I LOVE this store in Marina CA. Everyone is incredibly helpful and kind. Today Heather took great care of me to ensure I had my Rewards account straight and was using my coupons and discounts. She came to the self check out, when she saw I was confused, and took the time with me that I needed. She especially sweet and even bagged my merchandise for me. I drove out there to get a few things for candle making. What's the one thing you gotta have? Wicks! There were about 5-6 display hooks where wicks were supposed to be. ALL EMPTY! I asked 2 staff and they said "we have no say in what comes in". You might try (2 different nearby stores). GOOD IDEA! And I did. No reason to drive out there again. Spacious well organized, clean very helpful associates. Easy parking outside. The shelves were full. A lot of these things are pretty nice selection. Prices went up over the years but silicon buy a T-shirt for 2.99 all cotton. They keep up with the seasons. Restrooms were clean and very spacious and there is no luck on the door so we don't have to ask for a key. I had a hilarious experience at the restroom as they have the strongest air blower as well as the strongest water fountain. Handful of people were in the store, I was checking out, I was asked to use the kiosk ... no problem. The first item scanned twice, I asked if the charge could be removed. The person helping me said it was done. I got home and noticed that not only was the original double charge not removed, it happened twice. One of the products, Compound Kings, was defective but on clearance, so I have to lose my money twice? I called the store and the person who answered hung up on me. I called back, the person put me on hold for 20 minutes. I called back and finally spoke to someone who told me unless I go back to the store there is nothing that can be done. Mind you there is a camera on the kiosk to confirm I only took 1 of each item and I paid with a credit card. You would think that a store with 3 major competitors in walking distance would be a bit more concerned about customer service. read more

The guy who rang us up was so polite and patient he was literally a patient king and I just love how soft he was with us too rather than annoyed aggravated or angry. I highly recommend this store for any craftspeople looking for supplies. And even if you are not into crafts, it's a fun store to visit during any holiday, as they stock great stuff for the holidays. Halloween and Christmas are my two favorite times to visit. They have electronic tiny villages with lights and motion. Just incredible. They carry fake Christmas trees. We took a beautiful, historical print to Michaels for custom dry mount and glass in our frame. They advertise custom framing services. The print was returned badly warped. It did not lie flat and has large wavy bumps or bubbles all across the picture, see photo below of ruined print. Twice we submitted the online customer form on Michaels' website for help. We received no response even though Michaels twice stated that it would respond in 2 days. To date, no response as promised was received from Michaels for our ruined print. read more

It's Michaels. It is a craft store. I am not a big crafter to be honest. But, if I am searching for a random item that I want and or need, like a new affordable chain for my pendant, and I don't want to spend a fortune on a realy gold chain, I come here. It is the place to go! Also, when I need a plethora of candles to deal with the semi-regular power outages in Marina, I come here! For $20 dollars I am now regularly prepared for a black out. Candlelight is gorgeous and really romantic, but also a necesity when the power is out. Back to the store, this Michaels is actually a really great store. Excellent supplies for the crafty people out there. It is a large, clean store with enforced social distancing. I am looking at other poor reviews that include ordering online and curbside pick up, but I give it 5 stars for being able to walk in and get what I need effortlessly and without fuss. We used to have several crafts stores around here. We are down to 1. I stopped in here to get some acrylic paint for a project. The gal I talked to was super helpful. The store seems skinny on inventory but it may just be change of seasons. Tons of paint and yarn. The cash registers aren't being used right now for some reason. So when I was ready to go I walked up and stood there. Not realizing they are actually ringing people up at the framing counter. They should put up a sign. read more

To be honest, I am not a huge crafter, but my girlfriend enjoys doing projects here and there. My experience with this store is generally good. We are not always able to find what we are looking for, but when we do, the items that we buy are generally not overpriced. The people who work are also very nice and helpful. I remember during Christmas when we were looking for Santa hats, they didn't have any on the floor, but had some in the back, not exactly for sale, but a team member still went in the back to grab one for us. We went in there recently and saw that they had "Grab Boxes," which my girlfriend noted that she saw on Tik Tok. They are $10 each, and you get a mis-mosh of different items, but you can't see them. I think they are perfect for getting rid of extra inventory for cheap, but like I said, you will get random items, and some of them are probably old holiday items. I can't praise their framing department enough it's rare to find people who know what they are doing, so attentive to detail and can walk you through options you might have not even thought of that fit your budget and needs. I have a lot of rare,out of print, hard to find movie posters that I've been meaning to get framed and I brought some of them here, they gave me a quote, honored it and got the job done without any bullsh*t like other framing stores would have. This is the worst Michael's I've been in. Their line is always very long and very slow moving since they never have more than 2 cashiers working. Their "curbside pickup" is a joke! Don't waste your time. I've tried it twice and had to go in both times and wait in line...only after sitting in my car on hold for 10 minutes. My Daughter had the same experience. If I can rate this a negative star I would. I ordered some frames online and were delivered damaged. Damage was made from UPS but I contacted Michaels Salinas store and they didn't have all the frames I needed to replace (but were willing to replace them) so they referred me to Marina because they showed to have all items I needed. I called Marina and explained what I needed, they refused to exchange (even though they had the frames I needed). They directed me to online customer service, and of course I was on hold for more than an hour. They could of been helpful and done a simple exchange for items I purchased from their store. read more

This Michaels has been extremely unorganized since the start of Covid. They make no effort to help customers and never have enough checkers. They have a senior hour from 9am-10am. I fully support a senior hour however I drove all the way over at 9am because no where online does it say 9-10 senior hour. It's such an inconvenience. I teach art, so I guess Michael's is pretty much the mothership for me. I go to Michaels 2-3 times per week, and check in on several stores when mine does't have what I need for a project. Compared to my local Michael's store, this one is well organized and has sufficient checkers. In San Luis Obispo, CA, we have to wade through one of those Tchatkes lines with keyrings and chocolate bars and detritus that you just don't need while you wait to check out. This store is pretty straight forward. The organization is similar to the Paso Robles, CA store, and you can find pretty much just what you need if you know the department. I have been able to get just what I needed here when my usual store was empty, (bamboo poles to make Japanese Kites, glitter card stock and large paper for book posters). The clearance section is always worth a look, and I often find just what I need there, as they tend to sell the leftovers from their art classes in clearance. The coupons are the best, since I sometimes come in and buy, say 200 items at a time. I do like to drift and dream around the aisles, and check out the speciality lines like Heidi Swapp. The store can be inspiring, and I have also used some of the online lessons. read more

On Sunday, September 26th around 5pm, my family and I went to Michaels and bought a bunch of Halloween decor. We were very excited as it is our favorite time of the year. The cashier seemed friendly at first and I offered to help her organize the items but she ignored me and immediately began scanning quickly and lost where she was. She didn't let me take things out of the basket. I get that there was a line forming and she was the only cashier but I offered to help her. I said, "wait did you already scan this? I see you scanning randomly and now I don't know what item you are on?" She interrupted and said "okay I can't reach you! Give it to me to scan." That is not at all what I meant. She ended up missing two pumpkin pillows and a candy holder so I told her and brought it her to scan. She then got upset that we had a bunch of stuff and said "oh gee you only bought a little huh?" Then she got upset that there was no price listed on our door decor. She called a co-worker over to help her find the pricing. We tried telling her where we found it and she walked away without listening. The cashier asked us where did we see it and we told her it was on the isle right behind her and against the back wall. She spoke on the headset to her co-worker and mocked us, saying, "It's on the back wall. right behind me. If that is at all helpful." The co-worker never went behind the cashier but walked straight back as if she was heading to the toy section. The cashier was clearly frustrated saying we should just pick another and then scrolled up and down on her ipad without actually looking at it. Then she said "okay" into her radio headset and marked the price as "christmas decor $150." Okay that total was almost as much as the other items combined. My husband and I asked where did she get that price and if we can see the ipad. She said "it's right here in the ipad...so." We clarified that a simple door decor is $150 when other similar wreaths were $35 or so. She said "yup!" so we told her to remove the item and she rolled her eyes and removed the item. We were bummed but more confused on how a price could be that much for a simple door decor. So we sat in the parking lot and checked our phones on the store's website. We found the door decor and it was only $30. My husband went back and the girl ran to the back to hide. Another cashier helped him out and he paid the ACTUAL PRICE. I think the cashier's need additional training on manners, strategy for scanning AND how to use the ipads for obtaining the correct prices. In my opinion, based on her demeanor and sloppiness, she just marked it up to be even meaner. I called corporate and wasn't able to get ahold of anyone but my concern is they have scammed other customers into paying higher prices because they are clearly unhappy people. read more

Two stars because the employees really try. This store has gotten gross fast. The bathrooms are almost always broken and they don't seem to have a working heater (I feel REALLY bad for the night shift). Long lines are a common problem in the retail world, we all get it. But my recent experience at Michael's in Marina was just bizarre. I was standing in the standard single long lane while the poor cashier did her best. She called for backup multiple times with no response. Her supervisor, Lonnie, showed up but didn't help with the line. Instead, he called for backup just as she'd been doing. When another employee rushed by, Lonnie asked her to hop on a register. Satisfied, he disappeared into the back of the store. I think Michael's should seriously consider investing in better management at Marina. I was miserable during my last visit and won't be returning. I hope the employees who helped me and my fellow crafters also move on and find better working conditions. read more

For years I have turned to Michaels in San Jose, CA for custom framing. When I moved to the Monterey area, I started taking my framing work to the Michaels in Marina. Sadly, I have been consistently disappointed in both the quality of the framing work and the general customer service at this particular store. Each of the last three framing orders were unacceptable and had to be redone. The seams of expensive fabric matting on a shadow box did not meet, leaving gaping "holes". Frames are nicked or marred. The fix has been to apply a sharpie pen to mask the blemish. Framing at Michaels is no longer an inexpensive solution, so I am appalled at the cheap quality/service. I never experienced this at my store in San Jose. Additionally, I have never received the promised call to alert me that my framing order is complete, and when I call, I usually have to follow up a couple times to reach someone in the framing department. Apparently, the other employees who answer the phone are unable or unwilling to provide customer service beyond ringing up your purchases or stocking shelves. read more

Decided to buy online and pick up in store, worst experience ever. Took 5 minutes for someone to come and see if I needed help and then took another 4 minutes to get my item. Then the girl comes up behind me and starts yelling at me if o ordered an item. I told her yes and tried to pull up my e mail that's said is needed but was brushed off told to sign something and I couldn't be happier to be done with any transaction. I recently bought a wreath at Micheals and decided to return it a week later. It still had the tag on it, I had my reciept and the credit card i used to purchase it. However, they would not accept the return because I did not have my drivers licence with me. Huh? I had other forms of ID with me, but they still wouldn't credit my credit card. No where on the reciept does it state this policy. I spoke to the manager, and even called the 800 number (they said they would get back to me within 72 hrs, still waiting). Bad customer service. So if you are under the driving age, or perhaps take the bus, I guess you can NOT return merchandise to Micheals. This is so wrong on so many levels. I will never shop there again. read more

I have been doing a lot of shopping for my wedding lately, and had difficulty finding the perfect red rose to make topiaries with. When I finally found a red rose that I loved, there was a limited amount at the Michael's store near my house in Marina. I purchased every last one that I found, and then had the cashier call the other stores to see if they had any more in stock. WIth my luck, the Michael's in Morgan Hill had 98 more roses! The customer service I experienced with the staff on the phone, and in person was excellent. They offered to have the roses brought to the Michael's near my house so that I did not have to drive all the way up to Morgan Hill to pick them up. It was such fast service, the roses arrived the very next day. The manager and staff were helpful, clear, and efficient in working together to solve my dilemma. I am so grateful for this pleasant experience with both Michael's stores!!! Thank you!! read more

No customer service. As I was walking around the store trying to find some items in the local ad. Trying to find someone who works there that would actually talk to you... good luck. I made eye contact with about 4 different employees and starting walking up to them... they disappear. I saw the same thing happen with other customers too. When I got to the checkout I had a food item and asked if they had this organization bin in the ad that started today. She said she didn't know. She wouldn't have someone check or check other stores. I had asked if they were able to check other stores inventory. She said no, that I would have to call the other stores. What GREAT customer service. Then I asked about a 40% off coupon ona. food item, she said I couldn't use it. In the small print it says "beverages or candy" but this was not candy nor was it a beverage. So I left and went to Gilroy Michael's which has much better customer service. read more

I've now had 2 online purchases for same day pick up at the Marina Dunes Michael's turn out to be "out of stock." Both times they have not had my item even though it says so & allows me to pay for it...the first order, they chose an item from the same line but totally different from the one I actually purchased...perhaps thinking maybe I would be ok with rainbow colored instead of all white??? Wasted part of my lunch hour for nothing!! Second time around, at least they cancelled the order instead of filling it with whatever floats their boat!! Saves me the trip to the store to be disappointed but does; however, tie up my funds until they return them to me. UGH!! They really need to get their inventory under control!!! Michael's as a chain is sort of whatever. Like, dang, I really wish they carried more products. Fabric, especially. But yeah, just rating this particular store? it's awesome. Every time I've shopped here, I've had a really fun experience. Even if they don't have whatever weird niche paint or gadget I'm looking for, I always end up leaving with something (because it's a craft store with some badass clearance deals if you watch closely) and the staff is always really friendly and helpful, often offering up tips or mentioning when there's a similar product on sale. Today, I called to look for a really specific and kind of hard to track down product. When I first asked, the woman who answered seemed a little confused like she maybe thought it wasn't a thing (lol), but then immediately was like, "I'm gonna check! And if I find it, I'll hold it for you up front! Which color? If I only have 1, we'll save it for you!" and that was really really cool of her. They ended up not having it, but that was alright. I ordered online because they only had car side but then opened the store. I was told to wait in line inside with few clerks. Then they said they would get my order and it was missing an item. They again made me wait. The could not find it and refused to take it from another order even though it was filled later. In the meantime this was NOT a good experience or service provided by Michaels. I prepaid! You should not say you have it and let someone pay for curbside if you don't have it and don't provide the Service. They made me wait and wait and I had to let them know I had to leave. The supervisor said he would go to the warehouse to get one when he could just replace the one for a customer who is NOT waiting! I had to suggest and say that it wasn't right for me to stand and wait when they can replace one for a customer who is NOT waiting! He said it would just cause the issue for them....
