The place was packed over the weekend. I genuinely appreciate Mary for reserving a table for my daughter and her friends this past Saturday. She wanted to come here to celebrate her birthday with her friends. She's a teen and only have a small group so we opted not to book a party package. Mary was gracious enough to let me know we can bring cake and drinks and so we did. They had a great time! I'm sure this won't be our last visit.

This place is a treasure to monterey! i can spend hours in here just by the vibes alone. they have so many amazing unique options it's hard to find something that you don't like! i can't wait to go back! after you're done with your pottery they gloss over it and you pick it up the following week! because of that i might have to make myself another item hahah

I loved The Hot Spot! They were very nice and accommodating. We didn't have to clean up anything and they brought water to clean our brushes! The space is very clean and there were so many options of projects to do!

    Waiting to be glazed.

So many options! You can paint pottery, make candles, fairy gardens, slime, mosaics.... Such a great addition!

    Are snacks allowed?

I think so. I brought individually packed cake slices and water for my daughter and her friends with the owners permission.

This place of art abundance jumps out at you as you stroll downtown. Please, don't miss the opportunity to delve completely into the ceramic arts at this lounge. Only drawback is price, which I believe you could not do much about as supplies these days increase in expense as quality of equipmet goes up. So, if you want cheaper options best bet would be doing art project at home. But another great quality regarding this lounge is the mess & clean up is left to the staff.

There were a couple other parties with young children and she was so patient and cheerful. Her energy and positivity made our visit extra memorable, thank you Monica! When we arrived, because we were new the staff helped show us around, and explained the process. The area itself is super cute and cozy, with seating by the windows as well as large tables for bigger parties. We were able to pick up our pieces about 5 days later? And the staff were super nice and helpful then as well! I'm in love with how the finished pieces turned out after firing. Overall, it was such a pleasant experience, they had some music playing and everything was neat and organized. We had a great time and I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're ever looking for something creative to do!

I love that they show tiles of what the paint color will look like Turnaround time to pick up your piece is relatively quick: ~4 days (ie finish sunday, pick up thursday) They have a lot of tools / resources to help design your piece (ie tape, lace, stencils, puffy paint, etc) An area they could improve on is their brushes - I don't always love the brushes they provide since it feels like they've been misused (not their fault but could be prevented but informing customers on how to properly use brushes), so i usually bring my own. ***3.5 stars overall***…read more I took a friend to Color Me Mine for their birthday. This location was convenient but it was really small. I am glad I made a table reservation. (You put a $10 deposit on the table that ends up going towards your final bill.) Because of the long rectangular shape of the store, the staff sit in the middle of the store, so no one greets you when you walk in. Thus, we were a little confused when we entered -- not knowing if we look for our table first or look for a ceramic piece first? Or do we check in somewhere? A greeting from the staff would have solved this. Without leaving their counter, someone briefly and hurriedly explained the process and locations of everything, and left us to begin. Even though I had done this before, it was my first time at this store and it was my friend's first painting pottery ever, and we were both lost, even after her mini tutorial. (I have been to pottery painting places where they walk you to the paint area to get you started, as an example of comparison.) Thankfully I remembered things from previous experiences that the painted ceramic tiles by the paint bottles with 3 squares symbolize what the different layers would look like after firing. (This is critical knowledge that the staff should point out to each group, so we'd understand how each layer of paint looks when dried/fired because sometimes we may want to paint 3 layers of paint, but not always. It was crucial to understand how to reference these tiles!) The paints and brushes were in one corner; the sink and paper towels were around the corner in the back of the store; and there was one main shelf of unpainted pottery choices (with a range of prices, but after adding in your $10 a person sitting fee, the final cost adds up, so be sure you like the piece you choose!) We chose to paint one large piece together rather than 2 smaller pieces. To make the look more cohesive, we chose colors within a certain range (lavenders and yellows/orange), and then we didn't look at the each other's side! It was very fun. **Some Things To Note** - Your table reservation gives you 2 hours. (We finished in that time but we also didn't do a lot of detailed work. I actually think most people would need more time than that if you choose a large ceramic or are painting details.) - The tables are pretty close together, so you don't get much privacy. We all heard each other's conversations. It was also very narrow to walk between the tables when people were painting, so it may not be a place to bring active kids who can't sit still for long periods of time. - It looks like they allow outdoor food because many were bringing their own snacks. I brought in an outside drink, which I'm glad I did because it was warm and you sit there for hours. - They do have a bathroom, if anyone is wondering. - It may take a week for them to get to your ceramic piece, glaze and fire it, but we got a text that it was ready around 4 days after painting it. It is a fun experience to paint pottery, as long as you can afford it and feel comfortable approaching the counter to ask your questions because the staff doesn't seem like they go out of their way to offer help unfortunately.

After waiting for a while an associate comes out and roughly explains what the process is and disappears again- fine by me but I know a fist timer would be pretty confused. The color selection is very poor. They have a row of colors just plain colors, much less than what I've seen other places. The pottery options are also pretty lackluster and pricey for what they are. The positive part of this rating goes to the lovely associate that helped us the first time. She was lovely and kind, but my overall frustration that led me to this overall rating was picking up my pottery today. Again was not very fully and I see a line of people at the front. Cool I get it. But the associate had not a single sense of urgency in her. She just slowwwwwwly walked to the back looked around slowwwwly came back. Once it was my turn she didn't even ask why I was here just stared at me so I told her I was picking up and she asks for a picture of the item..? Wtf? Not even a name phone number or email that they require when dropping off my items but a picture? I had to scroll and find them. Once I show her she's like..ok when were you here? Geez do you want my outfit details that day too? How ridiculous. They need a better sorting system I saw her looking around and several pieces. Then she sloooowwlly comes over to me and dumps my plates on a table nearby and some crumpled bags next to it and just says "ok you can look at them" and leaves to the back again. Frustrated I get my pieces and dip. I don't know if it's because I've been to muuuuch better where they also treat me better. But this place was such a let down. Also picky side note the music they put sucks.
