Took two classes here and had very different experiences. The first class I went to was a resin workshop with Punky Power Productions and it was fun, engaging, and interactive. The instructor was very fun and really willing to help out and inspire. 5 stars. The second workshop i took, just this Sunday, was not great at all. It was a mosaic class and it might as well have been self led. The instructor gave us a brief 3-5 min tutorial on how to place the tiles and then did nothing else except sorted tiles the whole time. She never came around to see how we were doing or if we needed help. We had to keep asking her to come over if we had a question and she didn't really offer too much. She never told us what color we could use, and kept coming over and collecting the extra tiles as we were working. She didn't help us finish up and left before we were done. It was super disappointing. read more

Went in hoping to make some handprint or footprint art with my almost fourteen month old for my wife's birthday, something cute and easy since neither of us is artistically inclined. Called ahead first and no one picked up, which should have been a sign. Drove over anyway and the door was locked even though it was within their posted hours. I knocked, and the woman inside looked around like she was debating whether to admit they were even open, then talked to me from the doorway without ever inviting me in. When I asked what was available she said only pottery painting, and when I asked about canvas she said she'd have to look it up, never actually gave me a number. The whole thing felt cold and gatekeepy, which is the opposite of the "welcoming, judgment free" vibe they advertise online. Never even got past the doorway so I can't speak to the actual classes, but if this is the reception you get walking in, I'm not confident recommending it. Two out of five. Would not recommend, at least not based on this visit. read more

Everyone had a great time, and the Art Beat Studio staff was so accommodating - they made sure everyone had a great time and coached us through color selection and tips on techniques. 1st time pottering! Booked a party reservation for my best friends birthday. We were a party of 5 & had a lovely instructor name Cece. She was very detailed but also very helpful. We got right into it & I came to envy her being able to play with clay all day! Def found a new hobby to just enjoy, relax, create & be at peace. We all had a blast making cups and bowls! I do recommend coming in clothes you don't mind getting some clay on. But getting dirty is part of the fun! For $80 per person for almost 2hrs was a deal! I def want to come back! They told us it would take 3 weeks for our bowls and cups to be painted and finished due to waiting for a full over to cook. Which were more excited to just come back. My friends and I agreed we should make this a quarterly hangout for our own wellness:) the staff was awesome and nice, they also had painting a plate or sculptures as well! Fun birthday party! My Twins had their 10th birthday party with 4 other guests. We did the Canvas party where there was some drawing and painting which the kids got to take home. All the kids just loved how creative they got to be. The Instructor did a great job helping them pick out an item to draw and later paint. She was very patient with all the girls helping them get more paint and giving them tips on their painting. The party is 2 hours and you can bring your own decorations, food, and drinks. You must wear masks and none of our guests has issues at all. They also offer other party themes: Bisque, Clay, and Potter's Wheel to choose from. Prices are different for each theme. It was easy to set up the reservation by filling out a form and they will contact you to finalize the date and time. They do have Summer Camps and Open Studio you can go on Sundays for $5 dollars to go do the Bisque which is the glazing and firing of a figurine. I have signed my son up 2 years in a row for the Spring art classes. 2019- he took art appreciation and came home with some really cool ceramic projects, a box he made. He loved it. This year we did drawing. I have a lovely painting that he did on canvas. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to finish due to Covid nightmare. This is such a great art studio and I hope they survive this quarantine. The instructors are knowledgeable and kind. Its a great little shop. Please keep them in mind when we are allowed to return to these things. They also have adult classes too. Please check them out! read more

I had bookmarked this place to try with my daughter and since she was on spring break I figured it would be a fun mommy daughter date. We showed up and there was actually a kids spring camp going on and usually they would only take reservations at this point but they still let us in since there was a table. Super nice of them! We sat down they helped set us up and then we picked out some fun ceramics to paint. We spent quite some time here, and enjoyed our experience. My daughter didn't want to leave haha. I attended their adult pottery wheel workshop on Nov 21st 2021 and I am super happy that I attended it.The trainer was very attentive and helpful.He helped each and every one in our group to make atleast 2 pieces ready for firing and glazing .He was really enthusiastic to help. Revising this review, I realized that I wasn't being totally fair. While it was disappointing that I wasn't refunded for the guest who didn't show up, all of the other issues with the booking were handled well. The party itself was also very good; the kids enjoyed it, and the birthday girl likes her free mug. My children love art and drawing. They did NOT enjoy their summer art class at Art Beat. They have taken art classes at other locations. This was the first one they had complained about and said they didn't want to attend because it was boring. I expressed concern to owner after 3 sessions. She asked me to give it chance - said they focus on technique. We kept going. Regretfully. Not much evidence of technique - shading, perspective, even a variety in use of media and materials. Only one canvas and paint session. Rest of time used Crayola pencils and watercolor pencils with plain drawing paper, which doesn't seem to justify the additional materials cost either. Owner didn't even follow up to ask if things had changed. Not worth the cost or time. Do not recommend. read more

Came here last year to paint some plates and cups. Since I live in Milpitas, Campbell was kind of out of the way to pick up the ceramics after they were fired, so I put it off to the point where I was pretty sure they had either tossed it or donated it. Close to the 1 year mark since my last visit, I receive a call notifying me that my ceramics were still there and could come and pick them up when I was free. Sure enough, my plate and cup was still there, albeit covered in dust. The owner (I don't remember her name) is really helpful and wants to make sure you get what you want after your visit... even if it's been almost an entire year. read more

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Could not recommend this studio more... Had some free time and wanted to do something creative outside the house, so looked up local art classes online. Initially interested in taking a pottery class, I came across Art Beat. Looked through their site (which is super user friendly btw) and found they had a mosaic class starting the very next day!! Saw it as fate & booked it. Heard later that this class usually gets around 6-8 people but being the peak of summer and most people were either on holiday or getting back to school, so there were just two of us. Laura Morales, our teacher, was absolutely superb. She's friendly, patient, fun and super encouraging. I don't have a creative bone in my body and was super nervous about this class. The course is 6 weeks long (once per week) and we did 3 projects during this time. The pace was absolutely perfect. Not so easy that we felt like we were doing kiddie work, but not so difficult to make us feel intimidated and give up. My Mum was surprised I was doing something so out've my comfort zone and told me that if the teacher was good then she would bring out my potential (yeah - blame the teacher ;) but she's a teacher herself, so I guess she knows). Hubby was not so impressed by the first photo frame we made in class (with tiles & marbles), his exact words were - "That's 'interesting', don't worry you'll do better next time" - grrrr! Well, I did :) and it's def thanks to my teacher! We learned from our mistakes with the frame to go on to creating a planter (with broken plates - lots of fun smashing them with a hammer) and then a glass vase (using cut glass). I was pretty impressed with the results and felt exhilarated after making the effort to try something new. It's an awesome class... and there are other options online as well. Don't be intimidated if you have never been creative - it can be a lot of fun and if it doesn't turn out well, you can always save it for your hubby's birthday present ;) serves him right :P read more

My friends are I planned a Saturday girls day at The Art Beat using the coupon purchased on Yelp. It was a great experience and completely worth the money - especially the discount! We went on a Saturday morning and were pretty much the only people there, which was great. We did the pottery painting, which is a $9 sitting fee (which includes the paint and the firing afterwards). The pieces are decently priced, cheaper than Color Me Mine and Petroglyph (I think). You can get a large mug for $10 ish. Anyway, the lady was very patient in explaining to use how it works and completely let us go to town with our girl's day! I was surprised that we weren't hushed or rushed throughout the 2 hour process. It was nice. I know they have other craft/art activities you can do too, but I can't say much about that since I haven't done it. read more

Came here for my baby cousin's birthday party and we all did some MOSAICS!!! It was an small event with 15 little girls working on their little mosaic frames are super super cute. There were 2 instructors talking and making sure that the kids did not hurt themselves. They didn't seem as patient and occasionally showed signs of frustration. They let you bring in your own food and drink so the little kids do not starve! It was a good experience and hint hint, there's a groupon for it! read more

We stopped in with my grandson to do an art project. I had only been to Petroglyph before here. Yes Petroglyph looked nicer and cost more, but what I like was the owner was really helpful with how to paint things so they turn out well. At Petroglyph they just sit you down and if it turns out well then its just luck. I want to USE the things I make and if they look good when they are fired that makes all the difference! He did two projects and they came out incredibly well and he loved it! He is proud of what he did and so are we. I feel that the instruction is excellent and that gives kids a lot of confidence, which is priceless! read more

Lots of different activities for ALL AGES. We went there for the first time for my sisters bday party and we all made plates with cut outs on them, and shapes pressed in to them. Very good activity to get the creativity out. At first I didn't think I was going to make a plate but after seeing all the different stuff you could do and interacting with all the other guests it was really fun! My fiance and I are getting married and have decided to make our cake topper so we can keep it forever and know we did the hard work making them. We enjoyed our time at the studio so went back. Erinn is great, gave us lots of help starting our project. Her staff kept checking in with us and also provided lots of help. After having taken a mosaic class several years ago and enjoying it, I decided it was time to try it again. A bit of a refresher before starting my own project at home. I found the mosaics class at Art Beat. Online sign up was easy, the staff was helpful and friendly, parking was hassle free and the studio is full of supplies and examples for inspiration. The class was 6 weeks long. We made three very different projects and were left to our own creativity. The teacher was experienced, supportive and provided the necessary guidance on techniques. She was never critical. Thank you. Although I gave 2 of my 3 pieces away, the one I kept will be prominently displayed in my house. YeI am ready to embark on my own project. This fun studio will be my new hang out! The staff was so patient and kind with us...this was our first time there. They shared tips with us for a better end product. There were many options to choose from while there. They offer fun classes of pottery, clay and painting bisque ceramics. My 9 year old daughter tagged along with me and was so glad she did. Loved our beginners potter's wheel class, offered the first Friday of each month. We each made three bowls and returned to glaze later. This is a super little studio with helpful instructors and passionate artists. No need to look elsewhere!! A Brownie girl scout troop happened to be in for a painting class when we stopped by to glaze our pieces and the owner was great with them -- better at keeping them in line than the troop leaders I would say! read more

After spending over $400 at this place, they charged me extra for going over my time to clean up. The extra charge wouldn't have been a big deal if the staff were nicer. I witnessed them with the kids at summer camp when the parents weren't there. You can tell they weren't patient or friendly with the kids. Fyi, kids are messy when it comes to art. read more
