel 2, a couple of months ago, they were no help then either. I should have known what to expect. I will be driving 75+ miles each way to buy my phone in San Jose.
